Yes, I also saw that Bivol is the favorite against Ramirez and it's because of his huge upset win against Canelo. And I do agree that this is the biggest test for Ramirez, but he says that it is not? What gives? Is that overconfident on his part?

Not sure if I will tempted to bet on Ramirez, I have doubts that he can win against Bivol to be honest. Yes he has the physical advantage like height and reach, but I think Bivol is more superior and has the tools to beat Ramirez in a 12 round fight.

This fight is even more exciting than the canceled Spence - Crawford match, both are champions Zurdo is a former super middleweight champion and Bivol is the current light heavyweight champion, I'm surprised to read one article that Zurdo
Doesn't View Bivol As The Best Opponent He's Ever Faced he's underestimating Bivol considered that he is the heavy underdog here, let's see if he can do better than what his fellow country man Canelo Alvarez did.

I guess the hype of Spence vs Crawford is over.

Nevertheless we have a lot of fight in the calendar up to the end of the year. As I have said, Ramirez might be downplaying Bivol in this fight, but I do believed that we will see a better version of Bivol here, a upgraded of him since we last see against Canelo.

Yes, I also read the news that Bivol is not that interested on Canelo's rematch, and so he is more focused to defend his belt against Ramirez here.

Odds for this match:

Bivol, Dmitriy @ 1.21
Ramirez Sanchez, Gilberto @ 4.30

https://stake.com/sports/boxing/international/international-matchups/42951047-bivol-dmitriy-ramirez-sanchez-gilberto

Bivol is still the heavy favorite and what a huge gap difference against Zurdo Ramirez.

Betting options are still limited to Moneyline with less than 2 weeks left before the match.

Not bad for some bettors who would like to risk some few bucks to bet on Ramirez because his odds are really juicy but I guess it's not that easy considering that he is up against Dmitry Bivol who defeated Canelo Alvarez. As for me, I'll wait for the other options regarding this fight and I think I might splurge a little on Ramirez's odds. Few more days to go before we will witness this fight.

In my opinion, Gilberto Ramirez has a great chance of winning this fight.

Ramirez has a huge boxing experience.  He hasn't lost a single fight.  He has a very strong motivation to win the title from the Russian boxer.

Mexican boxers are known for their will to win (at one time I was very impressed by Jack London's story "The Mexican").

Ramirez is not an amateur, he is a professional and has always been a professional.

Now he has a great desire to win.  I think that now he is training hard and is completely focused on preparing for the upcoming boxing match.

Dmitry Bivol shuts down Canelo Alvarez rematch talk as he prepares to face Gilberto Ramirez

That is the right thing to do. Dmitry Bivol needs to focus on Zurdo alone because he cannot underestimate a former champion who is also undefeated and very hungry to win his second-division belt. And Zurdo also wants his big money shot against Canelo Alvarez. Winning the WBA belt is big here as the other 3 belts are already held by Artur Beterbiev so a single unification fight can already reap an undisputed championship, unlike Beterbiev who collected his 3 belts in 2 unification fights.

I may take a bet here but probably on Bivol. I wanna see them weigh-in first and see if Bivol is in a good condition.

Better to focus one at a time, they're a pressure on Bivol's side since he's the defending champ and for sure Ramirez is on the mission trying to beat him and get the belt, the former champ may seriously take this challenge as it is a good token to collect another title, we don't know though if how prepare Bivol as we know he is also good in doing his counter each time the challenger will try to dominate him.

More on protecting while throwing good converted punches to his opponent. Best of luck to all the bettors!

Seeing the poll in this thread really surprised me that there's a lot here who believes that Bivol will win by a way of knockout or TKO rather than by decision and totally Bivol garnered 20 votes, 8 for that is by a decision over Ramirez's total of 10 votes. This is going to be interesting to see 10 days from now, two heavy names in the LHW contesting to fight the 3-belt holder Artur Betierbeiev if he can win his title defense fight too.

I guess the hype of Spence vs Crawford is over.

At least they have announced that early as to not make the fans expect for nothing with this matchup.

Downplaying Bivol would be a very big mistake for Team Ramirez because Bivol is one tough nut to crack and not only that, he is a very disciplined fighter as what we have seen in the Canelo fight. This guy always follows the game plan and never deviates from it so I expect this fight to end with the "W" on Team Bivol.

Poll users may be right or wrong, but we all know that once inside the ring, the results may be totally different.
So this is interesting to watch also. Both are good boxers but of course, a lot are rooting for Bivol.
Bookies are also favoring Bivol on this match. I don't think upset will happen but anything is possible anyway.
As long as they will give a full pack action inside the ring, then, the audience will have their time and money spent on this match as worthy.

Right, maybe fans here wanted to see a Bivol vs Beterviev match in the future, unification fight in LHW. And although Ramirez is a good fighter, Bivol has the complete set of tools amongst the LHW, very quick, volume puncher and good defense and IQ too. And that's why he is a fan favorite here in our community, and his personality as well, he is not that brandish and has a sense of rumor. Remember after beating Canelo to look at Eddie Hearn and says "sorry for defeating Canelo", hehehe.

