That is not right because if you do not realize how dangerous gambling is, you will still play and will become addictive someday, especially if you do not stop for a while to reduce your tension because of the result.
That is the myth and you do not have to trust that and just play whenever you want to play gambling so you do not have to feel anything.
Sometimes when people hear about some myths, they will feel afraid if they do not follow them because sometimes it affects our subconscious mind and tells us that we must follow and not try to break them.
Well, I do not know if that is right because it will return to us.

Hey, Myth 11 does happen. It isn't a myth imo BUT I don't actually use it on gambling. I mostly feel like playing rhythm games since even if it requires skill, sometimes a little bit of luck can push you a bit further ahead. Might've done it sometimes with gambling but I still play mostly because, well, I just want to.

How Martingale players think (It does work with a big enough bankroll though). I mean if you were playing to get your money back, might as well NOT play at all no? It's shooting yourself at the foot. And if you play fps games, you know this isn't true

This shouldn't be applicable to games like poker no? Maybe even blackjack (and some other table/card games). Sports gambling as well if it can be included.

Of course, there's fun in gambling and I agree that gambling should be treated more as a source of entertainment than a source of money, but it is actually the prospect of making money that makes gambling attractive. Definitely, majority of us are looking to win money, and there are others who really love to go and take the big risk with their money, all or nothing attitude. And it's part of the fun actually, to see your bet and your money and hope that in every spin of the reel in a slot machine, or the next flip of the card will be in favor of us. And at the end of the day, it's all about the money we spend and how much happy we are, whether we win or lose in the end.

There is something in poker that can screw up your life, literally lol but it is used a lot, in a certain way it is true but the execution or result in individuality can transform it into a myth for some players.

The phrase they tell you when playing well but things go very wrong..." long term...".

 That somewhat capricious phrase but based on statistical mathematics does not lie in the expected result of a good game, but the reason for such a phrase to become a myth for some and rightly so, usually occurs with the so-called Badbeat, you make the right move and with the odds in your favor even up to more than 95% to win and that type of play becomes so frequent that it makes you doubt, so you start to make changes in the way you play, it affects you emotionally, and then you repeat to yourself "...in the long term run I have to start winning".
There are hundreds of stories of good players who have to bad streaks, these vary over time but can last even years and have an eventual return to profits with which in Certain cases such phrases are demystified, but it is not easy to understand them in the harsh reality of what it can mean for a good player who has been a winner for years and enters constant losing phases.


So I think that the approach with certain phrases that work for some and not for others, is based on the simplicity of probability.

In other words, they are not really myths, but the rudeness of enforcing them makes them a myth for some and reality or happiness for others players because it really works for them.

In my honest answer and I just want to be true to myself and you, all gamblers or players who enter a gambling whether it's land-based or online have in mind to win and get the jackpot. And everyone also depends on luck, I don't believe that no gambler does not rely on luck. And those who believe in luck no longer think that they will lose, rather it has no place in their minds. This is the big problem with a gambler.

You know I'm not contradicting what you mentioned mate, because everything you said is happening, there is no gambler or player in a game that doesn't want to win a profit. That's the goal of all of us, even if others say that it's just a hobby for them, that's not true, they still want to win, that's why you're called a gambler.

Is it saving more effective? but yeah I get it, saving is not fun though I totally understand that coz me myself struggles a lot when it comes to saving money lol.

I just want to add something to what you said, I agree that a gambler has spent a lot of money before he gets the jackpot in a game, and usually, it is less than the total by the time he bets. So often even if you get that jackpot, this is what causes you to gamble even more and stay gambling as a gambler.

Many gamblers fall into this trap. I don't know if this a myth or just plain stupidity.
Most gamblers, who say that they gamble for fun actually want to make money out of gambling. I don't know if this a myth or they are just lying to themselves(and everyone else).
Most of the myths in your list aren't widely accepted. Most people actually think that gambling IS addictive.

In fact, winning a lottery jackpot is pure luck. You could win the jackpot if you bought only one ticket, or you could fail to win the jackpot, even if you bought a million lottery tickets.

Those are just beliefs passed through generations by the other gamblers which are part of the daily lives of the people too, it depends on you if you will believe in this but nothing wrong with it. In this kind of era, we don't too much follow this because most of the time if you want to play gambling go ahead if you want to entertain go gambling the person's perspective only how they will spend their money in playing gambling.

There are many myths and superstitions when it comes to gambling in general and some which are specific to some games. For example something that I see all the time is people entering the casino by walking backwards as this supposedly gives them good luck.

However I have never seen more myths and superstition than among the players which like to play craps, a few of them are that if you are having good rolls then you should never change the dice and always ask for the same, never say the number 7, avoid touching the shooter when they are hot, the next roll will be a bad one if the dice get to the floor, but this one is overruled if you are having good luck and in that case the whole table will ask for the same dice.

