Bitcoin Longterm Price Target

Since the beginning of bitcoin it is basically in a very volatile uptrend. It is not likely that it stays like this forever (50+ years). What are your thoughts on what could be a price target for bitcoin longterm?

I made this calculation for an adoption of 50 % of the current world population:

21.000.000 Bitcoins : 4 Billion People= 0.00525 Bitcoin per person on average. The average value of the wealth per person globally is: 79.952 USD.

If you now would calculate the bitcoin price so that 0.00525 Bitcoins are worth 79.952 USD then you would end up with a bitcoin price of : 15.228.952 USD per Bitcoin.

This calculation is of course very inaccurate and makes a lot of assumptions. Still it can show where in some specific scenario the bitcoin price can end up, since for now I feel the price has just random targets and is dictated by exchanges and whales.

It's extremely hard to make price estimations knowing that there are a lot of different theses(day-to-day currency/blackmarket currency/SoV/a combination of a few/etc) and different factors(theses/demographics/etc) to take into account.

My take is just that it should be priced a lot higher in the future when the market sort of prices bitcoin a bit more accurately, compared to it's current state where it's pretty much just a scam/ponzi for most people.

Bitcoin is not dictated by exchanges or whales, exchanges would only list bitcoin for trading purpose, the overall buyers and sellers are the ones that determine what bitcoin price would be.

Truely no one knows if bitcoin can still be existing in the next 50 years, but I doubt if it would not. Only what I guess is that the price would one day hit a million dollars. You have not even mentioned fiat devaluation as a result of inflation, that would also contribute to bitcoin price appreciation in long term.

Almost all bitcoin would have been mined by 2050, but some more would have been lost, the calculation may not be accurate, but definitely that bitcoin price would further be appreciating.

I'll say that sky is the limit if it's about the truest potential and price of bitcoin in the future. Take all of those halvings for example and when we say long term, it'll depend on how long you're looking at it.

With halving, as the reward for the mined blocks will become lesser for the miners. That will result to the lesser supply and higher difficulty for it to mine a block and as well as higher price.

Well, I don't have a price in my mind but I'm very much optimistic and waiting for it to come. Many might laugh at us for now if we tell them about 6 to 7 digits but who knows, right?

There's no actual number and as others said "sky is the limit" because fiat is continuously eroded by inflation. So in 10s of years in the future Bitcoin may worth *a lot* because of its scarcity (and demand!) and also because fiat is losing value continuously.

The only missing part of the "equation" is the demand. If, for some reason, the demand would go down, the price will also go down. If the demand remains the same, the price will grow. If the demand rises (and that's what I expect) the price will skyrocket.

The future is what we can not be sure of on how it will be for bitcoin on longtime. The adoption rate will surely affect your calculations and that was not taken into account. One of the link missing also is the numbers of bitcoin that will be lost from the newly mined in addition to the already lost bitcoins which is missing link. For the times so far that bitcoin has not dropped down to $10k and beyond according to predictions and speculators, we are going to see bitcoin appreciate into 6 digits.

Of course it's clearly stated that this calculations comes with a lot of assumptions and with that, the element of demand and supply is not considered in all this and that plays a vital role in the functionality of bitcoin as well as other scares commodities.

This may be true, but then we should have a lot lower prices right now, because the adoption is so low at the moment. I used that high of a wealth to compensate for investment funds, countries, etc. that will also buy in. Still Im open for other numbers.

That's definitely true. Which still leaves with 1.5 million per bitcoin if we are looking at averages. Do not get me started on the companies as well, because this is per person, if we are talking about prices based on companies, that's going to change it a lot as well. All in all, what I believe bitcoin is all about equals to no top price ever.

Because, there is inflation as well. If the average person could have 80k per year salary today, it will be 100k in a decade or so, which means that we can't talk about how bitcoin is all great and what not, while also not realizing that inflation will make sure that bitcoin will be ever growing and will never stop.

There’s still no assurance for this but the way Bitcoin works today, I can say that its really meant to stay and probably everyone will have their own Bitcoin by that time. I am thinking that more volume or market cap on Bitcoin even if the price is not that so high, will help the price of Bitcoin less volatile compared to what we experience for the past few years, and even now, volatile is still huge for me compared to other assets that already got high trading volume, it's just a sign we are still early.

I would venture to guess that an unequal distribution of bitcoin in fact could make its price to go up even higher as this is something similar to what we see with other assets.

