Yes, that they are! On the other hand, the new M2 Mac Mini is actually quite a compelling purchase.
Why do I need him? I can buy this laptop for myself, but it is not cryptocurrency mining. I had an old macbook, but I installed Windows on it For mining, this investment will never pay off. And in a couple of years this model will become obsolete, and video cards are constantly making a profit. Yeah, for mining no, I was just talking about in general for "regular computing." The new M2 Pro and M2 Max models cost about $3,000 in the US or Europe, and in Russia these laptops are 30-50% more expensive. This is an expensive item that will attract unnecessary attention from thieves, so I see no reason to buy such a laptop. And for the office, this is an expensive purchase. Was talking about the M2 Mini base model Show me this model, if it costs less, then maybe I'll try another operating system. I'm not familiar with Apple laptops, so please provide a link to that laptop. But I don't like to spend a lot of money on laptops on which I do office tasks. It's not a laptop, it's a desktop PC - https://www.apple.com/mac-mini/Thanks for the link. I think that this is a useless thing that is impossible to mine coins and play, due to poor cooling and the impossibility of self-repair. For 600 dollars I will assemble an excellent computer from components. My computer will be bigger, but I have no problems with the installation space.

According to some discussions I found on Reddit and other social media, most miners agree that Mac is not the best hardware if you are looking for profit. Most of them consider mining on Mac just for fun and supporting the network, since their latest processor, while powerful for many tasks is not good enough for mining. I personally own a Macbook Air. It is a good device for office work, light gaming, content creation, etc, but I'd never consider mining on it. I don't think it changes with Mac Mini since most of the time they perform at the same range. The key differences are extra cooling and no battery. Is this type of cooling still popular? I thought most companies and buyers prefer open-air fans or liquid cooling systems nowadays. AFAIK, blower-type cooling can be very loud, hence why it is not the most popular choice. I'm not sure about the performance but from skim-reading several articles there doesn't seem to be a big difference unless we compare it to liquid cooling. I guess the price is the key factor when a miner wants to buy GPUs since most of the time they are not that bothered by loud noise. CMIIW.

I have 3 in the house. They allow me to run core wallets safely. They are more secure than windows in general. less secure that linux. But you can run linux on them. They are really easy to clone boot drives. T5 T7 Macintosh Hd backup Corsair boot are all clones and various booting backups. So self repair is a none issue since you can move the boot drives. they are not for mining. They tend to last for 6-9 years.

I thought that a safe use case for cryptocurrencies is a hardware wallet. I do not like Mac laptops, because in Russia the price for them has always been 50-100% more expensive than the market price. This was before the sanctions and now. And their repairs are very expensive. Mge likes their quick system recovery with a few keystrokes, but I also have no problem installing Windows from a flash drive. License keys for Windows Pro on aliexpress cost 3 dollars.

That 180$ markup for 8 GB of RAM extra, ugh. OK, yeah, it's not "regular" RAM, but still. P.S. I'm not hating, I have an MBP M1 Pro Max

Did someone know what is the motherboard requirement for the GPU to work? I mean I tried it on older H61 and H81 Pro Btc motherboards but it didn't work. On AMD B450 it is working perfectly.
Have you tried mining with RTX 4090 graphics card on H61 and H81 Pro Btc motherboard? If you connect this video card to the 16x port, then there should be no problems. I have no data on how this video card works through the raisers. But the payback period of this video card now is - never. It is on the x16 slot but it is not recognized by the motherboard, I don't know why. When you did get it working on the AMD B450 motherboard, what was your take on the temperature and noise of the fan. I’ve read on these forums that people are having problems with them overheating a great deal but I haven’t seen enough people comment their experiences to know if these cards are something that should be avoided due to heat issues.
The temperatures are okay, you can check on my videos mining different algos: RTX 4090 Hashrates Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=561nJJrl2Xk&list=PL0X8pLdX8UE6dOZrgrUk9bV3YOAKk9HKI&index=1Nice video. I gave you some merits Thank you! There is a BIOS update for my RTX 4090, the release note is: "Resolve no display issue before the driver loading with some mobo when booting the system." It still cannot work on older Intel Pro BTC motherboards after the update, but I tried it on AMD AM3 motherboard and it is working. But there is one bigger problem - the GPU cannot run on an x1 to x16 PCI-E Extender on my B450 motherboard, any suggestions why is that? I have an update on this issue, if someone has the same problems, you must use x16 to x16 riser: RTX 4090 - Working on x16 Extender - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Exu3WXeFWI

