You are very correct.... this retargeting has caused problems in the past.... something to look into when updating the wallet...
Until the coin is traded, however, should not be a huge issue...

Edit: The developer is going to be adding a difficulty retarget change. Maybe something like DigiShield, I don't even know what this is but hopefully it helps alleviate any multipools taking advantage.
