Drug addiction is far worse. Its the health of the gambler that is at stake and they can do crimes when high and I agree this is very close to gambling addiction since its the environment that influences a person.

Environmental change is certainly one of the factors that will change our personality, if we live in a good environment then the possibility of our personality will be better, but if we want to stop gambling I think environmental changes do not guarantee we can change gambling habits because all of this is very dependent on our personal intentions, unlike drug addicts where he can stop using drugs when moving to an environment where people don't use drugs at all so addicts can't find a place to buy drugs in that environment.

I agree with you that society and environment can have a great impact and influence on the person's lifestyle, But I think personal will and upbringing also plays important role too, I said this because I personally have lived in a very untidy area, a kind of place called ghetto, this was an area filled with criminals, drug addicts, smokers, gamblers, Alcoholics, persons addicted to different kinds of unlawful attitudes and lifestyles, I lived there and in the mist of all this people, I was never influenced by any of this things probably because of the way I was brought up, all my friends that time were addict smokers and gamblers, but I never smoked or gambled until I school took me out of that ghetto to a better place, I start gambling bit by bit when I was much older and already working for my own money.

So, I personally believe that the way a person is brought up and his or her personal will also plays an important role in what a person can allow to influence him or her in the society.

i agree with you. There are high chances environments can lure people to addictive gambling. It's in very rare occasion where people discipline themselves enough not be get influenced by what the see while they grow. Both scenarios can be possible or not depending on the individual as well if he engages in the activities or resist it to not be involve. This kind of questions is always subjective because not in all instances we can't be so sure even on ourselves or someone else's behavior.

If that person has the resources and access to gamble then it's always possible for him to develop that habit. Even without the influence of other people as long as you're somewhat exposed to it then there's always a chance since gambling limits on several casinos are slowly getting lower. Exactly, it will help to come out of addiction. Society and the environment plays a major role in ones life and it changes one's attitude and completely his / her life. Lots of examples can be said on it. When a student who is a non smoker stays in a hostel along with students smoking and drinking, then yes, one or the other day, he tends to try it out and slowly falls to it. Like wise, when a smoker stays with a group of student who do not smoke, he or she tends to leave smoking or reduces slowly.

If you are secretly gambling and you know how to hide your negative habits then yes no one will know that you're into that activity but what if you are on place where people play classical gambling like cards and mahjong? When you move into a new location with no gamblers, you cant be influenced to play a gambling but it's still possible to travel back on your old place especially if it's not far only to play gambling again. This is maybe applicable to a person who is addicted to a land base casino gambling game.  Moving away from the place where the patient's addiction is nurtured, is one of the better methods of controlling gambling addiction but if the person is addicted to online Casino games, then moving out would do nothing especially if the internet connection is way better than the place he came from. It is better to stay and just cut the internet connection off.
