I'm about to make a 10K purchase of Bitcoin via bank transfer on Coinbase.

What is the difference in fees between Coinbase and Coinbase Pro?

Is Coinbase Pro significantly cheaper?

Is it worth the trouble to open a Coinbase Pro account just for this purchase?*

If so, how much would I be saving in dollars and cents?

I don't care about trading. I only want a simple breakdown of the difference in costs between buying Bitcoin on Coinbase with fiat currency vs. buying it on Coinbase Pro. I can't seem to find this info anywhere on the internet (everyone only talks about "trading" costs, not PURCHASE costs).

Thanks

*I'm aware that Coinbase Pro will be discontinued at the end of the year

Coinbase Pro has lower fees but here's a suggestion by someone who has been around long enough to be able to give advice: Drop Coinbase, use Kraken. Much lower fees than Coinbase and they are actually working towards crypto as a whole while Coinbase will get involved in shady practices.

Unfortunately, Kraken doesn't serve NYC, where I live. I tried joining in 2017.

Coinbase has a shitty system for the direct buy option on the basic version, so the only way to exactly know this is to actually try it, they have a fee that is based on the spread which can vary quite a bit, up to 2% as they admit, so you might end up paying over 200$ just from that, and also another fee if you use a cc card for that purchase, ACH deposits are free.

So the best way to know for sure is to open the account and see for yourself.

LE:
Since I see you're from NY, then you're really low on cheap options, Gemini is not that cheaper either and I think the only option would be Bitstamp.

Thanks, I suspected this.

Since I'm lazy, I'll probably just hold my nose and buy through Coinbase. I don't want to go through all the verification, I.D., and waiting bs that I went through the first time around in 2017, especially when I'm not even sure the savings, if any, will be worth it, and Coinbase Pro is slated to disappear by the end of the year, anyway.

Coinbase pro have free deposit fees when you use ACH and the Swift (GBP) option and for Coinbase if you directly buy on Coinbase fees are depending on your bank plus trading fees when you buy directly.

I think you can compare them with this link below

Thanks. That's the only site I found that compared the fees, but it's still somewhat confusing.

Coinbase and Coinbase Pro shares the same orderbook and liquidity. They just differ on the feature and type of order that you can do. So basically they have same price but you can purchase cheaper on coinbase pro by doing a limit order and wait for your order to be filled unlike the normal coinbase version which you can just market order that gives you no choice to choose your preferred price. Use coinbase pro if you are willing to wait  for buying at your preferred price.

Coinbase pro is just one of the products under your coinbase account so normally, you wouldn't be asked to do another round of KYC if your coinbase account is already verified ('normally' because I saw some people were asked for further documents). You don't need to sign up in pro as well, just go straight for sign in since coinbase and pro have the same login.

Coinbase pro is obviously cheaper and also lets you place limit orders and have control of your oders unlike coinbase.com

Coinbase.com have other hidden fees they will charge you, such as slippage rates. Coinbase.com is more preffered by newbies who don't know much about advanced trading tools and charting.
