It can happen, but finding such projects is very difficult. If you want high profit then you also have to take the risk which means you can lose that $100 too. The most recent case to be able to do that can be mentioned Shiba meme, the people who invested in shiba last year were the ones who made huge profits, if I remember correctly, Shiba has a growth rate of thousands %. That's just an example, I'm not saying you should invest in Shiba.

Finding such projects is difficult and sometimes takes a bit of luck and no one can tell you what coin it is so don't believe anyone if they say they know what it is.

Just think of $BNB, it was less than a dollar few years ago and look at its price now. No one would've thought it will reach its current price now and I don't know if there is someone able to hold and sold when it hit 3-digit price. Making it possible would feel like hitting the jackpot on the lottery.

That is definitely possible. To turn 100$ into 7000$ means a x70 of your initial investment. That is quite a huge number of course but still it is possible. In order to achieve returns like that you have to take a pretty huge risk though in my opinion because you won't get a x70 of your investment on altcoin projects that are already big and established like Ethereum, Solana, Cosmos and so on. You have to pick a new and upcoming project for that. This also means of course that the risk of of a loss of your investment even all of your investment is very much possible. If you had bought 526.319 cake that day (3/11/2020) which would have cost you $100 and sold it on April 30th 2021 when the price of 1 cake spike to $43.96, you would have made $23,136.98.

ICO's have been replaced by a better version such as ieo and ido but along with this is the profitability of the investors did also decreased. How is that possible? I think that is because most ico projects are just a pump and dump but nowadays it's easy to choose a legit project and usually legit projects can take a long time to bloom. As you noticed, it does happens sometimes, but you have to be lucky to acquire the right token on the right moment to make profit through the speculative hype or pump and dump scheme. The hardest part in doing this is the fact there is a very short time spam between the beginning and the end of the hype. In your case it was 2 days, but it could have been even less, like few hours. Investors trying to take advantage of such tokens do this as gambling, therefore they invest only few pennies without compromising a large portion of their funds. If they lose it's fine to waste few bucks, and if they win it can be really rewarding to grow their pennies x10 or more.

Though it was possible as you have said but this is only happening to hyped projects as you no longer found it to potential coins. I made good profit in cake token. later cake token touch 40$ almost but i sold earlier when it was 6$. funding quality project with high potential to increase token price is not easy task. sometimes you will hold many tokens with thinking that it will rise in future but your fund will be just stucked there. It is indeed possible to earn significant profit and I personally earned a somewhat similar amount of profit by investing in altcoins just before the 2021 altcoin season. But it is not always the case and timing is also very important to maximize your profit.

The lesson you should have learned is to not stay too long on a project especially if that project don't have plans to make a massive product inovation in the future. I've been on the same boat as you on making big bucks on the early stages of the project and eventually dying out after months of prosperity. Luckily I sold all my tokens before the price crashes and never recover from that crash. This is a life long lesson that I learned from that experience that I will be surely implementing on the next bull market where majority of the tokens will have a massive pumps and will slowly die after experiencing a bear market.
