Any advantage of going Ethash algorithm? Will Asic miners be dealt with?
This official version
Wu Blockchain:
Conflux initiated the CIP-102 proposal: change the PoW mining algorithm to Ethash, the motivation is to make it easier for Ethereum miners to switch to Conflux after the merger, but the specific details are still pending
https://twitter.com/WuBlockchain/status/1557665083349557248?
Most miners mine ethereum and it will be easier for them to mine another coin on the same algorithm. I think it's logical. But there is no information about Asics yet.

Easier? It's just software. Why discard your own POW algo for one abandoned by its biggest user?
It seems pretty cynical and desperate.

Good free advertising. I have never mined this coin, but maybe after the completion of ethereum mining I will try.

Most of the miners used only the Ethash algorithm, and this will attract more newcomers to the mining of this coin

Make sense. Alot of rigs are ready tuned to mine Ethereum. Some will mine on the old chain (Ethereum POW) or ETC, the rest of the hash will be spread across the other coins.

Crappy stratum implementation full of security holes. There are better choices.

They shouldn't have, the normal conflux Algo is good enough I don't understand why they plan to swap to Ethash algo, this is not good and I think the team need to be aware of it, its a bad.

In my opinion it is a winning move by conflux it will be an excellent alternative when eth can no longer be mined personally  i would say a 4gb dag so miners can also use cards not of the latest generation and an increase of 1 gb every 3 years

I believe this is a good idea if the following criterias are met:

1. a static DAG size of 3GB like Flux to support those who only use cheaper older cards

2. A variation of the ETHash algorithm that ASICs can not mine.

Supporting small-scale miners is the path of decentralization, ASICs is the opposite.

This release introduces a new hardfork. All nodes should be upgraded before the epoch number reaches 56800000 (estimated on Oct 18). Most CIPs will be enabled when the block number reaches 133800000 (estimated on Oct 25), and CIP-99 will be enabled when the PoS block number reaches 330000 (estimated on Oct 25).

If this has happened then most likely the price should go up even more than that. However so far in the last 24 hours only 6-7% increase is being shown in the Coinmarketcap website and a couple of other websites that deal with listing coins prices and news.

Whenever it comes to something being allowed or permitted in China though I have always my doubts as they are led by the Communist Party of the People and whenever such entity is the leader of a country usually things do not bode well for that country so I would refrain for the moment by investing in Conflux or mining it or even exchanging some of my crypto for it.

I don't know about that but even when they switch as I said it is not going to give them the success they imagine and this simply because no good things have ever come out from China, they were the responsible for making Bitcoin crash from the all time high in May 2021 as they did an entire crypto ban in whole of their country, this never stopped Bitcoin and crypto though and we are still going strong. So even if they change to Ethereum it won't bring them any good or any projected rise in price, this coin came out with all the hype in the beginning and so far it has only remained as hype, and as long as is related to China in some way or another most likely it will not have the success we all imagined when this coin first came out.
