A friend i know recently narrated to me how his business almost collapsed due to trust he had for another of his friends who he thought he was helping by recruiting him to manage one of his Retail outlets. Yes , Gamblers can hold financial position. Infact most reputable firms have one/ two personnel who will think outside the box with new ideas and take risk using various strategy so as to make profit. Checking various probability of success and failure is essential before going into a business. It's all gambling

In other to answer your second question, i will base my opinion on our societal norms. Everyone deserves a second chance. Even a problematic gambler. However, caution should be taken because when dining with the devil, make sure you have a long spoon. . You must ensure your assets are secure and not entrust him with full access to it.

Yes as long as its you being the gambler. But if someone else handles it for you then its not your money anymore.

You can't even trust your wife to spend your money to your children or to her. Don't trust anyone but your own because them given the chance will get amounts unnoticed and before you know it, its too late because its already amounting to hundred thousands.

Business should be treated like business, involving friends or relatives is not a good idea, because the greater the trust you have in someone, the greater the possibility that they will believe that they can steal from you without you realizing it... it is better to hire someone, pay her well for it and monitor her frequently.

He is not managing the retail outlet successfully and also the profit making is decreasing. Later, he was seen in a gambling shop or whatever, he was gambling? If gambling, I will not think two times to replace him for the time being. Business should never be about friends, it should be about someome that can manage the business successfully. I can also never trust a gambling addict.

that really depends if the person is a compulsive gambler or not but without fully knowing the person and their history with gambling, I'd be cautious to put them in a position that handles finance.

Don't want to be rude here, but I think your friend needs to reevaluate how he should run his business. He hired him to manage his outlet. That doesn't mean that he can take money from the business and buy medicines... I mean, if he wants, he can pay his wage upfront to buy his meds...

1. No. I wouldn't hire someone who is addicted to gambling.

It will depend on the gambler himself because if the gambler is not an addicted gambler and only bets in his spare time, I guess it will be okay. But we as owners of that business, cannot let go of everything and hand over the responsibility to the gambler even though he is our close friend because it is our business. We have to remain fully responsible for our business so that we can monitor everything and make sure that everything is running smoothly.

If the problem gambler can fix his problem and won't cause any more problems, he deserves a second chance and can be trusted again. But we have to be careful and not give him full trust if we don't believe in him yet.

i say no to trust a gambler even if it is your wife. because a gambler will always need money when he loses and when he holds money even though it is company money he will still make a deposit and think "sure i won after this and i will return the money". even though in gambling no one can beat the bookies.

everyone deserves a second chance after making a mistake. however, if the error has the potential to repeat itself, it is better not to be given another chance.

Depends on the gambler.

If he is an addict, then no. He is not to be trusted. If he can control himself and plays occasionally, then there won't be a problem. Addicts are dangerous and unreliable people. Money or something else, you just can't trust them. They need professional help immediately.

- If the gamblers are not addicted into gambling institution whether crypto or land based, I think they are elgible

Exactly, don't hire a gambler that works in your company as it will only make your company bankrupt, a successful gambler does not work, they are investing on their skills because they make a living in gambling. So those who have a gambling problem that are working in a company will only bring problem to the company, that's for sure.

The friend is not just a gambler but addict and also a liar too, because when the friend noticed the decline in the remittance of sales he attributed it to health challenges just to get the friend's sympathy. So yes i can trust a gambler with my money. but that is if the gambler act responsibly and discipline, there is nothing wrong with gambling and i can freely do business with a gambler but that is if the individual is not an addict that does not have control over their gambling behavior.

There is a difference between normal gamblers and "problem" gamblers, but it is very difficult to determine if the normal gambler is turning into a "problem" gambler. I will say, when you recruit or appoint somebody... do a proper background check on the financial position of that specific person... to determine what the risk might be.

If this person had a good job before and he has been "black listed" ....then I will be hesitant to appoint him, because gambling might be one of the reasons why he was in that position. (Also add a question in the application form that will ask if this person frequently gamble... if he or she says NO ..... and you find out later that he or she lied, then you can dismiss them)

This is the reason why we shouldn't entrust things related to money to just anyone, especially gamblers. I see here, what's wrong is your friend, why doesn't he investigate the person's history first, after all, we certainly know whether someone can be trusted or not. If I become your friend then I will immediately cut ties with that person and will never remember him again.

I have thought of this as two things, whether the gambler can control his urges or not. It's just that. If you can see that he will be a liability in the long run because he cannot control the part with gambling that isn't his, it's just out of line already. I wouldn't trust him because he had already done something outrageous, gambling on somebody else's money, and thought it was a good idea. I wouldn't trust that dude for sure.

If the gambler were responsible enough to stop and know his limits, then it wouldn't be that hard to trust him with a specific amount of money. It's just going to be a risk, TBH. You wouldn't know what happens after that.

I think every person deserves a second chance. It's just that be careful not to expect too much.

As long as what the gambler is doing is not related to the company's finances, I don't think there is a problem. but when there are attempts by gamblers to use company finances to gamble then it is a mistake.
for whatever reason, I think the owner of the company can judge how the trusted person works. is he lying or is he telling the truth?

A gambler should know their limits when playing in a casino. Don't be too greedy and push beyond your ability. it will damage itself, as well as the people around it.