I'm not sure about the number one Myth given because there is none that i come across here tells gambling isn't addicting instead almost everyone pointed this but of course hard to resist and to deny.

interestingly, all the myths we can discuss. I think this is going to be a very long discussion. however I'd go with the mythical option 6: knowing the game well, increases your chances of winning. 
Fact: Gambling games are designed not to have any aspect that would increase the chances of winning solely on the basis of knowledge or skill. 

I'm a little against this statement, maybe if slot machine games, dice, roulette, etc., fall into the mythical category 6, but there are other games that require knowledge and skills, especially experience.
One of them is poker, I think the game of poker is not as simple as the stated facts point. football, I like soccer gambling, I think it takes knowledge and analysis to increase the chances of winning every bet I want. so I think this 6th myth cannot be categorized for all types of gambling.

I don't know where you've heard that, but I've never heard those myths before. Whoever believes those things, like Gambling Is a Way to Make Money, is very foolish. Gambling can give you extra money at a given moment but you have to be aware that you are going to be a loser in the long run.

There is only one point where I see some truth. For example, in myth 6: Knowing a Game Well Increases Your Odds of Winning, it would be true if we count Poker within gambling. And in the case of casino games, it helps you lose less in the long run.

It happened several times already in the gambling history where someone who knows about the glitch can take advantage/exploit it to make money. Dont you remember the story of Hufflepluff in Primedice who could exploit the glitch and stole more than 2k BTC? So I dont think exploiting glitch is a myth but it is a fact because online casino may have glitch(es) that can be exploited by users if they do not aware about it earlier.

Why only lottery? I think it applies to all type of gambling games. I'm not sure if it is a myth but in my opinion, there are always 2 possible results. The more you play, you have more chance to win but you have more chance to lose as well at the same time.

I don't know where did OP get those myths , but in gambling every gamblers has their own beliefs and myths , they are only joining in one thing and that is "To Win" that is all matters to gamblers and those myths are only for spectators lol.

I think they should add compulsive to this myth because not all gamblers need to seek and recover since most of the gambler is just playing for fun. Only compulsive gambler can do such thing and actually this can be categorized as fact and not a myth anymore because people with gambling addiction is really resorting to criminal activity if they are lack of funds.

I agree with you. A lot depends on the person himself, his understanding of values and upbringing. There is a huge number of gamblers who have never deliberately violated the laws and will not do so even if they have debts. So it is better to say that gambling addiction can encourage people with a low moral regulator of behavior to break the law in order to find money to gamble.

Gambling is a game of luck so there is no such thing as "purely" or "guaranteed" return on it but there are types of gambling that will give you more chance of profit if you knew it well.

Like in sportsbetting, you don't bet randomly on some teams if you have proper knowledge about the matchup.

While in poker games,  if you're unlucky with your cards you can still turn the table if you're good at bluffing your opponents.

Another way to put the myth is if you play every day you will eventually recover all the money you have lot from the previous days. Or maybe something in the line of double the money you may have lost. I also want to add that another myth may be that if you have good intentions of what to do with the money, you will eventually win with. Such good intentions may include giving a percentage to the poor or   using your winnings to payoff some debts.

Yes, I agree with you. 

Gambling addiction can be cured.  However, this is not easy.  This is due to the fact that addiction in a person does not arise just like that.  Something very important is missing in his life. 

For example, a person may lack drive and passion.  Therefore, it is easiest to replace one dependency with another dependency.  For example, you can do a street pickup (seducing beautiful girls).  You can engage in extreme sports (observing safety precautions).  You can also start playing computer games. 

The second dependence will be already weaker than the first and will not bring much harm to a person.

Like you said, it is because of those myth people starts or can't stop gambling. They first start gambling thinking that it is a one time thing and won't get addicted. But somehow they win some bets and becomes addicted to gambling. The adrenaline rush they get is what makes them come back to gambling. And then after few wins, they think that they can actually start making some quick money and get rich over night. They still keep on believing that they aren't addicted because "they can't get addicted to gambling".

in a gambling place it can indeed provide additional money but it can't always be like that because in a gambling place all possibilities can happen and there is no guarantee to always get a win, because sometimes you can get a loss until the money you have runs out or goes bankrupt, so it's better to stay careful Be careful when you want to gamble and don't be too influenced or have to be able to control yourself.

I have to admit, these facts are real and I happened to experienced one of them a few days ago but I'm not playing with money rather I was just upgrading my item in my MMORPG game which has some 50/50 chance of success and failure. Fact number 11 got me because I was convinced that I'm gonna extend my power that day because I feel like it was my day but the result was contrary because it fails misserably and my character power decrease dramatically.
