Judging from the character of your friend's financial management, it is clear that he is not a person who can be trusted in managing finances. So the choice is to stop him first from holding that position before he shows improvement in himself so as not to do things that can harm the business.
In my opinion, if there is another option then it is better to take the second option instead of someone who is not familiar with gambling. because a greedy gambler can not be trusted to handle the finances of the company/business.

Based on your story, you can't really trust a person with a gambling addiction issues knowing he will just gamble the funds when all his own funds have gone from losing. Do not wait for your friend's business to fall into bankruptcy as gamblers will always be gamblers, they will always prioritize their gambling activities no matter what. And once they did it once, its always bound to happen again. As long as addiction is there, you will never find good profits from your business if you continue to trust him about holding that financial position.

Bitcoin has taught us simple lessons like ‘Not your keys, not your coins’ and this should be applied to fiat as well, we must never leave financial decisions to an external person, if we earned that money and the account holding it has your name or the name of your business then you must never let anyone else to have control of it regardless of how much you could trust that person, you can delegate a lot of things to your employees but money is not one of those things.

Personally , I never hided the fact that I use to gamble from time to time, makes it fun but never crossed the line or placed big bets so I can speak free when it comes to gamble but this is just my point of view and how I do gamble, but to trust a company savings to a gambler hahaha ...no way.

A company should have self respect and always investigate that person who is having access to cash or value assets and as far as I know , the big companies will backtrace your life before you get into a position like that.

Doing gambling while still not crossing the limit indicates that you are good at managing your own psychology. because most people who are not good at managing their psychology then they tend to gamble to the limit. because they always follow the instinct of greed that arises.

yeah I think so too. A company will definitely investigate the background of every prospective employee who applies for a job at his company. But a gambler usually they are also good at hiding his habit of being a gambler. hahahaha but if the company is a large company then usually they have a special person who can trace the history of the person to be hired. so they can choose the right person.

It depends. There are gamblers who can control themselves and knows their limit. Yes if you're a kind of gambler who have discipline and you know when to stop and that includes not using the money that is not your own. But if we based it in your friend's story and similar cases then No.

Nothing is passed on to an addicted and stupid gambler. No need for a second chance. As for financial positions, if you don't take these things seriously, you will go bankrupt. This is no child's play. You should think twice before doing business with people you love and trust. Just because you love him, you shouldn't have him follow up on the job. I think everyone deserves a second chance and we all have our way of determining if they're trustworthy with our money or not. Honestly, on me, I wouldn't give them my trust 100% and wholly if they're still addicted. But if seen that they've changed for a long time and they're trying their best to remove and have an abstained attachment to gambling, I think they deserve to have a second chance but as I've said, we all my choice, we all depend on whom we're going to trust.

Really hard to answer, but I heard horror stories too just like what the OP has describe. Well if he knows that his friend is into gambling, maybe he wouldn't trust him. So I guess for us we really need to be very careful about who put our businesses and money and rely them to manage it for us. Not just for gamblers, but for everyone because you really don't know, maybe if they see that the business is growing, they might be tempted to steal.

Yes, in this case, he never knew his friend would spend money in gambling, else he would have never given his funds to him.

Instead of handing over the capital to his friend, he should have investigated it first as his friend is involved in which business. I would consider this his fault as he trusted his friend blindly and gave him the money. Usually, sometimes we are too lazy that we just give our money to another person and wish we get good returns just by doing nothing.

I’m wondering why you need someone to gamble for you? I don’t see any sense here since gambling is a game of luck and there’s no real strategy that makes you more profitable because gambling will always be in favor to the house.

Although the OP case is different, but people do not under this as they think that gambling gives much higher returns, which is not true most of the time. Secondly, sometimes the other person also convinces that he is a good gambler who has techniques and skills to always make money in gambling. He may use fake screenshot proof to convince the other part and get money from them. People are already disappointed with their own performance in gambling so they agree to give their money to other person although they do not know that the gambling results won't change much.

