As we all are seeing the launching of new projects one after one. So, one should take care of many things before investing. How to know the real potential of these new projects?

I see if the project is good or not. I often monitor via telegram on Twitter there. I see project progress and I see investors invest in project coins. If there is little investor confidence, the project has the potential to fail, that's my experience in monitoring projects.

Almost every day there are new projects launched, both those listed in this forum and those that are not listed.
But to see that the project has the potential to succeed is their work partner, a trusted team. Roadmaps and whitepapers are no longer a reference for project success, because many projects are out of the current roadmap.

I think it's still good to look at the whitepaper and roadmap, so that we will know if they have the potential.

But the problem is that the crypto space are so saturated that the projects are almost the same now. Even others copy each others whitepaper and there are no uniqueness of the project itself, so it's hard to know the potential until it was released. As compare to the early years wherein every 10 released, at least half of them is going to be very successful, but not today. Besides, the people behind are not to be trusted or they are just creating projects for pump and dump purpose or even scam investors.

Which is the main reason why so many people are losing interest in investing in those projects, right now we have tens of thousands of coins in the market, do we really need that many? How many different coins have you actually used during the last year? In my case only one and it is bitcoin.

So most of the coins being released today are not only just copies of other projects, we do not really need them for anything, and this explains why the majority of the projects collapse and disappear during their first year of existence.

Of course, if what they develop has an influence on some other crypto, investors will not leave the project. Instead, investors leave because what they are developing does not have anything of value in the project. If it's just developing coins to sell on the exchange, I don't think there's a need for too many coins. The most important thing about a project is bargaining value.

VC will shill their projects so they can make profit and not the other way round. The losers will again invest in another similar hyped project and the cycle will repeat.

Potentially projects are almost equal to zero at this time. So better to keep bitcoin on focus and not go with any altcoin.

No my friend, a telegram group that gets posts everyday or a twitter page that shills everyday does not mean it is a good project. Rather proper development happening in the background with updates coming in the foreground is a good project. The first one is very common and you will be surprised to see how many shitcoin projects keep updating their pages with bots and not do acutal development at all. Obviously you cant expect better from amateurish teams like the ones that set up such projects.

None of this can be a "guarantee" and hence the altcoin projects are a risky bet or a complete gamble to put your money on.

We can judge the potential of a project by several characteristics like the team, whitelist, roadmap, partners... all good but there is still a chance the project becomes a scam. Therefore, when investing in new projects, we should be extremely cautious and most importantly be ready to take risks in the first place. We won't be able to know exactly what the end goal of the project owner or team developer is until it actually happens.

That's the problem of how a person will know that it is a potential projects when as you have said there are lots of projects that are popping up out of nowhere and most of it are scam. Knowing a non scam project is very hard as if you use a percentage about a scam and legit projects then you can say that 1% of it are legit and the rest are scam projects. Better do a lot of research before investing in such projects.

Indeed it is very difficult but there is a process to check if the project is highly likely a scam.  I always look at the developers or people behind the project.  If their picture is cartoonized without any link to the personal profile of the developer, I often skip them because for me it is a red flag.  They are asking for money of course they need to show us who they are.  Another thing is the return offer, if they put in their project description a return of x times, then that is another red flag for me.  We can also dig deeper into the background of the developer if they are really those people and really have those achievements because lots of projects often exaggerate their developer's attainment.

i also know about this project, the development team is still working and their communication channels are still active, the project is not abandoned yet
the price drop to such extremes is partly due to the fact that the cifi development team increased the supply by 10x and the price adjustment to match the total new supply was made before the bear season arrived
the bad thing about this project is that they didn't pay the bounty hunters, they appropriated most of the rewards by not distributing all of them after the end of the campaign, which is a pity for such a project

that's why we need to do research gradually and continuously, so that we know when the potential of a coin we can say will be good, and when the potential will decrease. CIFI is a vivid example of that. however, it is very difficult to know whether a project has potential or not unless they may be able to withstand any highly volatile market movement. some projects sometimes come up with fantastic prices, but they don't last long, or sometimes they seem to have great potential, but sometimes they produce too many coins with project functionality that is not really needed so that their projects fall by themselves.

It is true that we should never stop doing research and analysis on a regular basis, it will help us find potential coins for investment. Moreover,
the number of coins circulating is increasing, if we are not careful and do research regularly, then we can choose the wrong projects for investment.
Even the top 10 coins often change, I remember Dogecoin and Litecoin were in the top 10, but now the two coins are not included in the top 10
