If you know legit social initiatives asking for donations in bitcoin, could you share, please? It can be to help precarious local communities to have access to improved infrastructure, education, technology or to help people with disabilities, rare syndromes and also including initiatives from members of this forum, in case there is any.

Everything aiming efforts to improve the lives of people in difficult situations, struggling to survive and to work with dignity worth to be mentioned here.

But only reliable programs which can have its legitimacy and efficiency verified.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Here are the most well known ones I am aware of:

https://hrf.org/donate-bitcoin
https://www.unicef.org.nz/donate-in-crypto
https://www.savethechildren.org/us/ways-to-help/ways-to-give/ways-to-help

You'll also find an enormous list to choose from here: https://thegivingblock.com/donate/. You an search for individual charities and nonprofits to donate to directly, or you can pick an "index fund" in a sector of your choice and your donation will be used across multiple nonprofits in that sector.

Blockchair also have a charity scheme here: https://blockchair.com/donut

There's a user in this forum is asking donation for Pakistani as you can read further in this thread [Donations] Fundraising for the Floods disaster in Pakistan | Raised ~1000 USD, you can donate if you're want to do it and I think the @OP is a trustworthy user which it's a legit donation.

I think the first main belief before investing is faith, as long as you're fine and believe your money will belong to the people who really need it, there's nothing should be worried. If in the future the project turn to be scam, I wouldn't mind and hope someday they will get a karma.

The Hodlonaut trial may also worth mentioning. It doesn't help local communities, it helps bitcoin itself. The website www.defendingbtc.com gives details and also donations page is linked.
If you have missed the context, the topic We are all Hodlonaut is a good entry point.

You could also find some on these lists:

https://directory.btcpayserver.org/filter/non-profits
https://en.bitcoinwiki.org/wiki/Donation-accepting_organizations_and_projects

I'm not sure where you live but better obfuscate your tracks if you're planning to support a movement your govt may not be so fond of.

Just recently, there was a thread here sharing how a Bitcoin-centered humanitarian organization provided clean water for a village in Nigeria.

The organization is Built with Bitcoin Foundation. They are building communities. So the goal is more or less wholistic. They not only provide access to potable water, they also build schools, engage in sustainable farming, improve healthcare, and so on.

They're operating in 5 African countries.

Since some member here have serious privacy concern, i'll mention Tor Project[1]. They accept Bitcoin though BTCPay and simply showing their address[2]. They also show their legal report and audit publicly[3].

But only reliable programs which can have its legitimacy and efficiency verified.

By efficiency? Do you mean percentage of the money used for the program itself (e.g. helping people or develop new technology)?

Take note the last modification was on 21 November 2020, so further research might be needed.

Thanks for all suggestions. i'm looking each of them and would like to help most as possible, unfortunatelly my budget is limited, so for now I'm going to pick one or two, but I'm going to come back on this thread later to help another projects as well once I can donate more.

With efficiency I mean practical results we can see for real.

@ETFbitcoin, sorry, I would like to send 1 merit point to everyone who posted their suggestions here, but I had only 5 merits to send, now I'm lacking 1 to send you, but as soon as I get it I'm going to merit your post as well.

You cannot help everyone. You can become a philanthropist for any specific person or project that you could observe the life and development of. Helping a sick child, for example. If you write that you don’t have a lot of money, then it’s better to send more to one, to whom it will really help, than to send a lot of kopecks to the majority, realizing that you can’t change anything in their trouble. In Christianity, there is a concept that alms should be generous.
This is of course my opinion, but of course, you can send to thousands of companies by creating a list of those you have helped.

One of my faves is The Water Project. Idunno, it just seems so bizarre and so sad that even access to drinking water(something most of us here take for granted) is a huge problem to some people.
