Well, it seems to me that after all, the main profit of the casino does not come from the participation of avid gamblers, because according to statistics they are less than 1% of the population, and the decisive contribution to the profit of the casino is made by people who are willing to part with some amount of money on a one-time basis and for entertainment in a given situation.

Knowing the game well doesn't increase the odds of winning.  Blackjack and poker may be categorized as a skill-based game but the initial cards in hand is affected by chance.  Playing against an AI even debunks that idea since blackjack in casinos always has a fresh card shuffle every round.  Probably if the blackjack game is PVP then we can consider that the myth is possibly true.  Knowing the game mechanics such as knowing our opponents' strategy can make us create a strategy that can counter his, thus, we increase the odds of winnings.

I'll add that many (newbies, kids) think that Martingale or similar strategies are a safe win. Of course, until they face a long enough losing streak... Does it count?

there are many out there, gamblers who are falling apart from running out of capital because they are stuck with the martingale strategy, it should be noted that this strategy is only for those with unlimited capital.

Depends on the game but 1 thing I was always told when playing no limit texas hold em was " play bad you lose". 100% a true statement in my opinion.

Can you make money regularly gambling? I wouldn't suggest trying. Just have fun and gamble amounts that you can afford to lose.

because I read this and this topic, I am very curious about what actually influences many people to play gambling and an interesting fact is that people start gambling because of the words (myths) that are often said by their friends or family...

I agree with the research above because it was my first time playing gambling because of an invitation from my friend who said "gambling is a way to make money". now the days have passed and until now I still gamble but with controlled portions.

What happened to the myth you mentioned. Superstition in what sense. I may never have heard of superstition in gambling. Some people do have a unique pattern in gambling whether it's prayer or everything, but in general they draw a prayer or mantra conclusion where they have won big in gambling at that time or day and he will remember that time to be used as a benchmark for playing gambling on the next day.

some even experienced the same thing where he once won a big multiplier when he played one of the slots in the middle of the night and he concluded that playing gambling in the middle of the night could give a big win. Basically it's just luck. can we believe this can be lucky in our gambling.

I think they should add compulsive to this myth because not all gamblers need to seek and recover since most of the gambler is just playing for fun. Only compulsive gambler can do such thing and actually this can be categorized as fact and not a myth anymore because people with gambling addiction is really resorting to criminal activity if they are lack of funds.

Why would anyone steal for gambling losses? That s the only criminal behaviour I know a gambler may do if things don't end well. There is nothing big enough to compel any gambler to engage in that kind of act unless one is threatened with death because some people go to the length of taking loans from loan sharks and we all know how dangerous they are when you refuse to pay back the money they lend you, even with death threats, there are security forces that can handle them.
Gambling is not a do or die stuff if it is not working, I see no reason why will anyone go to the point to get money to wager on gambling, that is the dumbest thing anyone will want to do even if they are addicted to it.

This Myth 3 is simply the reason I nearly dropped out of school that year before I eventually come to realized the fact that the longer I keep playing to win, the more I will keep on counting my losses. I could remember a friend who used to geared me up with this myth and I foolishly believed. But come to think of it, what's the motive behind these myths? I mean why can't we be truthful to ourselves on the realities  of gambling? Is it necessary to deceive ourselves with the myths? Smh

This myth is totally opposite of the reality or at least it is for me. The more you play, the more you will lose in gambling. This is what i have experienced.

If you want to be successful in gambling, then STOP playing as soon as you start to lose and again STOP playing as soon as you won in gambling. Not playing more may give you more wins.

Or shall we say that we shouldnt really wish nor hope about being successful on gambling in the first place because this would really give out that kind of hope and desperation to play more which isnt good imho.

Most gamblers are the same way on the number 3 and the reason there are too many desperate gamblers who turn into gambling addiction is that they keep chasing their loss and they can't control their ego and urge to gamble. Though we know these all existed until now at least we know or we are already oriented here when it regards gambling addictions so these myths exist only for those new to gambling.
All we have to do is self-discipline.

Back then the second and sixth myth sentence is what encouraged me start gambling, I had that initial expectation of making money but like the fact says it always goes in the way of the casino. The sixth myth got to me when I was playing card games like baccarat and blackjack after getting to know the basics of these games I thought it'd be easier to win but like any other casino game, luck (bad cards and streaks) is still a big factor that can quickly burn your profit.

Indeed , we cannot always expect what is in our mind and what do we desire to be the outcome , in gambling the more you gamble is the more chance to win but also the more that chance to lose also.

Yes there are counteractions , because myths are just an opinion of someone , but now a totality of reality.

Myths exist in every field of life and not just gambling. Also, Gambling Myths are not something that is introduced to keep people away from gambling. It's just the general perception of the people and mostly those people who believe in these myths are not active gamblers. Those who gamble regularly will not pay much attention to these myths.

Two of these myths are what I disagree with, but that doesn't mean I agree with many of the other myths.
I gamble not because I am in trouble because of finances, it is absolutely because of the pleasure and curiosity of how I can achieve victory. Of course addiction is inevitable when the mindset of having fun turns into a desire to get back lost money, and this has been covered in many topics on responsible gambling.

Then secondly, I don't gamble every day and this I do whenever I want as long as I want. It's not about money, but it's because of curiosity that my defeat won't be so bothersome. I don't steal for gambling and I don't cheat for gambling, and I hope this never happens to me who was never really addicted to gambling.

I think people who still believe in myths in gambling places are just people who are used to myths and often use them for whatever things are happening to them because in gambling places so far what I know is that everything can be set and provided with additional source code. then the myth can never happen, everything has been programmed to win or lose depending on luck and not a myth.

It's basically how the human mind works. We are always looking for patterns, explanations, etc. Even if there's nothing there, just random. Our mind gives us a possible explanation: "I lost because of that black cat that crossed in front of me last night". It doesn't make sense, but that doesn't matter. Our minds will just take any explanation when there's nothing there.

That's how myths are created. People just sort of believe in those things and keep repeating them. Of course it's nonsense though, but that doesn't stop our minds to keep telling that to ourselves.

I think it only applies to Problem Gambler who has sold everything they have and has this uncontrollable urge to gamble that makes them commit criminal activity.  Since gambler who has no mental disorder can always think of a possible way to find a job or earn money.  Aside from that, I believe personal moral level always plays a huge part in this myth.

I don't agree with this mythical statement, it's too tendentious to say all gamblers are involved in criminal behavior. If you refer to this statement of fact, it may be justified in some cases for gamblers with a confused personality. even though I say this myth is completely unjustified, it tends to corner and judge all gambling lovers.