Indeed! as long as both fighters will show a full pack actions then watching and betting for this fight is worthy, poll may be showing in favor of Bivol but the actual result will depends from how both fighters will show their skills and the IQ in winning the fight, upset maybe from Ramirez or Bivol will continue his way chasing for Beterbiev to collect more belts from this division and continue to hype his name high.

Result will conclude if the Poll and bookies are right, or another upset to most who are expecting for this kind of outcome.

People really like Dmitry Bivol's personality. He is humble and honest, and unlike many boxing stars, Bivol is a no bs guy and straight to the point.

I don't know if Gilberto Ramirez is yet to taste the canvas but I really believe that Bivol is capable of hurting him. Bivol is not a KO artist but he was a KO artist before he fell in love with utilizing his boxing skills which is safer than just trading bombs with his opponents. In this fight, I see Bivol as the faster and more intelligent guy than Zurdo. Although we cannot just count out Zurdo too, Bivol was already hurt before and who knows the Mexican can also do that.

Bivol's adjustment really gave him the luxury of staying as the champ, he didn't need to go toe-to-toe
but instead, he used his strategy to stay up and make good punches to earn scores.

We witness that from the fight against Canelo, he just exchanges punches and go to his safe zone so even Canelo tries to engage Bivol just keep answering and keep making points while avoiding the aggression of Canelo.

Not sure what Zurdo's strategy here but he needs to adjust with how Bivol will command the tempo of this fight, better to turn things to his favor.

I guess that his strategy in the beginning, try to be relax and not be overcome by the big event (fighting Canelo).

So he uses his long reach and even if Canelo tries to break him, he counter him with flurries of punches that Canelo hasn't take for so long.

And that could be the same strategy that he will be using against Ramirez. Although his is the smaller one here, but Bivol has a bigger IQ and can adjust mid fight to see which strategy is going to work to beat a very game Ramirez by scorecard or by knocking him out in the canvass.

Odds for this match:

Both of them has an experience, it's just that Ramirez got more bouts than Bivol but in terms of professionality, Bivol is not that really behind Ramirez and certainly view them as even because they're both hungry to have their own legacy and be the undisputed champion in the light-heavyweight division if one can defeat Beterbiev or Yarde. Another thing, I don't recall that someone here labeled Ramirez as an amateur in this thread, but one thing is for sure, this will be an epic fight.

All of your statement about Gilberto Ramirez is also in Dmitry Bivol's characteristics.

Huge a experience, a clean record, and of course strong motivation. You also mentioned professional and both of them are.

And maybe you are not aware that Dmitry Bivol already beat the strongest Mexican boxer and world champion, Canelo Alvarez, before this fight. Therefore that "Mexican will" you are referring to is not just the key to winning this fight.

8 more days before this big fight at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates happens.

So according to Oscar De La Hoya, the promoter of Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez believes that his protege will stop Dmitry Bivol and then proceed into a mega all-Mexican fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. De La Hoya believes that Bivol countered Canelo very well because the Mexican superstar only threw single punches at a time. De La Hoya mentioned that Zurdo will be throwing combinations that will deter Bivol's plan to counter. And lastly, he also believes that Zurdo is too big and strong and he can knock out Canelo.

We'll see how De La Hoya's assessment in this fight fares. It is true though that Zurdo being an underdog can add extra fire and determination to train harder.

Who wouldn't want that, right? It's like people the people's eyes are already fixed to see Bivol and Beterbiev fighting for the undisputed title, they still have their own respective title defense, yet the people still wanted to see these two dancing together in the same ring. Even me, it got me excited just by thinking of it, unimaginable full-packed fight is going to happen if these two will defeat their own challenger.
But before that, I'm curious about this Ramirez because he got a nice record and history but I'm not that familiar on how he fights. I'm interested to see what he can give to Bivol.

Wow! Quite some big words from the Golden Boy himself, well, I'd say that we will likely see it very soon if his protege can stop Bivol at the height of his prime. Not underestimating Ramirez but he should at least show some effective moves first because barking won't do the trick, going into Bivol's mind is not effective. But for this Mega all-Mexican fight? I highly doubt it'll happen, Canelo doesn't have a thing with Ramirez because he is not the one who defeated Canelo in the first place and he also said that he is not interested in fighting his own people because it's nonsense as they are both representing the same country, Mexico.

On the one hand, I agree that these are Canelo's problems, since he needs a revenge to restore his reputation. But we must also not forget that if Bivol loses weight, then this will not give Canelo any advantage - on the contrary, Bivol will gain an advantage. Most athletes use methods to cut weight to the desired numbers through various procedures, as a result of which weight is lost due to dehydration and fat burning. Muscles remain in place. Thus, when fighting in a lower weight class, Bivol will be just as strong and perhaps even a little faster. Therefore, I think that Canelo will try to gain weight himself in order to fight in the Bivol weight category.

