What Type of Gambler Am I?

I play when I'm a bit stressed out, sort of to escape as it gives me a good feeling about it. But I still have control though, specially when I go out on a land base casino. Just play and forgot about the problems and then go home after relieving myself of anxiety. I must say I belong to the "Conservative Gamblers", simply because I don't intend to go all the way, I have discipline when it comes to gambling and though I lose sometimes I never lose more than what I can afford to lose because I stick with my budget.

Conservative Gamblers I believe are responsible gamblers, we like to enjoy gambling but at the same time we know how to manage the risk.

I am curious whether I am a conservative gambler or a casual gambler, based on the explanation in the original post, I am both. I mean, I set aside money to gamble(it's not a fixed amount since sometimes I like to gamble longer and sometimes shorter) and If I lose the money I set aside, I stop. I also, find gambling entertaining and relaxing and It doesn't really bother me that much if I win or lose.

I'm a conservative gambler. I do it just like some people do sports. Sometimes I run, another day I feel the need to lift weights, another day it's shooting at targets. At times I feel the need to gamble and I dedicate certain amount of money and time. If I run out of money, I stop. If I run out of time, I stop. If I do it with friends and they want to leave, we stop and go together. I never feel addicted and I never miss the money just like I don't miss the money spent on fuel when I feel the need to drive around without a target.

Yes, it's really strange, it certainly can help distract from everything else for a while, but as I understand it, playing slot machines often means losing money. And in the end, personally, such an occupation could only upset me. Even if it is gambling with small amounts for fun, it still upsets me if my bet does not work. If I take on something, I need to win. )

Casual Social Gamblers are winning and I think this is a good thing.
There may be no way I am going back to being a gambler that sacrifices my budget just to double the money. That's just part of me and being young and making bad decisions in my life.
When you have a family you start to just stretch whatever you have. I still gamble but not in an enormous amount as some people do, I am satisfied just putting a bit of fun with my bet and that's why I am stuck with sports betting.

Most of the gamblers nowadays are compulsive gamblers, playing like crazy, spending so much money on gambling without any plans and goals on how to really make profits out of it. They are hotheaded, short-tempered, and not easy to deal with. Even their families are struggling to help them out with their addiction.

Thats not what "Personality Gamblers" meant in the article. Its said that they steal or do illegal things to gamble. Its definition is terrible actually. But if you really mean it then, glad youre not in denial.

Me, I'm still in denial I'm probably Casual Gambler. Maybe I am. I rarely play on casino but mostly bet on sports. Kinda hard to distinguish this but I'm definitely not addicted.

and who would say that he is addicted? no one. by that i mean most people are just saying they are in class X just to not be honest with themselves!

I don't know if I fit into the part of gamblers who if categorized into several groups might realize one thing about gambling activity that is not very good. Personally, I might say I'm just a runaway gambler. The reason is not too focused on studying and also not too addicted to drag me into compulsive gambling activities. That's why I voted which turned out to be around 2 (8.7%) and mostly Casual Social Gamblers with 12 (52.2%).

I can't tell with total certainty whether am a "Casual Social Gambler" or a "Serious Social Gambler". I can see myself on both categories depending on my mood. What is certain is that gambling does not have the same importance and not even close to family and social obligations, that's for sure.
I think the problem is with "Compulsive Gamblers". I know many of them and it is easy to realize if someone has gambling problems but they don't, they live in denial and refuse to accept the reality that they have addiction problems which makes their situation worst.

I guess I am a relief/escape and a conservative gamble. I only gamble on weekends when I don't have anything better to do, or I just want to kill time. I am not a very sociable person, and I tend to hide behind my computer to socialize. I see gambling as a means to socialize and kill time, and boy it has been, so far, good at doing just that. My finances are pretty much set in the next decades or so, hence why I feel like I have the leeway to gamble at my own will. Profiting is the least of my concerns, as I already made enough money to last me the next 10 or 20 years comfortably without forcing myself to work.

Is it possible that the gambler type changes as with the context? What I mean is can someone be a professional gambler at one time and then be a casual, social gambler when he or she is out with friends at a casino? And I'm just thinking too, can someone who has been a professional or conservative gambler revert to being an escape gambler? Aside from gambling to relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. Are there people who visit the casino when they are extremely happy to gamble? Personally, it depends on the situation or context. I may gamble for the fun of it and sometimes, I may gamble with the sole intention to win.

Based on the list i'd fall under the casual social gambler and it's not surprising to see that it got most of the votes since it's one of the best ways to enjoy gambling(prediction pools, betting discussions, sharing picks, etc). Back then i'd probably be in between serious social gambler and compulsive because I used to spend more time gambling and it came to a point where it's becoming unhealthy as I frequently look back at my losses whenever I go on a winning streak.

Perhaps the two have similarities, so gamblers can fall into those two categories.
But maybe what @rhomelmabini said is true because the type of gambler can be influenced by how long they gamble and some people can play for different lengths of play every day.
Once we know the types of gamblers and we are in the type who gamble too often, it might be better if we start changing to the type that doesn't gamble too often to avoid addiction problems.
It will change us for the better by not spending too much money on gambling, even though we have a lot of money.

I would probably call myself a "Relief and Escape Gambler". I definitely have great coping skills which have allowed me to cope with always losing haha. But people do need relief and escape from whatever is going on in their lives, I would think.

But the coping with loss part is really something that all people need. Otherwise they just keep going and going until all their money is gone, forever.

I can't really say I am all that emotional when losing but I do become more and more emotional on winning streaks. Which I think is my weakness, I just do not know when to stop and collect my profits.

LOL! I really thought that this is some kind of Gambling personality test where you need to answer numerous questions regarding the your different behaviour in different circumstances.

But yeah, I think it would be more fun to read if you are given some questions and the result will vary depending on your answer -- just like this one^[1]. Not only you are given insight about what type of gambler you are but you will also learn how your personality is correlated with your gambling behaviour.

The average voter says they fall into the Casual Social Gamblers type , and that's my vote too. I feel like gambling is just for free time, to relax my mind so I can forget some problems. Gambling which is only used as relaxation without thinking about profit certainly does not use big money, because the purpose is only for entertainment, nothing more than that. If you're lucky maybe it's just a bonus.