I don't have ideas why many people still believing trust gambler about their money saving, not only with gambling but also I don't trust with trade by other hand. I think need to stop put your money for the other and handle for gambling, not have skill or how your knowledge about gambling and never give guarantee always win. Better if you want to bet do by your self and never trust any one else how expert them on casino gambling. They can't bring you with the winning always and have chance for losing your money without trust with them. Right now many company try to give service how they can give you promised with several percent profit by give them capital to bet, but at the end you don't get back your money again.

That is the worst thing could happen to me to lose everything and even my wife(family) because of gambling , I am very proud and happy because even though I once turn into addicted gambler yet I manage to maintain my family and keeps my Wife holding till now that i am completely relieved and healed from that nightmare.

Maybe if we are going to engage in gambling best that we must understand what we are entering and which way we are heading because one single mistake will end up everything that we use to gather for long years.

I would not trust anyone with bad finances.
If you want to test a person - see how he deals in the finances. If the person is not good in dealing with finances - this means he is not trustworthy. 

Yeah because if you do then expect everything will be on your losses because gamblers are literally uncontrollable  and can end up losing yours as well.

1.) I think yes if you truly know the personality of that gambler and you find out that he still have a control for him self.
2.) Yes of course, as long as they have overcome their problems and are confident that they can handle that position again but you better not entrust them most of your wealth. We still need to observe things first.

Your friend did a good job there of helping his other friend. Maybe he also sees how hard the life of is friend was but the only problem is his friend which he abused the help given to him but I think now I know why he had a poor life and that may be because he wasted all of his money in drugs and gambling. It is important to know the background of the person first before we hire them on our business especially if they will handle money because maybe they have a past record of stealing. There's no excuse even if you say that you know the person or it was your friend.

I also think that everyone deserves a second chance but that second chance is only awarded to persons who have repented sincerely and are rehabilitated from a long time.For such kind of persons I may think that I can entrust some money but not all the money,I can test this person a couple of times and if he is correct then not likely but I may entrust him a bigger amount of money.No other person except this type deserves a second chance as we know that if he has not repented he will keep doing what he did before.

everyone (not just you but me too) must have been disappointed by other people, when it comes to money and it makes me no longer able to entrust my money 100% to other people, this has become a trauma, it's better to manage our own finances than be disappointed again

It is all matter of financial position which regular gamblers will turn to problem gamblers when they don't have enough money to gamble.
So why you will trust your money to someone else in the first place, it should be always capable to handle the money. Think it always that money is a precious thing on earth and everyone will surely be tempted to spend if there is money on their hand.
However, this could depend on you if how you will know personally the one who you will entrust your money.

Identifying problem gamblers however is hard, you can never tell a guy have a gambling problem until you learn its too late. Unless you live with him in the same house. Problem gamblers hide the vice to a long time, you will only learn they've got this problem when its pretty obvious already which he is selling his watch, car or properties which is worse.

I think he will have to experience the great loss first before learning to accept, treated to get healed.

Quite frankly, and don't think this the wrong way. I wouldn't trust any of you with my money, and neither should you trust me. If you have to trust someone with money, make sure it's as small of an amount as possible. Hence why normally there are trustee's in businesses, and any one holding money for the business or whatever, doesn't have access to all the funds, but a share of it.

Perfectly said! I was swindled by my trusted friend (known him since high school) when he offered me to invest in his business.  I rejected the offer instead I lent him the needed money without any interest and told him that I will get it back after 2 years.  Two years came and I talk to him about getting my money back.  He promised to pay it in parts. Another 2 years passed, the money was not returned and I was put on ignore.  I lost around $8k interacting with this guy's business.
The point here is that it doesn't need for a person to be a compulsive gambler to rekt someone.  Anyone can steal and cheat us but I don't agree about judging people that they will do bad things because they are a gambler since we do not know what kind of people these gamblers are.

What a sad story you had with your friend Sir, Nowadays, it is really hard to give our trust to someone, especially if the person itself is a gambler.
Even you know the person, still hard to trust especially if the money is involved. Though, I am not saying all the gamblers are not trustworthy, of course not, that's not what I'm trying to say, maybe you can give a trust if the person/gamblers you know Him/Her well I guess, at least with that you have a guarantee anyhow to get your money back again.
