It's pretty common sense imo, just that some gamblers tend to get tunnel-visioned by, well, money or the chances of winning it at least, which leads to them basically ignoring the majority, if not all of the common-sense rules a gambler needs to actually keep it in line. Everything the OP mentioned makes sense and is also good, but in reality it's not that easy to implement because the situation will be different as we play.

Most of these are pretty good suggestions overall. I would certainly tend to agree with most of them but a few of them I would push back on just a little bit. #1 & #2 I think are a bit debatable. There really are some very good professional gamblers who do this for a living, so those I would of course not count as part of those guidelines. Otherwise good info.
