At-Home miner from Moon Labs - for Solo Miners and Bitcoin enthusiasts

Hi guys!

I am proud to announce that our small team is almost finished with the development of a silent, tiny, powerful, energy efficient, Mac mini-sized Bitcoin miner - Moon Miner! Ideal for striking Crypto Gold in Solo Mining or just for experiments with Bitcoin.

We are planning to start manufacturing two variants, with the same design / power consumption but different hashrate (and power efficiency).

Moon Miner v1:

• Power consumption: up to 300W on the wall
• Hashrate: up to 4 TH/s
• Size: Mac mini-sized device
• Price: TBD

Moon Miner v2:

• Power consumption: up to 300W on the wall
• Hashrate: up to 8 TH/s
• Size: Mac mini-sized device
• Price: TBD

We are finalizing the designs, and hope to provide photos/logs from real devices within ~1 month.

Company registration is in progress right now, I'm expecting to have the company settled right before sales start.

I'm not sure if you already have a prototype, but I'm interested in knowing the noise/dB levels on them.

I'll provide the measurements once the near-production design is up and running.

We have an engineering sample with a 15 x 20 cm PCB size and will try to not be significantly bigger than Mac mini casing

What ASIC chip are you using? The website says the v2 uses 5nm process, which is pretty fancy! The efficiency (0.0375 J/GH) seems about right when you count cooling, controller and power supply.

It all depends on how the cooling will be done, it's not that small if we talk about volume, the specs tell 2520 cm3 while the Apollo is ~1500 cm3, but it does have 100W extra so it matches somewhat. Note that it says Mac Mini size but it's 200mm x 90mm x 140mm so, I guess it will be 14 cm in height, unlike the mini who is flatter and wider, probably because of the fan. Without being an expert I would say it's doable, the noise...that is something else.

I was also curious about the chip used given that 5nm process ain't cheap.  Always nice to see more competition out there in the mining space.  If you need somebody to provide you with a review, let me know.    Love me some home miners.  What voltage do you see these things running at?  Assuming 110v to easily integrate with typical home electricity circuits.  Right now it seems the only competition for a device like this is the Apollo miner, and this one appears to be more efficient.  Any details about how loud this will be or a ballpark on pricing for each unit?  Will it have a standalone power supply or an included one?

Could well be using some of the Bitmain or MicroBT 5nm chips same as Sidehack uses 7nm in his CompacF. The Apollo uses Bitfury chips.

I highly doubt they could have come up with the >8million $ it costs for the litho masks alone much less design costs + Foundry production costs to roll their own.

  I guess v2 5nm chip is from Intel BlockScale ASIC (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/docs/blockchain/custom-asic-product-brief.html).
 
  BlockScale ASIC is guessed by adopting TSMC 5nm process. Hope to see the product soon.
