...

I was not really very happy with either my mobile wallet nor even my desktop wallet (after the Wasabi betrayal of confidentiality), so I went looking for an alternative, especially one that would work of my mobile device as well as my desktop.

I already own (and am very happy with) both a Trezor T and BitBox02 hardware wallets.

So, I decided to give blockstream.com's offering in the space for both my Win PC and cellphone: https://blockstream.com/green/

All in all, I am pretty happy.  It's easy to use (important for me).  You can adjust the TX fees to whatever sats/vB you want, which is nice (neither of my hardware wallets allow setting EXACT fees).

I like the Green Wallet more than my ancient blockchain.com and bitpay.com wallets for everyday mobile use.  I use the PC version if I want a quick'n'easy transfer from "bcq1..." to/from "3..." addresses (mobile version allows that too).  Another tool I like is that Green can delete wallet info once you're sure you don't need it anymore (uh, do make sure you REALLY want to do that).

EDIT (see below post on August 24): The only thing I would change would be to add a coin control feature, which I could not find anywhere there.

So for quick and easy receipt or purchases of BTC, Green is good!  Of course I quickly send on most BTC from there to a hardware wallet.

There's a way to select which UTXOs you wanna spend but it's only available on desktop as of now, see: https://help.blockstream.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405094845465-How-can-I-manually-select-coins-when-sending-

But why is this on web wallets? I don't see green offering any of that sort.

It's a good looking wallet and almost perfect recommended wallet indeed but their mobile app lacking signature signer/verifier feature unlike mycelium which im currently using.
Although I don't know if their desktop wallet have signature signer/verifier like electrum too but it will be good if has too.

I think green waller is a great option for ios mobile.

There is  a lack of open source ios mobile wallets. There is no electrum for ios :/
I was searching for one recently and green wallet looks like the best option for ios mobile.

It also supports hardware wallets, so looks like a good option

...
I already own (and am very happy with) both a Trezor T and BitBox02 hardware wallets.

So, I decided to give blockstream.com's offering in the space for both my Win PC and cellphone: https://blockstream.com/green/

Have you tried electrum? Personally,  I think it is a better option

While Electrum is wonderful on the PC segment, afaik it's still missing HW support on smartphones. And if somebody wants hard to have pretty much the same application on PC and smartphone may avoid Electrum, no matter how good it is.

While I do like Electrum for PC, for now I am stuck on Android with Mycelium. And I would not mind some "fresh air". So I might give this green wallet a chance, especially since it does support HW and it's also open source.
I'm also eyeing Blue Wallet for its easy LN capability (although unfortunately custodian, I know), but I'm not convinced if it would work with my Ledger Nano S and I didn't have the time for proper tests.

I haven't tried yet, but Muun looks a good wallet for lightning network

It handles everything in lightning for the user, we don't even need to create Channels. Self custody.

Looks good I will try later..

It's ok wallet, but i would be careful with 2-of-2 or 2-of-3 multi-sig address where Blockstream have 1 one of the keys. I don't know if it's still happen, but there are few case where user can't move their Bitcoin easily when Blockstream has some problem[1-2]. Personally, i prefer BlueWallet if i want wallet which exist on both desktop and mobile device.

So for quick and easy receipt or purchases of BTC, Green is good!  Of course I quickly send on most BTC from there to a hardware wallet.
I tested Green wallet last year and I didn't like it.
I would never use this wallet unless you need to use their Blockstream shitcoin clone tokens built on Liquid network sidechain.
They prefer using L-BTC and L-USDT, L-CAD, and other security tokens instead of main chain Bitcoin, and all their liquid tokens are federated.
Multisig used by Green wallet is non-standard, and I believe it is connected with Blockstream server.

Much better wallets for me are Electrum, BlueWallet or Sparrow wallet (I think they have coin control).

ETFbitcoin and dkbit98

Hey, thanks for your comments, I will reply why I still like Green as my easy-to-use, everyday mobile wallet.

First, as many of you longer-term members know I am not particularly adept at technology (not trained, not a programmer).  Simple is good.  I do not use multi-sig (no way).  Nor am I interested in shitcoins or even Lightning/Liquid (both of those are still very fuzzy concepts in this old guy's head).  Some of the off-chain technologies do look like they have great promise, but they're not for me until they become easier to use.

I have looked at Sparrow, but it looks complicated and there was some issue (which I forget at the moment) that make it a no-go for me at least for now.  I am hoping that Sparrow will become easy to use as it DOES have features that look very interesting especially their version of coinjoin.

Nor am I capable of setting up my own node, using LINUX, etc.  It's too late for me to tackle those learning curves.

Simplicity matters.  For me, Green offers me enough features with simplicity.  I get BTC onboard with Green (better for me than blockchain or bitpay), then move them to hardware wallets.  Works for me.

Green wallet is good for temporary use and not for someone who wants to use it permanently because it lacks privacy and money control features.

It is difficult to extract the private key, which makes you lose any chance of calming coins if a hard fork occurs.
that wallet was deleted from bitcoin.org/choose_wallet, and you can't import your backup into another wallet, so you will go to long process using (https://github.com/greenaddress/garecovery) if there was any problem happen to that wallet.

But since there are limited options on iOS, it's fine.

It turns out that Green Wallet DOES have coin control (at least the desktop version, have not checked the web version).  It's just not well documented, nor easy to find.  But, you can manually select UTXOs to send as you work through doing the transaction.

The older versions already have the necessary coin-control options but for some reason, those were grayed-out (unclickable).
Maybe that's what made you think that it's missing that feature.

But yeah, the latest versions' coin control options are now working properly, excluding freeze/unfreeze coin feature.

BTW, Blockstream Green isn't a web wallet, this should be in "Bitcoin->Dev & Tech Discussion->Wallet software" board.

I originally downloaded the mobile version of Green Wallet, then started this thread.  I liked it well enough to also later download the desktop version.  I still have not checked out if the coin control feature can be used in the mobile version, I just found out very recently that coin control can be used in the desktop version.

Pushed up  this thread to not open the new one.

Yesterday  Blockstream Green wallet has been elevated to v. 2.0.0

  • New UI and UX: the user experience has been simplified and streamlined with a more polished, intuitive interface for easier access to key features
  • All-in-one UX: use your existing wallets for both your Bitcoin and Liquid accounts across singlesig and assisted multisig. You have the flexibility to choose whether to combine Bitcoin and Liquid accounts or not, and thus to organize your mainchain and second-layer stacks as you deem fit
  • Simpler onboarding for new Jade users, minimizing ambiguity and errors during the initial setup
  • Sign with address to prove its ownership,

Must confess upgraded Green on my Ubuntu machine looks very attractive but lacks some important features for me. One of them is the pairing with my Passport 2 hardware wallet.

Today I have updated my  Ubuntu Appimage pertaining to Green Wallet  to new. v.2.0.1 which has added

  • "Manual coin selection for L-BTC"
  • "List relevant accounts in the assets details"
  • "Filter for non confidential coins"

What I would appreciate  in the future releases is the ability to send to OP_RETURN which would make me possible to write and store  messages on blockchain.

With v.2.0.1 update it is possible to "Adjust scanning for Jade device frequency'".

Fixes made:

  • "Preserve transaction memo on increase transaction speed"
  • "Fixed watch only login on liquid"
  • "Fix busy indicator of primary buttons"
  • "Restore with QR Code while some words are filled"
  • "Avoid slow application quit"
  • "Layout of manual coin selection view"
