While I truly support decentralized mining (best achieved with gpus) I am absolutely DISGUSTED by the ETHW or eg. DCRN project.

Etheremine announced today that their staking pool will be without US citizens. The new POS network will move away from US servers because the POS holders are financing the biggest money laundering network in the world and their funds can be confiscated. Ethereum 2.0 will become a Tornado POS network owned and run from Russia, Iran and North Korea.

The law is simple.

Stablecoins will have to leave the network because all of the validators are banned from the US.

That's why we need ETHW and POW mining. A safe, legal and secure place for the stablecoins.

If you buy a Kebab Shop in New york City for 32 ETH ($50 000) and use it to launder money, the FBI will shut it down and take your investment. Tornado cash is an illegal Coin that is running on the Ethereum Smart contract network, a stake validator is indirectly supporting this illegal activity by validating and profiting on these transactions.

The shit storms nearing us. I have 7.5gh in eth mining and 2.5 gh in etc mining.

I am hoping EthW goes on exchanges I use and mining pools I use.

coinex
coinbase
binance.us

viabtc.com mining

I will move more from my eth mining this weekend.

So another platform that the US people can't use. Its funny. It one of the largest financial capital of the world. However if any small fish wants a piece of the pie they are forbidden. Just like with the pattern day trader rule. You need $25K to day trade. Saying its to prevent losses. And since most people don't have $25K saved up, they can't day trade.

Same goes with the crypto futures and such. Its getting pretty ridiculous living in that country. And the excuse it always the same. "Its to protect the consumer".

This might would work if ETHW uses a new algorithm like eg. progpow but with ethash there is only room for asics.

It's not to protect idiot day traders, it's to protect their victims when they can't make their margin calls.

ETHW $50  ( 52.44 TH/s estimate)

Proof? There is a list of pools with ETHW support?

I don’t think that is it. The margin is very low for stocks. It’s 3x for large cap stocks. Very illiquid stocks you don’t have margin generally. Many $1 stocks or so also don’t have 3x leverage.

And if you don’t cover your negative balance they will basically send the collection agency after you. Since they have all your data.

I worded that poorly. I meant it protects the victims of the idiot traders. Sure the collection agency will go after the idiot traders but
they can't recover what doesn't exist. Meanwhile the victims are left holding the bag. The barrier to entry is to reduce the number of
day traders that can't cover their losses.

I would also love to see that,I know that this will be available soon but so far I have not seen it live anywhere, not that I searched a lot,I have switched to mining ETC from early August and I am happy so far with the outcome.

We desperately need that ETHW pool in order for all the hash rate to not go to just a couple of coins but a new one, presumably the substitution of ETH mining and hopefully we see good things, this way even the other coins will not see that huge hash rate coming into them which would in no way be beneficial to miners.

No pools yet because the fork has not yet happened (only a testnet). Ethereum mining pools should switch to the ethereumPOW wallet after the merge.

https://EthereumPoW.org/

If the price holds, 2.5%-10% of the ethereum hashrate will move to ETHW, and creating the largest gpu minable coin in the world.

You mine ETH at the moment and the network is full with ASIC´s. Is ETH also unmineable for you with GPU at the moment?
After the merge, all profits drop much, so your sentence is senseless.

If 90% of the gpu miners stop mining, it will be profitable. And we don't know the price of the coin eighter. Just guessing based on the future markets.

I am guessing a profit of $0.2 - $0.3 for 100MHASH ethash a few days after the merge.

That is exactly why they will change to this new algorithm ETHW so all the GPU mining can continue with this new coin,we don't know how things will go but as a first step we need the pools live as soon as Ethereum mining moves to PoS which will make it not mineable anymore.

Asics have their own market share but it may be that because of the initial price of this new ETHW coin the Asics won't be profitable at all but even if they can be profitable why do we care,we are all mining in the same network and sharing the pie with each other, that has also been the case with Ethereum mining so it is nothing new with ETHW fork.

As long as it's ears from a dead donkey.

But this does not make sense because the pool needs to install a modified geth with support ETHW before the fork if we want to keep the block chain working, not reanimate the corpse.

So far, the only option available is to sync your own geth instance and mine solo.

Found a testnet pool but don't know anything about it.

Not reanimate the corpse.

Why the rush? Ethereum is still minable. Many of the mining pools are still on old blockchain software, and/or have renamed the version number. :-D

Why are gpu miners trying to keep ethash alive? This is a loosing battle since asic devices are already up to 5x times more efficient.
At the moment it is still a transition phase for ethash asics but gpus are on the loosing end.
Once asics saturate any given ethash algo its over for gpus to compete.

It makes absolutely no sense as a gpu miner to support ethash anymore.

We need to switch to the next best asic resistant or better yet asic neutral algo.

Progpow algo is the closest to asic neutrality people came up with so, yes, it makes truly the most sense for gpu miners to support this algorithm.

It boggles my mind how short sighted you gpu miners are ... you guys actually shoot in your own foot and pretend it is ok supporting eg. ETHW

This. If we are so worried about centralization from PoS why are we not concerned about centralization from ASICs?

ProgPoW would be the best solution for decentralization and would benefit the GPU miners more than any other algo due to the difficulty of building ASICs/FPGA Bitstreams that would give specialized hardware an unfair efficiency advantage.

It boggles my mind how many GPU miners are set on working against their own interests because they read some FUD about ProgPoW and run with that instead of thinking critically as to why exactly ProgPoW consumes more power and why it was created in the first place.
