I also think that the drop in the ethereum hash rate was due to the fact that 5 GB asics switched to mining ethereum classic, because their memory does not allow mining ethereum.
We can delay the Ethereum mining end date a little, but what will it give us? Algorithmic miners will direct the hashrate of video cards to mining more profitable coins. I will lose profit, and nicehash miners will earn it

Well the delay simply means a crash and burn case which many of us believe in will be delayed.

If I clear 250 usd in all eth every day till Sept 13 then crash and burn down to 100 usd a day


if I clear 235 usd eth+etc mix every day till Sept 18 then crash and burn down to 100 usd a day


I make more money in the second case.


Will any of these moves really help no one is truly sure what the effect of killing 25 million  daily in eth mining income and turning it into 3-4 million daily eth interest income (that can not be cashed for at least 5 months) is going to do.

But I know that if we hit the bomb and are 600th eth + 400th etc

vs 900th eth + 40th etc

the shock wave is more intense.

My power deal is so good I would make some money in any case. but I spilt it 4 ways.

so 250/4 = 62.50 usd a day all profit at the moment for me.


My interest is  keep that 250/4

vs a drop to 100/4 or worse 60/4 daily.

Anything I can do mitagate the shock wave helps.

Yeah people do switching tech = terrible as it flattens all coin value. Worse tech ever invented.

UNLESS you are a true POW believer as switching is the best technique for power to wealth because it levels coin value.

You have interesting calculations, but it is not known how other miners will behave.But always before the end, a lot of activity begins  And I'm too lazy to switch mining, I'll wait for the end of mining and then look for new algorithms.

Yes you earn half now because most people are mining ETH. What do you think will happen when merge happens and all those GPUs are sitting idle?

They will start to mine ETC also. And you will make much much less than half. Probably what the above poster said is right. The profits will be awful unless miners quit and bring the difficulty down.

What is the difference between the difficulty bomb in the latest version and the version prior. The prior version also has a difficulty bomb so even if pools don't upgrade the network will come to a halt unless they upgrade their software.

I think that most pools will switch, its just too early at the moment. Will be interesting to see what the %'s will be next week however.

I want you to picture this 122 million plus eth coins
15 million staked
107 million not staked
72 million were pre-sold or  pre-issued

So if just I million of the not staked are converted to etc on exchanges  with swap function eth will dump a bit and etc will pump
This could turn out to be a huge rally for etc and a huge dump for eth.

The combined market cap for the companies listed above that all want mining to continue ut over 2x that of the value of eth coins.

but the real kicker is that it is over 200x that of etc. I smell blood in the water.. I wonder if pos eth-fiends have realized what they are headed toward.

ETC is whaling but it is not able to pass the 45 USD mark so far.I am not worried but the profit daily is going down and the difficulty is at an all time high of 660 TH from near 300 it was before ETH announced the merge.I hope ETC whales like it should in the near 200 USD or even more range as that would be fantastic for everyone of us who believe in this coin and are mining it from quite some time now.

I will continue to move my eth miners to etc . I am hoping to have fully switched by the 12th of sept.  I will have a decent stack of etc maybe 30 coins very soon.

2 decent pushes one to 100+ next to 250+ and eth will have suffered from the moron move they did.

Unless of course mr v.b and his fellow developers blink and stall the merge.

I think if ETC continues to surge before the merge eth will begin to fear the move they did. So get you gear over to etc.  you can do what I did move 10% a day for 10 days.
