People that are using the site can be able to access their fund at any time according to the news, the betting site will have to follow the gambling authority instruction which is 'they have to make customers funds available for the respective customers' at any time during the suspension.

Secondly is that any customers that is active or not active on the site will not be able bet, that alone should let them know that something is wrong, what will finally happen is that they will find out that the betting site is suspended.

If the betting site follow the right way, they would have also messaged their customers to convincingly tell them what is going on, why to be patient and how they are working to solve the issue between them and the regulatory body.

The suspension may even be shown even to every person that access the site, especially if the site have a message or notification page that customers can easily see and check.

I'm afraid the suspicion isn't in any way related to crypto. In the first place--and please anybody correct me if I'm wrong--the gambling platform does not support crypto. So this decision by the UKGC is based on something else. As pointed out by the news, while the particular grounds for the suspicion weren't provided, they were basically about social responsibility and AML procedures.

And it seems Bet-at-home isn't really more of a victim of a tight gambling regulation. For the past 12 months, it has been in trouble with laws of different countries. The platform also faced legal problems in Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany.^[1]

Anyway, I would like to understand how they failed with laundering policies, considering that KYC really helps any tentative to launder. I'll follow this history to see how it will end.

There really isn't anything crypto-related here, it's just a casino that simply failed to comply with the laws and regulations of the organization. Though I guess having a decentralized casino would pretty much avoid this issue of being regulated/governed altogether anyway.

Most probably at that act of social responsibility,I have seen many ads in UK channels although I am far from UK when I see matches live in the internet in those channels and I have seen a couple of Bet-at-home ads which never showed like bet365 and many other well known providers that "Bet responsibly or play responsibly" which I think is mandatory in the UK and many other places in the world.I have seen ads from other providers and they all,provided it said by the person telling the ad or making it appear in the bottom of the screen with big letters visible to anyone watching the ad.I guess most probably is by not abiding by this law but I am not sure.

The Commission has cited concerns that Bet-at-home has been operating contrary to the terms of the Act and has been in breach of its licence. Areas of particular concern that led to the suspension decision were alleged failings in social responsibility and anti-money laundering procedures.

The suspension is in accordance with section 118(2) of the Act, and comes into effect immediately.

The Commission said: “We have made it clear to the operator that during the course of the suspension, we expect it to focus on treating consumers fairly and keeping them fully informed of any developments which impact them.”

The decision to suspend the licence will not prevent Bet-at-home customers from accessing their accounts or withdrawing the available balance, the Commission confirmed.

In a statement on its website, Bet-at-home said: “Dear players, our operations in the UK have been suspended by the UK Gambling Commission until further notice. You are not able to register, bet, play or deposit with us at the moment.”

Reading this I think the suspension may not stay long before the whole imbroglio is resolved. If the gambling site has breached the welfare packages and social responsibilities as enshrined in their terms and conditions of contract in letters of the agreement then they can find ways to put their records straight again with their host and the suspension could be lifted.

even if they wanted to they can't. the article said that although gamblers can access their account and withdraw their funds, they cannot register, deposit or place bets. anyway, I am curious if they have other gambling sites because they said that their "UK operation has been suspended" it makes it sounds like they have other gambling sites operating in other countries. if they have, I think a review on their other gambling sites would be good too.

It's almost impossible to create any decentralized application for a service that runs on FIAT.
Bet-at-home was a FIAT centric casino, so decentralization wouldn't solve any problem here.

We have quite a few decentralized casinos in crypto(if you look for them). Some already have a good reputation which are running on ETH smart contract. That would require its own thread to discuss decentralized casinos in the crypto space.

While majority of the casinos are operating in accordance with the laws from the gambling commission, few are still not abiding the law so they should be warn by this incident. Otherwise, they will be reported and then investigated later on, and worst suspend their license too and stop the operation once proven guilty. So this is a wake up call for every casinos that are taking advantage of their gambler's funds, and not be able to promote social responsibility. Casinos are expected to give advantages to the states, but if they still pursue their selfish desires, that way they will also be reprimanded and should be given proper sanctions.
