I don't know whether to give much credibility to a tweet but seeing that this is a news agency from the Netherlands it seems more reliable.

I've googled and I don't see anyone else echoing it.

However, if it happens it will be indeed breaking news.

I found the news after doing a google search including my local media.

• Boris Johnson facing calls to quit as PM as soon as possible
• Boris Johnson to resign as prime minister in statement at 12.30pm

There was so much pressure on Boris Johnson with the various allegations that he stepped down today.

But quoting from Twitter @Keir_Starmer that he is unfit to rule and should leave now.

Boris Johnson is unfit to govern and he needs to go now.

He cannot cling on for months.

If the Conservative party do not get rid of him, then Labour will act in the national interest and bring a vote of no confidence.

Well, it looks like OP was right.

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has resigned.

He will keep the seat though until somebody else will be elected.
It was quite expected development, although I thought it will take a bit longer

Just heard his resignation speech on the news. So much for calling for Moscow regime change,  its his regime that's been replaced. After his resignation, many of his colleague also resigned. Whoever will replace him will have to be tougher to Putin else he'd also end up resigning.

Putin today signed a decree on the release of Boris Johnson from his post, due to the loss of confidence. According to Macron, Boris should have called Putin more often.  

Seriously, this is the usual drama of a populist politician. Boris overinflated his image as a charismatic rebel jester and became too toxic even to his close party comrades.
