Apparently so,

https://thedefiant.io/pow-die-hards-plan-to-fork-and-mine-original-ethereum-after-the-merge

And poloneix will already support potential forks:

No doubt if POLO has become the first exchange site who announced to fork the potential forks. https://www.investing.com/news/cryptocurrency-news/trons-justin-sun-open-to-donating-forked-eth-to-ethereum-developers-on-one-condition-2865341

Justin was holding 1 millions ethereum and so the fork potentially give him another 1 millions ethereumW. The fork is still remain a big questions.

To be honest if ethereum core developers didn't wanna do that by forking the blockchain to releasing another coin but POW is unhealthy caused by collution between the miners.

The Ethereum Merge Resistors: Can They Succeed?
"A prominent Ethereum miner has now gained a notable ally in resisting the merge and forking ETH. How far can they go?"

A lot of questions arise about the work of the defi ecosystem in the new fork. If this ecosystem does not work for developers, then the future of the coin is very doubtful.

so it will definitely happen. It is quite normal that Poloniex also supports it. But the important point here is will the system continue to work in a healthy way after these bifurcations? Or will block resolutions be achieved successfully? These are important questions. But as I always say, vitalik is a very intelligent person and I think he thought about the problems and difficulties of such studies. As a result, there is a plan to change the system and I think that he has taken the necessary measures for the project to work both in the short term and in the long term.
The value of the entire Ethereum ecosystem lies in the fact that the best developers in the world have gathered here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=428589.msg59562224#msg59562224
More than 100,000 developers work in the entire ecosystem. Even bitcoin doesn't have that many developers. But it will be an interesting event.

Well, I do think that it's up to them whether they are going to support the PoW or not. Seeing ETC still rising, for sure there would still be more people who wants to stay in the current state that they are in. But the matter of fact is if the coin that they will have stays afloat or something. That's just how hard it is moving forward. What could possibly go wrong?  Huh

Don't think so if there will be two separate chains, if you read the full article at polo they clearly mentioned at the end that its still speculation, if everything went well, there will be no seperrate chain for ETHw.

What if there's no fork gonna happen? I'd rather sit my ETH on my wallet rather than risking it on some exchanges. The real winner right here will be Ethereum Classic considering the hash power from the current PoW of Ethereum will likely be put transferred on them.

Pity to those who has mining rigs that mine ETH but I think a solution will surely come out but if I were to decide, change is really inevitable and likely moving on to a new mechanism should be adopted. PoW is the future and more green.

Mining ETH on PoW is profitable due to the high market value of the cryptocurrency and the popularity of the Ethereum ecosystem. If the ETHPOW fork really takes place and can attract users, then new developers will have to develop the ecosystem and create demand for the cryptocurrency from scratch in order to maintain its price and mining income.

This is probably and not certain yet, I hope it doesn't come to extra forks because it will just make the whole thing look even more stupid, I remember the last btc fork that gives birth to bsv and others, it doesn't look good on the long run, some made money and some start believing in the forks more than the actual coin and they end up losing money because forks are just nonsense.

Vitalik is an intelligent person, he has a vision for the future, so he tries to adopt so that the block resolution can be achieved, but the system must be able to ensure that the system runs normally, so that the project can run well now and in the future, this difficulty is what I think need to be considered, because the essence of development is to achieve a level of success. If not, the development will also not provide maximum results than before

I don't think we'll see anything like that happen, we've seen a lot of bitcoin forks but none of them can compete with the real bitcoin until now, if ETH did a fork too, all the cooperation that the developers have been working on for a long time would be a waste, in my view so no updates at all just adding another shitcoin.

As a rule, all subsequent coins that appeared as a result of the fork do not exceed the main coin. But there is one exception, namely ETH, which is itself a fork and which has surpassed ETC in all indicators. But it is currently impossible to make a similar fork that will surpass ETH.

one fork of Ethereum that I think is very good to collect is Ethereum Classic,
to be honest because Ethereum will change from PoW to PoS this will make miners disappointed with Ethereum,
and miners will switch to other PoW coins, and one of them is ETC, you can see how ETC is performing, from $10 to $40 in just over a month,
and this is a sign that PoW coins will trend more than Ethereum itself.

Just prepare for a fork to PoW and PoS. Some exchanges prepare for forks after the Merge including Poloniex exchange.

Poloniex supports & lists Ethereum (ETH) potential hard fork tokens.

The announcement for support is good to keep ETH on their exchanges. If they don't have plan and announce it, users will move their ETH to other exchanges and when it happens, it is hard to see their customers to return.

It is a hook to attract potential new users and keep current users stay on Poloniex.

I received a mail today (07/08/2022) from Poloniex as regards Ethereum forks. Poloniex will support the forks and already listed the tokens. According to the mail: 'Poloniex will give full support to ETH's upgrade and its potential hard fork. To mitigate the risks from market volatility during the hard fork and safeguard users' assets, Poloniex will list two "potential forked" ETH tokens and the associated markets'.

Further: 'ETH holders on Poloniex can go to the swap page to swap their ETH into two "potential forked" tokens, ETHS [IOU] and ETHW [IOU] , at a 1:1 ratio (users are also allowed to swap their ETHS [IOU] and ETHW [IOU] into ETH at the same ratio before the upgrade).'

They also provided the site for swapping Ethereun to the tokens: https://poloniex.com/campaigns/eth-fork

Announcement: https://support.poloniex.com/hc/en-us/articles/7911509585559

I think Ethereum technical team will ensure a safe, hitch-free exercise. I am still studying to understand how all these will play out.

Already many exchanges, including Gate.io and MEXC Global, have said they will support ETH forks. There's probably money to be made on that, but I don't think many will be able to. I think it's bullshit, like Bitcoin Cash was once forked by Bitcoin Satoshi Vision and Bitcoin ABC, which both turned out to be useless in the end. That will be the case here as well. Nobody wants to make the rest of us rich at the expense of this fork.

Honestly i prefer Ethereum keep stay on Proof of Work algo because it is more decentralized.
Many ETH miners will move to mine other coin that have same algo with ETH and will affect the global hash rate.
Ethereum has forked once, and now it will have fork again ? I hope it won't drive the price too much.

That's not good for the second largest crypto like ETH. I know people have invested a lot of money to setup their mining operations and might not want to go ahead with POS, so they will fork out. But with poloniex supporting this fork may bring the matter to an entirely different level.

But to be honest, I am not sure when this movement from POW to POS is going to happen! That's still a big question!

Bitcoin Cash still has a value. And even though it is now trading at $150, a year ago its price exceeded $1500. So, if you have ETH on these exchanges, then you will receive Ethereum PoW as an airdrop. And no one will be able to predict what its price will be by the time of the start of trading.
