This is not the first time about the hacking incident and yet many still trust cryptocurrency, though this is very unfortunate incident and many wallets are already affected. Hopefully there's still a solution for this because hackers are really good to bypass the security system of every project. SOL is a good one, I don't know what went wrong but they should address this issue and bring the updates to the public as soon as possible. If you're a victim as well better to wait for the update, don't panic and let's see how the SOL team will handle this.

I think this isn't the first time they've received an attack. IIRC, it was a few months ago but it wasn't broadcasted a lot due to some reasons and they were able to contain it.

Those that own solana will now think of their decisino if it's still worth to hold it for long. I have no issues of holding it as they're one of the most successful projects in the market.

That will be so difficult to identify this. i meant bunch of people got affected and i thought that those who affected in this case will not be reimbursed and they will be permanently loosing their money yet there was a chance for dapps who got affected reimburse people's money but i doubt if that will be happening. So far those dapps have no money to make it happen. Those people can't get back their money. This is clearly affecting the trust for cryptocurrency in general. The blockchain that already claimed to be the most decentralized got attacked pretty easy by getting ddosed.

Yes, the root cause of the problem is still under investigation. They still haven't announced the clear reason why hackers were able to pass through security and drained people's wallets. But what is being clarified is that the compromise didn't happen on Solana's level. The Solana network is not where the problem is. The attack is linked to the use of hot wallets, particularly Slope, in particular in the importing of accounts to and from the said wallet.

I won't recommend moving funds from a hot wallet to an exchange wallet. That does not make much difference. Move funds to cold wallets or at least to non-custodial wallets that are open source.

That's your way until the team on solana found a way to stop this attack. Well, I didn't hold solana so I don't have problem with the attack but storing it on an exchange even if it's a top exchange. What if the attack caused the price to drop very low then that means the value of your solana to usd will be much lower than its value before. Since it's your choice to do that but if I were you, I would just sell solana and buy Bitcoin and once the attack stopped then I will buy solana again to hold. It's better to be safe than sorry (attack situation).

I've heard of this attack too, but I actually feel that crypto is more attractive to hacker attacks than ever before. So many incidents, from small to large, that have happened and now continue to be Solana. Some of the issues that I read about are not managing assets across platforms and gaining access, sadly seeing large sums of money managed with ease.

This is really sad for those people who work hard to acquire those coins and they patiently hold them till they see the right time to sell them when the market is recovering. Now they lose it all due to those hackers that don't really give up on their obvious motives to steal money from innocent people. It's really hard to avoid such kinds of attacks since most people are not aware of how their crypto got stolen and they can't do anything about it either. This is one of the problems of the crypto industry if only there is someone who can successfully track these bad guys and put them in their right place.

Just hours ago, Solana is being attacked. As of this posting, the attack hasn't ended yet. So far, the stolen amount has already exceeded $6 million.
It is advised for users to start "unlinking browser-based Solana wallets from all internet sites, and moving funds to a new clean wallet." And this is urgent.

I don't own any Solana myself because i missed the opportunity to buy a year ago or so when it was still below 10 $ per coin, therefore i don't follow the developments and news around Solana not that closely and still this is already the 5th or 6th hack of something solana related or something that was built upon Solana that i heard of in the last few months. I am actually surprised that the price of Solana is not really reacting that much when such events are happening. Today Solana is down a few percents more than the rest of the market but still nothing dramatic in my opinion. Of course it is very dramatic for everyone involved in the hack.
If i can get Solana for below 30$ i will probably buy a few.

I am also grateful that this disaster did not happen to me. I still have some SOLs in my Phantom wallet. after this news, I immediately checked and moved it on the exchange as well. still left some tokens in my wallet, but I think it's okay. most important assets with a sufficiently large value have been secured.

Yeah, it seems like the pitchfork points toward Slope. They stored users’ private key information in plain text, allegedly. God damn, can you imagine in 2022 and somehow, this app connects to user cryptos, money worth thousand of dollars stored in users’ private keys in plain text without any encryption? That's very hard to believe. Just simple user's information, not just private key or security-related already understood to be stored in encryption.