However as you say calculating the future price of bitcoin is never easy especially since we do not know how high will be the inflation in the future, if things really get out of hand we could see prices for bitcoin that we never thought possible, but at that point how high is the price will not be anywhere near as important as what and how much you can buy with bitcoin at that point in time.

I'm not sure if S2F could  still be a good  measuring tool, the model has failed already and although it has been adjusted time and time again depending on the market, I wouldn't put too much on it as of now.

Again, as others have pointed out, there could be a lot of parameters that we need to include. So this could just be rough estimate, factors like demand will be very big in the future if governments are going to print more money.

The opportunity for bitcoin is still used a few years later because bitcoin is now growing rapidly from several years before.
The acceptance of several countries as a means of payment provides more opportunities for bitcoin to be used globally.
But indeed, it will depend on the conditions of each country because there are still those who reject bitcoin as a means of payment.
After all, it is not following what the government wants.

I honestly see that as a normal thing, maybe it's just me? I am not saying that it will happen tomorrow or something but I believe that 1 million dollars per bitcoin is not something that is outrageous, it looks like something that could happen very easily. That's my personal opinion and it may not happen that easily and it might create a trouble.

But, the best thing to do right now would be making sure that we are doing fine with the current price and not focus on that million dollars. I buy bitcoin all the time and keep on holding it and I will hold it until I retire, which means that I trust the price and where it will reach, which is over a million dollars and that's expected for me, just not now, it will be way down the line.

We will never know how big the bitcoin will be and the cost is unlikely if bitcoin is high then the fee is greater but it is worth the high price but indeed that is speculation we can only guess now and expect something better to happen.

He did admit that his calculations are inaccurate but I don't think there is a person that can calculate all these stuffs correctly. We don't know what is running on each person's mind. They may or they may not involve their selves in bitcoin. Satoshi is the founder of btc but I don't think he predicted btc to go this far (its price) because he thought that he only made a currency that people will use daily and not an asset that many people will get attracted to, in which they will buy and hodl their coins till the price booms.

20k isn't the highest price that btc reached but it was almost 70k. If it reached that high starting from scratch then it's also possible that it can go for more like over a hundred k.

Not really an accurate way to calculate the price. This price is achievable when everyone and each one of us come on the bitcoin network which in the first place is highly unlikely and unachievable, secondly, average value of wealth is a growing matric it grows each year and even comes down sometimes, moreover, it's an estimate created by keeping global Purchasing power parity at par, which means the average value of wealth in the US is more than 80$ for sure, but a person having $80 in Thailand might be way better off than someone having even $500 in the US. When everyone will come in one currency this estimate will change altogether. So technically this is way off from the correct value.

It's hard to predict the price of many coins for long-term, not just BTC! But I think we can be sure in some coins, and the more time we give them the higher they will grow! Long-term is not next year or the year after, it's 5-10 years minimum! And just look what Bitcoin did in the first 10 years, does anyone think that this crypto growth will stop!?

I was here when people didn't believe in $1k! Ethereum was considered a scam by many people when it was under a dollar... and where are they now? I guess we have many similar examples in crypto, and only logical conclusion is that the crypto space will continue to grow!

I disagree. Valuing bitcoin isn't as hard as people make it out to be. Just because Wallstreet shills claim there is no way to value btc doesn't make it true. Remember, their very existence is threatened by bitcoin.

Here is a start:
Add the market cap of gold to some of bitcoin's utilities.
Current gold market cap is approximately 10 trillion.
Bitcoin can and will disintermediate credit card companies. Estimated market cap of all credit card issuers: 2 trillion.
Bitcoin can also disintermediate all other payment rails such as Apple pay and Venmo and many banking fees related to currency exchange and moving money around the globe. Easily another 3+ trillion.
The conservative value of bitcoin at the current purchasing power of the dollar is easily 20 trillion.
20 trillion / 20 million btc = 1 Million per bitcoin. This will be the floor by 2030.

Ok, let's point it this way, maybe he is referring to the next bull run? somewhat along 2024-2025 because that's we're the baseline of speculations is, for the price to hit 6 digits or at least $100,000. This is predicted in 2021 and it didn't happen, so we make our own assumptions just like the OP and see the price as somewhat intersecting on that direction as well. I guess the bull run will always be the same, prices go up, massive spike and every time we hit a new all time high and this could happen again and 6 digit should be now the starting point.

Yep, based on the price history, it is always growing from one BTC halving to another BTC halving. But it is untrue that BTC price is always rising each year.
