Being an Indian, I am quite skeptical about the chances of India. The biggest problem facing India right now is overpopulation. Population growth has slowed down in most of the states. But 2-3 states which contribute the most to the population (Bihar, UP.etc) still have very high growth rates. This results in very heavy migration from these states to other states and as a result there is a lot of ethnic tension. And the second major issue is brain drain.
