From the developer who brought you Dogecoin cause that's just makes me feel better......... Is he actually the same guy? The original developer of Bells, also made Dogecoin. However, due to the overwhelming success of Doge, he abandoned this project. Vorfeed1 has added the walletnotify method to the git. I have someone else creating a new window's binary for the coin. There are plenty of other things that need to be done if you know anyone that can help. Big news coming soon. Glad to have you all here!

Looks interesting. How does it differ from all the other coins currently out there, though? I'll take a look at the source code, but seeing as I'm no programmer, I probably won't understand it at all.

It's a lot of fun to mine, has great specifications, and is rare. It's not too late to get in on the action! To everyone: I have just added a donation address in the OP. All funds from this address will be used to provide bounties for the many things Bells needs to have done. I know there are plenty of Bells whales out there, and I am asking you to step up to ensure this happens. If you would like to wait for a block explorer so you can keep an eye on the funds, that's fine by me. Network hash is growing faster than I could have ever imagined. Keep at it guys. Bells Rock! and so do you!

It will always match the name of the appdata/roaming/[coinname] folder, in this case it's called "bells", so name the configuration file "bells.conf"

Correct, the coin was already launched. The original developer abandoned the coin, as he saw great success with Doge. This is why the coin is being relaunched. Bells Rock, and you obviously don't.

The rewards are actually more reasonable than Dogecoin.

You might want to add the links to the voting pages for exchanges on the OP, thanks!

Updated the checkpoints and version info in the git.
Other then that, the wallet needs a lot of work, its using really old code. Have read over a lot of the ideas. logo will be changed too.
Will work on the wallet more over the weekend.

> Difficulty Retarget Time: 4 hours beware of multipools killing it You are very correct.... this retargeting has caused problems in the past.... something to look into when updating the wallet... Until the coin is traded, however, should not be a huge issue...

Yes, definitely! giving you some hashrate now
Some? Wow that's another 4-5mh/s, awesome! Edit: The developer is going to be adding a difficulty retarget change. Maybe something like DigiShield, I don't even know what this is but hopefully it helps alleviate any multipools taking advantage.

Wow! Look at Bells go!
I agree with you all regarding the need for digishield or kgw. Your voices are heard.
We have a second faucet in the OP now. A block explorer is still high on our priorities list.
We still need more donations. Someone sent 50k bel to my personal address, which is being rerouted to the bounty address.
A lot of hard work has already gone into this project, and I want to ensure that everyone who is a part of this is compensated.

You can cpu mine bells, but at this point you probably wouldn't find anything. You would just point your scrypt cpu miner at the wallet or the pool if you wanted to give it a shot. We need more donations to the bounty address! I have contracted people to do several things for the coin and they need to be paid! The current balance in the OP is accurate but does not cover the costs of the things we have in store for Bells. Still looking for permanent nodes too. I have added a bounty for them in the OP. You can use the search feature to browse either by txid or block hash. An address explorer is currently unavailable due to known exploits. At this point, another MPOS style pool would be nice. We are still looking for more dedicated nodes too. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. None of this could happen without you. Bells Rock!

CharityMiningPools - Donate to Charity while you Mine! bells.charityminingpools.comCome mine while making a difference. Mandatory 0.75% donation fee goes to The BitGive Foundation this month. We welcome and encourage you to donate more to a good cause. SSL, STRATUM, VARDIFF, Datacenter Redundant Server Farm, Load Balanced Servers, Frequent Backups 0.75% Mandatory Donation fee to a Good Cause, 0.75% Pool Fees, 0% AP TX Fees Who Are We?CharityMiningPools was created to allow miners the ability to mine coins while still knowing that their hashing power is going towards something good. Our goal is to provide a positive and reliable service while delivering a small portion of the proceeds to a deserving recipient. Plans are in the works to allow individual miners to choose where they would like to donate to based on a pool of available recipients. How Does This Work? All coins minded at CharityMiningPools will require a mandatory 0.75% Donation fee. This donation fee will be collected and donated to the designated charitable recipient for that given month. Though we only require a minimum 0.75% Donation fee, we welcome and encourage our miners to raise the stakes and donate more to a good cause. Cheers! CharityMiningPools

Edit: Added IRC webclient to my page, just change the nick and connect http://cryptocoinexchanger.com/Very simple, but works. Also good to see the hashrate spreading, gonna add 10mhashes to my pool later.

Awesome webpage for bells coming soon @ bellscoin.org.
I have contacted bellscoin.com, as he is holding 200k of bells in donations, but I haven't gotten a response. If he were to send them to the bounty address, we could get a lot done.
As for coinmarketcap, that's excellent forward thinking! Should we wait until the fork though? Any opinions?
I'd like to see more people step up with ideas. Your voices are heard!

