If you ask me that question, I would say that your expectation is too high. I think Etherium never can take over btc and I also think Ethereum can be replaced by someone else. Currently, if Ethereum would  take over Bitcoin, it price have to be increase about   13.73x.  I also think for the dominance of bitcoin it also not possible on future.
I would like to say that as gold and silver can never be one and also silver can never take over gold, just like Etherium can never take over bitcoin.  That because they each have specific purposes and features
I do agree that taking over bitcoin is something that ethereum will not do for a long time. I am not saying that it is impossible but that is too much of a goal for it right now. Best thing is to go up together, maybe after 2.0 it could have a good increase that will see them closer.

At some point, it reached to a point where it was just double the marketcap and we believed that it was getting there, with the proof of stake increase, if the gas price stays low when there is a lot of attention then it could actually get enough people to spend their ethereum as well. But that doesn't change the fact that it will be a tough thing to achieve for now.

Since Ethereum will turn into a PoS algorithm, then I would really not be surprised if that Ethereum will experience a decrease in Rank,
and Ethereum will also never replace Bitcoin, even though bitcoin is getting harder to mine,
miners will still be mining until all supply of Bitcoin of which only 21 million have been exhausted.
ETH migrating could increase its value though it's definitely isn't that massive increase, but i disagree that ETH migration will instead make it decrease in rank because so far market capitalization of eth is already huge enough compared with the like of BNB.
I think the migration will change nothing in ETH and I agreed that it definitely isn't enough in term of overtaking BTC at all, ETH needs more than just migration I think it requires more trend like the NFTs and metaverse.

With PoS coming and Gas fee finally getting fixed do you think that Ethereum is capable of overtaking bitcoin? Oh also there will be max supply for Ethereum finally too, or is this expectation of mine way too high.

Your expectation is too high for things that never yet materialized the community will have to see the new Ethereum on POS and fix their unusual high gas fees before we can say that its a threat to Bitcoin's dominance, I shy away from Ethereum for now until the new update and many projects are shifting on other chains, if these projects shifted to Ethereum when the POS comes up then we can start the speculation.

Many altcoins are willing to take over BTC, but in fact, this is not a simple thing. There are many factors why Bitcoin has always become the best cryptocurrency, the one with the highest market cap, the one with high trust acceptance, and also utility.
Ethereum may have much better improvement after the new launching, however it doesnt mean able to defeat or take over Bitcoin position. As good as EThereum can reach the place, this can only be after Bitcoin, stil depend on Bitcoin market. Ethereum is worthy altcoin and good enough for investment, but it doesn;t mean that it is able to take over Bitcoin.

This was discussed for many years. And there was a time in the past before the Segwit fork that ETH came very close to surpassing Bitcoin market cap, however it never actually surpassed. Because Bitcoin agrees to activate the Segwit fork.

Will it surpass sometime in the future? Who knows. It might or might not. Right now there is too much uncertainty especially with the merge fork. And there are always tons of bugs that needs to be worked out.
I remember those days as well, that was the only realistic chance that ethereum had of surpassing bitcoin as there was uncertainty about whether segwit will be activated or not and what this will mean for bitcoin, however since then bitcoin has put more and more distance between them and it does not seems as if ethereum has what it is needed to do so, as even if ethereum has reached new ATHs when it comes to fiat terms it has never surpassed its ATH when it comes to bitcoin.

Yes, I will never forget that time as well, they even have terms for it, Flippening and then Rippening (XRP). So obviously, it didn't happen. And now they are it again just because of the merger?, I don't think so.

It's good to see the price hitting $2,000 again, Ethereum investors are going to be happy with that. But please, no need to hype that there will be another Flippening story because they will not get as close to the price of Bitcoin right now, to be honest.

look at the ETH marketcap which has reached half of the bitcoin marketcap. and that's because the ETH hype is peaking because in a month there will be the merge event or the transition from PoW to PoS. Of course, this hype has various impacts on people's minds. But keep in mind that I guess the highest ETH marketcap at the top of the hype will only reach 75% of the BTC marketcap. and after that it will drop drastically again. because it usually happens. So I'm still holding on to my belief that ETH won't be able to surpass BTC. But I don't know if it's 20 years later. because maybe then there will be more up-to-date digital assets. but the chances are slim. most of the people who are holding ETH right now are waiting to be sold at the height of the hype. and when the hype ends. then people will realize again that BTC is still superior.

You remember the crypto called WBTC, it's a higher price coin than Bitcoin, it doesn't mean WBTC can beat Bitcoin, if you talk about higher prices many coins are priced higher than Bitcoin, the same thing can happen to Ethreum.

Ethereum is also one of the high-value cryptos, if indeed the price of eth can one day exceed Bitcoin, that's a natural thing in the trading market phenomenon.

