Hi Everyone,

People in the other thread said that I should post this here. Original thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5409162.0

My name is Richard and I am founder of 4K.com (We turning physical items - collectibles - into NFTs/tokens)

I am here to ask the community and get feedback on what to do with this Casacius Coin when it comes back to Earth?

Packaged and ready to go! https://imgur.com/91UjX36

2012 Brass Unpeeled 1 Bitcoin - Authenticated by Elias Ahonen (https://www.cryptonumist.com/encyclopedia/)

This particular coin has a lot of history as well. Originally owned by the founder of Defcon.
More info here: https://vault.4k.com/collectible/ethereum/0xEBf19415d94be89A1d692F82af391685dC1Bff79/68
----

I have the opportunity to send a personal item on top of a Falcon9 rocket into Space and have it retrieved. So I thought it would be awesome to launch a Physical Bitcoin up there!

"First Bitcoin in Space"

We will receive a certificate from SpaceX stating that this has been into space and back. We are most likely going to NFT it.

My current idea is to donate it (along with NFT) to a museum like the Smithsonian Institute. Is there somewhere else where it could be better displayed for people to visit/view? Hopefully there will be a Bitcoin museum one day Smiley

Open to feedback and other ideas  Grin

Definitely very cool, how on earth did you happen to get this opportunity? You must have some really great connections. And to donate it, very generous.

I have an idea. You should contact the ANA (American Numismatic Association) the largest money museum in the world and see if they ever plan on doing an exhibit on digital collectibles. If they don't now they will one day, mark my words! Here is the website and instructions if you want to send that to them: https://www.money.org/moneymuseum/donationpolicy Good luck with this! Very cool story, looking forward to seeing the NFT as well!

Cheers,

This was a special case because I have a friend that is a senior executive at SpaceX. They are doing this for select employees and he offered up his spot to me for free  Grin

This is only the second time that they are doing this.

Oh this is cool. Will check out!

"free"? Sounds to me like you'll owe him a beer or two afterwards at the least Tongue

Awesome project though, wonder if Musk would say anything about it if he hears of it  Grin

This is a really cool idea, you are one lucky person.

What is the public key of the coin being sent?
Edit: I found the address: 1CcTMxBfBD6m36FMk5vNuKvG9wLvDpknRc

If you could send another item I would suggest one of the "To The Moon" Kialara pieces, specifically the one with a small bit of moon rock in it.
Think about it, if you sent that and got it back it would probably also be the 1st bit of moon rock that has been sent into space and returned back to earth again   Tongue

Great project; space, unpeeled cas, athentification by Eliante, what not to like??
Try to get get some kind of media attention to the project, I feel it deserve more than just a thread on a bitcointalk sub section.

Cheers and good luck

That is a pretty unbelievable opportunity. I wonder what other things are being sent up there and retrieved. Seems a little risky but Elon has a pretty good track record of retrieving those rockets. I imagine your friend has to be a pretty important person to be able to do this. The price of doing something like that I imagine would be quite a bit more than any of us would expect.

As far as I know, Sportsbet is also planning to send bitcoin into space at the end of the year, so hurry up.

We are putting 1 BITCOIN into Space!!

"Yolo Group has partnered up with Estonian Student Satellite Foundation (ESTCube), who will help us send one Bitcoin to space! 🚀🛰️ ESTCube2 is a project ran by an Estonian satellite organisation made up of space enthusiasts and students. Their mission is to launch their new innovative satellite to space in Q4 2022.

Depending on the Cas, Ive been paying between 1.1BTC and 1.5BTC for each. I would go out on a limb and buy the space Cas for 1.69BTC and personally present it to Elon.