Each body is different, everyone has different metabolism, but in most cases, muscles burn faster and first, than fat. That is why sitting on a diet wont make fat women fit Cheesy

We do not know what is really written in that rematch clause, but Bivol only needs that if he only needs money. He has already beaten Canelo. It is Canelos obligatory to fight in 175, because Bivol did not aim to fight in super middleweight in first place. And I think that Bivol is not really interested in having that rematch. Instead, it will be more interesting for him to face Beterbiev or to go to cruiserweight, then make a step back and fight in 168.

In professional sports, things work differently (although even in the case of women, I'm not sure that your judgment is correct). Professional athletes lose weight not really, but formally - they lose weight before weighing in order to regain a significant part of it in the remaining day before the fight. That is why any diuretics are prohibited along with other types of doping.

That is called weight classes in boxing, so that no boxers are into an advantage or disadvantage as they are going to fight in a weight. So they really have to lose weight prior to the fight itself, and then the the boxing organizations, weigh in in accordance. But then again they can rehydrate to as big as 10 lbs or more after that weigh in. However, there are certain clauses inserted in contract that a boxer can only rehydrate this big as not to have any advantage to his opponents. And I agree that diuretics is prohibited because they want the boxers to lose that extra lbs legally by diet.

Regarding your reasoning about the interests of Bivol and Canelo, I agree, and it seems to me that Canelo will not seek revenge - he has already been humiliated once, there is no reason to believe that this will not happen again.

He is too proud to lose the fight against Bivol. And we didn't expect that Bivol can do that against the best version of Bivol. But I guess Canelo's mistake is facing a prime light heavyweight, unlike before when he faces Kovalev, who is ageing champion at 175. But Canelo admit that he had difficulty in that fight.

As I said before, for me Bivol has everything in his hands, I think he could even have Canelo in his hands, but he wants to have him there as if he were his last resort in case of... this has a lot to do with what he wants el Reuso, for me el Ruso is gaining more fame, more recognition and the truth is that I think he is achieving it, he has a lot of concentration in it, and that determination is what I admire most about him, of course his boxing technique is very rudimentary, but the truth has worked very well for him and I think he will continue like this and improve it, I think he wants more titles, fewer rematches and advance to the maximum, and later if he will come with his rematches and therefore it translates into more money.

Odds for this match:

Bivol, Dmitriy @ 1.21
Ramirez Sanchez, Gilberto @ 4.30

I can not deny that it is a great opinion bro, I also think so, for me Bivol is a boxer who is not looking for something minimal, for me he is looking for the big, obviously everything is related to money, between better and The more advanced the boxer is and the more famous he is, the more fame he will be able to grab, and I think this is clear to him, therefore, for me, that is the reason why he does not accept a rematch against Canelo at the moment, perhaps he does not. He looks so interesting, in fact he is going for more titles, but he wants to get more triumphs that guarantee him the best fights and he wants to be the most famous, that translates into more money.

Canelo does not give up and is looking forward to this result:

Canelo Alvarez waiting on Bivol vs. Ramirez outcome on Nov.5th before he decides next fight

Quote
By Sean Jones: Canelo Alvarez is waiting on the outcome of the November 5th fight between WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and Gilbero’ Zurdo’ Ramirez before he decides who he’ll fight next May.

Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) lost to Bivol last May in Las Vegas, but after the Mexican star initially said he wanted an immediate rematch to try and get revenge for the loss, he later changed his mind, deciding to fight Gennadiy Golovkin.

That's how the statement should be since Zurdo Ramirez is under the Golden Boy Promotions. Therefore, expect that all positive statement will always favor their boxer. If Dela Hoya's pre-match analysis will happen or not, only we can find it out on the day of the match.

As much as I favor Bivol to win this match, it's not that I consider Ramirez a heavy underdog even bookies are telling us how far the distance between them is.

There's a slight adjustment though on Ramirez's odds from 4.30 to 3.90 as of this post.

I thought De La Hoya won't risk Zurdo against the likes of Bivol. I know De La Hoya is grooming fighters to break Finito Lopez's 51-0. I was thinking Zurdo will wait until a mandatory status with 3-belt champion Artur Beterbiev is called. Beterbiev is very dangerous but he is turning 38 and sooner than later he will lose to someone if he won't retire. GBP and Zurdo are confident after accepting this fight.

Although I am rooting for a Bivol victory I also do not agree with the huge underdog status of Zurdo. Now it is 3.80 for Zurdo.

De La Hoya's statement might bring more interest to this fight, but yeah, that underdog status might push Zurdo to his best fit coming to this fight. He will train harder to attain all the skills and preparation that he needed to this fight.

We will only see that once we are already witnessing the fight, but again, it will add up since Zurdo will try to accomplish what Canelo missed.

Another good factor aside from being the underdog, but will bring a good hype and status on his boxing career.