No need to wait for the fork.... all CoinMarketCap requires is the website, a link that produces the number of coins in circulation ( usually an api call to a block explorer ) and a link to the logo, and an exchange to get the pricing....... they do not need a wallet at all..

Don't be mean... you could add it to the OP as a 'minor exchange' perhaps... we should not be 'laughing' at anyone who is trying to help... just my humble opinion... Anyway, I sent out 2800 BEL to some folks at cryptofury... after two days we had 14 folks... I sent 200 BEL each... I have given Cryptofury himself 5000 for his twitter giveways,... I have a few more to send for the 'stragglers' who show up I was gifted 10,000 BEL total for giveaways and have managed 7800 of them so far.... Lets keep up all the good works! Also REMEMBER all the places you are doing this type of stuff on.... we will have to announce the hard fork to all of them or they will get left behind... Aloha!

You don't have to verify to trade cryptos, but if you want to trade with USD you will need to verify. The "personal things" they ask are very common among any other place that you'd want to use USD.

I cannot trade UDS anyways as I'm in Europe Right now, new registrants are automatically given PRO accounts, which means more trade orders at once, etc. After a certain amount of time it will expire into a normal account (for you this is 24 April). PRO accounts are actually $29/month. You do NOT need to verify, ever.

Also just because your in Europe does not mean you can't trade in USD. AT can send payment by check or bank wire. All you need is some photo ID, proof of address (bill addressed to you) and use a medical card in place of SSN number.

25 getting more interesting to buy them than to mine them then I guess Current Block Rewards are as follows: Blocks 129601-259200 (~2nd 90 days) 1% 5000 Bells 5% 500 Bells 10% 250 Bells 14% 125 Bells 20% 50 Bells 50% 25 Bells HALF the time is is 25 BEL.... the other HALF the time it is 50 BEL or greater up and including 5000 BEL... We just started this phase and it will be like this for another 2 months ( or a little more )...

Yes, I'm mining again, bought some too! Great site! Looking forward to the updated wallet.
Hitting those 5k block rewards are so fun. It's like finding an oasis in the desert, so rare but very refreshing when mined!

Big things coming this week for Bells guys! I am very excited!
If anyone would be kind enough to donate in order to reduce our operating costs, we would greatly appreciate it.
Maintaining a webpage/services can get expensive, and we have largely gone out of pocket until this point.
Thank you in advance everyone!

Sure: Bellscoin.org was purchased through godaddy - 12.99 / per year. webhosting as godaddy - $2.99/month breaks down to just under $5.00 a month... I sure hope that didn't break the bank! Also, since you're using azure for your sites... it's probably even cheaper!

Have you factored in the cost of web development/coin development? They are asking for any donations, if you don't want to donate, that's fine, but you don't have to show your ass.

jeez guys, I'm sure you are all the ones running for bounties in the first place and someone building a web site does not have the right to get a few $$
I really do not see the problem here.. what about all those 50+ premine?
Website looks real nice, for a coin having only a few pages here on bitcointalk its way better than some older coins around.

Bellscoin is a much older coin, it was created buy the same dev as Doge, but dropped when Doge went big.

Bellscoin is a much older coin, it was created buy the same dev as Doge, but dropped when Doge went big. Bells had NO premine.... it was just ignored for so long that it SEEMS like it... We are in phase two of the block rewards.... there are plenty of Bells to be mined.... Blocks 129601-259200 (~2nd 90 days) 1% 5000 Bells 5% 500 Bells 10% 250 Bells 14% 125 Bells 20% 50 Bells 50% 25 Bells You can solo a 5000 BEL block still..... Difficulty is: 0.46619242 Maxcoins is: 500,000,000 Current number in existence: 41,871,788 We have a long ways to go.... even if that was 'premined' that is nowhere near 50 percent... Jump in and mine while the mining is good!

I am not sure about the when... but you can assuredly keep mining right now.... the fork will be set in the future... Difficulty is 0.23472169 ( scrypt ) and there are still 5000 BEL blocks to be found

It gets some time to generate the address, just wait a little and it will appear (maybe i can work a better way to generate them, i'm using the wallets directly to generate the addresses). Probably if you return to the site you'll get the address immediatly.

Ok guys, I have some information for you about the fork! We have a new developer on the team (not that the first one couldn't handle the fork because he rocks! He has been very sick). The fork is being rapidly worked on. I expect it to be released sometime next week. I deeply apologize for stringing you guys along, but thank you to our supporters for keeping the pressure on! Bells Rock! Stick with it, you won't be sorry

I'd be VERY WARY of this pool. His account is only a few days old, he's setting up pools everywhere... and one of his pools has already had 20+ BTC mysteriously disappearHe said "sorry", then disappeared from that thread as well. I'm not judging, just pointing out what happened with this guy and another coin earlier today.

