Is anyone using RTX 3070 Ti or any graphic cards with gddr6x memory in a closed case mining rig or gaming case? How are you coping in this heating season? My 3070Ti in a closed case goes up as 90°C on memory temp while mining or gaming but if I open the case it goes down to 84°C, anyway to make things better?.

Dont close the case.

Unless you are using a high flow mining case (or server case) chances are your gpus will run cooler in open case vs a regular pc case.

You are lucky to get 90 degrees. My GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB FE card has horrible VRAM cooling. I can only get 105 Mh/s for 100° C.

As expected from a RTX 3080Ti, I have one that shows 102°C mining Ethereum, are you using a open case or a closed server case? Mine is open and yet the temperature is that high, after searching the web I noticed many have the same result.

It depends on how well made that case is.Most Chinese cheap ones do not cope well with Gddr6x and from what I have heard the premium ones like Minerdude are really great for these type of cards with high memory temperature. There is a big downside to this premium case and that is the enormous expensive price for such case.

For me who do not want to spend that insane amount of money for a premium case, adding additional cooling fans to open rigs is the best solution for these type of cards.

In a closed case, the temperature of the video card should be lower, but the memory temperature of 84-90 degrees is not bad for the summer.
The gaming case is useless for mining, because there are weak fans and it is not designed for a large number of video cards. If you have one graphics card, remove 1 panel from your PC case.

You are right, most gaming cases comes with those simple RGB fans with colors and they don't get rid of heats in the case, lol 😆  I knew this because a friend has a gaming PC that gives him problem until we get rid of the case for a more bigger case with enough spaces that good fans can be installed.

It is very important where the PC case is located, the ventilation in the room and what video cards are installed there.
A cheap gaming case works like a vacuum cleaner, and if there are no filters in it, then all the dust accumulates in the PC case. Until we know the case model, we can't help.

I have the RTX 3080 Ti FE. I heard the Founder Edition version is worse than the AIB models for VRAM cooling. I am using a closed gaming PC case with 4 120mm fans. Of course, the GPU fans run at 100%.

I learned my lesson. Never buy GDDR6X video cards. Even if VRAM cooling is good, they are too power hungry. The RTX 3060 Ti is better, or the RTX 3060 12GB if you want to dual mine.

Have a read about mineral oil submerge.
You can also achieve the same with plain water, but you have to have everything ungrounded for the electricity to flow, this is expert level and takes knowledge probably beyond anyone in this forum, but mineral oil submerge is something you can definitely go for.

Immersion watercooling would require distilled water because it doesn't conduct electricity. But I think it could be a promising alternative for large farms like Whinstone because I think a water cooling system would be cheaper and more effective than an oil cooling system. Water conducts heat 4x as well as mineral oil and can transfer 2.5x the heat energy.

The only problem is purifying the water to make sure small metal particles don't get in, make it conductive and fry the equipment.

Now there is more choice of cold video cards. And for hot video cards, there are good closed cases. If you want to work as an electrician and plumber, then you can try this experiment. GEMIN_M4 case is not designed for mining.

1. Open your case., mine is naked 100%.
2. Add extra cooling fans or table fan to less the heat.
3. Lower clocks or down clock using msi afterburner to limit power consumption.

Mining isn't profitable anymore anyways so it's better to go with the lowest power consumption settings.

A desktop fan draws between 45 and 120 watts from the wall, depending on the model. This is the consumption of another video card. I would put additional 80x80 fans on the side so that they only cool the video card.