WBTC is just a scam coin pegged with Bitcoin price, there's nothing special about it. I did check on CMC and I don't find any coin price ever beat Bitcoin price? which coin it is since you said many coins?

Beating Bitcoin in terms of price is very easy, but if you want to beat Bitcoin in terms of Marketcap and use cases, that's an impossible thing IMO. ETH couldn't and wouldn't exceed Bitcoin because the altcoins season on 2017 back, ETH failed to beat Bitcoin.

There are only 21 million bitcoins available in the offer. The technique for creating bitcoins requires that the pace of production decline every four years. Therefore, this will have an effect similar to that of a deflation in an economy, and the price of Bitcoin will rise as the supply of Bitcoin decreases over time. On the other hand, there are no restrictions on how much Ethereum is available. However, between times, the rate of production of new ETH chips kept declining.

Ethereum has its own uniqueness than Bitcoin, and if you compare Ethereum and Bitcoin, it's clearly very different,
Ethereum is a platform and Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, and much more popular!,
I remind you, nothing can replace Bitcoin in the future!

ETH continues to be the second largest crypto asset by market cap, behind Bitcoin (BTC). Ethereum is a decentralized public ledger used to validate and store transactions on a standard blockchain network.

The Ethereum blockchain network has its own crypto asset called Ether (ETH) and an independent programming language called Solidity.

The Ethereum blockchain network has its own crypto asset called Ether (ETH) and an independent programming language called Solidity.

As you said Ethereum even though it has some advantages in technology development but always becomes the second largest crypto.
Because Bitcoin will always dominate and Ethereum will always be behind Bitcoin, it means that it is impossible for Ethereum to replace Bitcoin.
After all Bitcoin is the mother of cryptocurrency, because Bitcoin is the first crypto that was first created. So Bitcoin will always be the first choice of
many investors, therefore not only Ethereum, but several new projects were created to beat Bitcoin, unfortunately none of the new projects
can replace Bitcoin. Even many countries whose governments feel threatened by the presence of Bitcoin, they used all kinds of means to kill Bitcoin
and spread misleading news, but all ended in failure. Because Bitcoin is too powerful to turn off. So investing in Bitcoin should be our priority,
because the price of Bitcoin will tend to rise steadily, then it is very profitable long-term investment in Bitcoin.

I agree with every word you say.
and indeed this discussion is not new. there has been a lot of discussion about this. and is now re-emerging amid the hype that came ahead of ETH's shift from PoW to PoS.
And I also think Bitcoin will still have the top. because the current ETH hype will still dim back in time. because the hype ahead of the event is common. Although the possibility is always there. but still bitcoin will always stay at the top. hype before the event is normal and always weakens or drops after the event is passed.

Eth will not surpass btc at all it is not easy for eth to surpass btc because of some reason, i believe that btc is always rank #1 because it dominate the market and market condition depends on it from so many years till today.

definitely not!, Ethereum is Ethereum and Bitcoin is Bitcoin, as the saying goes first the chicken or the egg?,
we will not be able to distinguish between the two, both Ethereum which has advantages as a platform,
and Bitcoin as the main crypto currency.

To take over bitcoin is certainly very difficult because until now ethereum still dominates the price of bitcoin, and we can see that the value of ethereum is very far from bitcoin then it takes a very long time to approach the current value of bitcoin, although some say that in the crypto world everything can happen but if this problem I will not be sure of being achieved, although ethereum is a coin that we can't doubt, bitcoin will still be king forever.

definitely not!, Ethereum is Ethereum and Bitcoin is Bitcoin, as the saying goes first the chicken or the egg?,
we will not be able to distinguish between the two, both Ethereum which has advantages as a platform,
and Bitcoin as the main crypto currency.
Some forget how BTC and ETH work if they keep talking about ETH taking over BTC. The real thing is both BTC and ETH exist for different purposes and I don't see any chance ETH encircle BTC territory that's long-lasting, safe and secure cryptos to hold. While ETH is more about being used in smart contracts and used in daily transactions for a lot of things.

The question is not new, I remember it was discussed a lot before, and until now it is being discussed again because of the upcoming events of ethereum. After all these years, ethereum has never done that either so there's no reason it can take over bitcoin right now, that's still not possible with ethereum.

Although the gap on CMC, eth is only behind btc, but overall, bitcoin is still the coin that dominates the majority of the market and has a great influence, which I think no other coin can do including eth.

I see people are exaggerating fomo, a lot of people are expecting ETH to make a big leap. The possibility of this happening is possible as it is the most anticipated event of ETH throughout the years. But we should be absolutely careful at the moment, people are rushing to buy ETH and hope to make some profit from ETH but the sharks want to do the same. If we are not careful, we will most likely get dumped on us.