What do all of you guys think about increasing block times to 2 minutes instead of 1 minute on the hard fork? It would lengthen the mining 'eras'... instead of 45 more days ( or so ) we would have another 90 days for the current rewards... and 180 days would become 360 days for the next 'era' and extend the life of the coin for miners ( in a way )

Thank you very much Klaus!!!
Holy Wow!!! Thank you so much!!!
With this being said, I am opening the floor to you guys for ideas on what to spend our new bells on.
I'll check back later today to see if we have any good ones. Also, Kbroadfoot has brought up an interesting proposition of increasing the block time to 2 minutes to extend mining with the fork. Any thoughts?

Any updates to when this fork will be happening. I'm anxiously waiting.
My guess is after the fork, BEL could get onto a few more exchanges, am I correct in my thinking? Has there been any effort to do so already?
The net hashrate seems decent lately.

Make sure your Bells.conf is named exactly like the Users/Name/App/Roaming/Bells file directory. Might try deleting everything except the Wallet.Dat and config file and running the wallet again (after confirming the correct .conf file name) Let me know if it worked

I don't know, any chance we can look into getting a dedicated developer here? I wouldn't mind dropping some BTC into the fund if we can use some in getting an actual developer to update the wallet. People are still mining this up, a rather constant 30mh/s

Honest Update:
First Developer went MIA, so we brought another developer onto the team to finish the project.
He has also gone MIA, which leaves us nowhere.
I'm looking into hiring a developer to get this done.
If anyone donates anything to the btc address in the OP, it will go straight toward hiring someone.
I can also offer bells as payment to a dev.
If anyone knows of a good, honest developer who would become a part of this community, send me a pm.
I apologize for my lack of communication. I've been working 70+ hours a week as of late, and it has eaten away at my free time.
I promise the update will happen. Do not sell your bells.

Thank you for the honest update. People have definitely not given up on BEL, the hashrate has been stable lately. The price is rising a bit, and once the update happens we'll see BEL on a few more exchanges I'm sure.

I finally made Hero Member! Grats!!! The bells difficulty is about 1.2 now, were there big hashers over the night? Now gotta wait a few more hours for it to retarget. Without the update this is annoying to mine. I'm interested in buying some BEL prypto cards, when will that become a reality? We should do a major marketing push before July 4th.

Awesome! We need it ASAP. Digishield update is very much needed. There's 70mh/s again on BEL, once the difficulty dropped back to 0.3. Some people are taking advantage of it and will make some good profit off it in the future. Sneaky sneaky! Thank you Mogrith for the awesome promo images!

The fork includes digishield difficulty retargeting and 2.5 minute block times, rather than 1 minute block times.
This should extend mining. Thank you all for your patience!

Awesome to see that the fork went as planned. We're on block 203038 now.
Based on the new difficulty changes and block time, BEL is completely undervalued right now. Buy it up while it's cheap!

Anyhow, if possible, could someone start marketing for BEL in the doge community (on Reddit and their forum)? This may be a good task for Kbroadfoot. If you get it done I can be sure to donate some more BEL your way. Thanks!

Beat me to the Announcement! Or maybe I'm just really slow. We're happy to announce that we have added some new features to CryptoBlox. With the recent update to the website, we now offer faucets and a new mining portal to allow people to mine directly to their wallets. As stated above, we choose to add in Bells as one of our start-up pools. More changes and features to come, check back with us often. www.cryptoblox.com

Block 259201 coming...
Only 18,600 block left until 'halving'
The next reduction is way more than half....
Better jump on and get in some mining before the 5000 reward blocks are gone forever...

Where to find a working pool for bells ?
I join the speaker questions. It works a p2pool? How to configure Pooler-cpuminer-2.4-win32 to him?

BLOCK 259200 has been struck.
Random rewards halved down 10 times now.
Do you think it move price up? otherwise why YAY? block reward now mainly 5 instead of 25BEL. YAY because BEL finally reached that milestone. It would normally have some impact on the price, however with the fact that there is only about 7mh/s on BEL right now, I don't think many people care. There would need to be another force to drive the price. BryonP from Atomic-Trade once mentioned that BEL would be integral to the new site and CCS (crypto coin store), if this becomes the case then yes, the price will definitely rise. I have sold many BEL already and are definitely not the BEL whale I used to be.

bells removed from the service! It was there earlier today but has been removed. what reasons? someone did not have time to buy bells. induces panic. no other reasons. I easier to delete the bells. bells than to sell. My target 1BEL=1$ for 15 years PS. bells not removed from the service cryptonator. I guess I said the truth It would be good in the near future 1BEL = 1-10 cents (I think that this should be with a block size 2 bells)

The value is calculated from the time and difficulty of previous blocks. This "past performance" value will be totally bogus if new blocks are not being regularly added to the chain.

