People over reacting about merge while they didn't know if that will not give any change to the price of ethereum. Changing the consensus meant it will make miners get less domination. The rumour about mtgox is still being talked anywhere. I didn't even expect any pump to happen soon. We are facing a huge dump very soon. The pattern of bitcoin has been showing it.

That is really hard to predict in my opinion. I think though that we have seen the first impact of this news already. That was when the price of Ethereum went up pretty quickly to almost 2000$ like two weeks ago or so when the news become public that the merge was successful on the testnet and that it will go live earlier than expected. Since then the prices keep on dropping tough and ETH was below 1500$ a few minutes ago. So i would say the first big effect of this news is already gone again. I think that if the merge is successful the price will go up a bit but not that much. If it fails though then i think the prices will drop significantly.

The mergle will only greatly affect gpu miners since they will have to shift their hashing power to another coin and BTC is still the one to dictate the general crypro market. Also the merge will likely cause some exchanges and other businesses to halt deposits/withdrawals under the Ethereum blockchain since it would be risky to do transactions while the merge is on-going.

I don't think there will be any effect, considering that the market is still in a bear market, so the increase we want may not yet happen. But if ethereum can raise its price and release the pressure from the bitcoin price drop, it will be a good start for ethereum after the ethereum merger. But it's still hard for ethereum to be able to raise the price. So you have to be more patient because as long as the price of bitcoin has not increased high, the price of ethereum has not been able to increase either.

oh well, several of people says there will be no effect on ETH price before the merge, since there's not too much hype circulating however I think the price will be so much volatile. People think that merge will reduce gas price, but unfortunately Vitalik confirmed that it won't effect it. So just like most of people, I think this merge won't have that much effect, too. And unfortunately, the price of ethereum has fallen again along with the movement of bitcoin which has declined again. I haven't been able to convince myself that after the merger is complete, I will be able to raise the price to a higher level than it is now and even reaches $2k again because the situation in the market is not good. Maybe ethereum will get another pump once the bitcoin price starts its small rally before getting more pumps. So for those still holding ethereum, don't panic and keep holding your ethereum and try to buy more ethereum in addition to buying bitcoins.

We can definitely say that for the whole crypto market this will not have any global effect, because the market does not follow the price of ETH, the market follows the price of bitcoin. Even if the merger will have a positive effect, it will hardly affect the price of ETH for the better, because the whole industry is in a bearish phase right now and the process of switching from one algorithm to another will not change this situation, the market will not suddenly become bullish. So in the short and medium term it is unlikely there will be any major changes in the price of ETH.