Try connecting to 203.20.114.252
I've found one other peer, but it has a completely different version and block count, so I suspect it's not a BEL client.
Pulled 950 historical peer IPs out of my logs, so the client is trying them all now.

45.50.28.121 still I connected to 203.20.114.252 yea! we might just be live again I've synced to you (height 370974) but the last block was minted nearly a year ago. How long has your wallet been off? If you dropped out but others kept mining past that point, neither of us will have the full chain, and any mining by either of us will create a fork. Hey everyone, fire up your old wallets so we can properly agree on the correct blockchain. addnode=203.20.114.252

And it looks like you've connected to me, I'm now at height 410490, but you dropped off before it fully synced. What happened? 203.20.114.252 is a dedicated 24/7/365 server with a static IP, so with such a tiny network (currently) it would make sense to get this node fully synced.

Any chance you have the blockchain still? Maybe put it onto the network, I've added the nodes. I used to have a crapload, but now I'm sure my wallet is like 200k, anyways, could probably put half that into someone willing to revive this coin.

Not sure I needed to 'fully sync' - I first started with BEL in 2014 so it's more likely that the network was active, then everyone slowly dropped off, and I ended up being the last one running a client (at least, one with a global listening port). The trouble with a fledgling or dying network is that it's easier to split, with two halves unaware of each other, each side extending their own fork of the original chain. I have no idea if someone else continued mining with another random peer at some point after I lost my last connection. How about we kick start this? My mining system is ignoring the coin because the last block was too long ago, but a single block will get it noticed again.

Yeah, that would be me. My low diff system ignores a coin with a stale blockchain, but will jump back in when it sees things moving again. Each coin is allocated a modest 0.3MH/s but that's still enough to push the BEL difficulty up a fair bit from minimum, probably enough that CPU mining won't work.

Curious how much of that ~43 million BEL in your capture is part of the total supply. 43 million would take a loooong time to mine these days (if it were even possible)

I will figure this out for exact amount later. Gotta hit the hay, but for now 52m coins is not so bad, of course like I said most coins are probably lost. The subtle interesting part is getting to the 518400 block for which all coins mined will be worth just 2 BELL. The expectation was that we would get there probably this year or so with continuous mining, but without the mining effort we have not achieved it. Could be a good revival coin, I will have my miner on it by tomorrow.

Nevermind on mining, I just can't. Why is there no GPU solo mining software anymore? I know asics took over.
Anyhow, whomever is mining, good luck to you.
If we can get a pool that'd be great.

If you look around you should be able to find a version of cgminer that supports GPUs. You will be expending a fair amount of power compared to an ASIC, but I'm sure you know that. Can't help with the pool unfortunately, I run a pool (of sorts) but it's custom software written for internal use by a single entity, so it lacks essential features (such as accounts, tracking, payouts etc). I've never set up standard pool software.

2017-10-30 14:43:01 Network diff set to 5.93K Divide by 65536 to get the scrypt difficulty that's displayed by the wallet. Not sure why cgminer displays it in raw form like that. 5930 / 65536 = 0.0904

Been a little while.... someone or some people are still mining it. With the recent release and re-interest in Animal Crossing, I'm surprised someone hasn't pulled this coin out of the graveyard yet and re-branded it back to it's roots. Most importantly being that it was created by Billym2K (creator of Doge, before Doge existed). https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=349695.0

So what's the easiest/cheapest exchange to get this on. I want to unload, doesn't matter the price, if anything get it distributed.
I start up the no-hassle wallet once and a while to see if it's still going, sync within minutes because of some miners still going. So why not put this back on an exchange?

I think overhyped coins and scam ICOs have pushed up listing prices. Exchanges seem to be getting really greedy lately, because they have "devs" who will pay the listing fees just to be able to dump their coins. For example, the listing fee on Novaexchange was 0.9 BTC, then instead of being adjusted downwards (to match BTC's rocket rise in value) it actually went up to 1 BTC. Plus you only get 65% refunded if it's rejected. On Cryptopia to acquire enough DOT (their internal currency) to make up the listing fee will cost you 3 to 5 BTC, maybe even more. $50k just to get your coin listed? Don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting they're all like this. But lately it seems the ones I'm using have been getting really greedy. They'll make more money listing coins than with trading fees.

Perhaps reach out to Bryon Penner? He worked on keeping the coin going on his site atomic-trade.com, which turned into banx.io, and finally www.coinigy.com (senior developer there). Or, desperately reach out to BillyM2k (Dogecoin dev) that initially worked on this coin (before dogecoin). A bump from him would obviously be good. I think they changed their username however. Doesn't seem the coin is being actively mined anymore however. Good luck!