The best news about RTX 4070 graphics cards The Inno3D RTX 4070 non-Ti graphics card will indeed have an 8-pin power connector. This is a confirmation of a 1-day-old rumor that some RTX 4070 cards may appear without the new 16-pin (12VHPWR connector). The packaging that was pictured and shared on Chinese social platform clearly mentions the standard 8-pin connector for this card. Given what we know about the RTX 4070 SKU, this would be the cheaper variant, most likely to be sold near the MSRP (NVIDIA suggested retail price), which is not known yet. It is also one of the first RTX 4070 cards that we know to feature a dual fan cooling solution. https://videocardz.com/newz/inno3d-geforce-rtx-4070-graphics-card-to-feature-one-8-pin-power-connector

In the last generation, the 3060ti and 3070 were excellent gpus that gave no problems for me, practically 24/7 mining, 60mhs, without instability and small adjustments for it to reach the maximum hashrate. Maybe the 4070 will be the sweet spot. I don't have any 4xxx generation cards yet, but I'm keeping an eye out for any changes in mining. I am ready to buy some gpus, if the price are good and I see that the profitability can come back to an acceptable level with the price of my electricity. Anyone here with plans to already buy the 4070? If I remember well, the msrp will be $749?

Reminds me of the rx480 with 8pin..but i'm guessing the nvidia 5xxx is a good jump in performance if not it will be like the rx580 where miners just stick to rx480 because there no significant improvement. Back then ETH's memory intensive algo was the trend so HBM took the high end part of mining. Here is my take. An ROI'd card is always better than the best card for mining, if you can profit now then take it.

An ROI'd card is always better than the best card for mining, if you can profit now then take it. It depends on the hash rate of the 4070 but it should be the same as 3080 about 85 Mhsh default and if it is indeed an 8 pin meaning a maximum 200 watt power consumption which can be further fine tuned then it is a game changer for people who will be building new mining rigs to mine different coins,I was watching in Youtube different known and unknown miners using 3-4 rigs and mining with one ETC,with one ETHW and with one dual mining ERGO+ZIL or ETC+ZIL or ETHW+ZIL and that can be a good strategy for people building a mining rig with just 3 of such cards at near 300 Mhsh with fine tuned cards, or over 250 Mhsh by default config. The price is a bit expensive but I am sure it will come down pretty quickly so if we wait 1-2 months after this comes out then the price may be will be at 599 dollars or something similar.

In the middle of April we will see the new RTX 4070. But there are still issues with power connectors. The RTX 4070 non-Ti SKU is to feature AD104-250 or 251 GPU with 5888 CUDA Cores. These cards are to operate within 200 to 225W TDP and feature the same memory confirm as the RTX 4070 Ti SKU. It appears that the RTX 4060 Ti could indeed launch soon as board partners receive first marketing materials. According to the template, the name of the card ‘RTX 4060 Ti’ is more or less confirmed at this point, but the product description does not confirm any of the important specs. This means that 8GB memory capacity or PCIe Gen4 x8 still need to be corroborated by other sources. As far as rumors are concerned, NVIDIA is set to launch its RTX 4060 GPU in May. It is alleged that company would introduce both the Ti and non-Ti models, but it is unclear if they are to be released at the same time.

According to a leaked benchmark, the RTX 4070 GPU has been tested on a Core i9-13900K system with an ASRock Z790 Taichi Carrara motherboard. Given how niche this motherboard is, we might assume that this is a reviewer preparing data for April 12th. The card is confirmed to feature 12GB and 10.5 GHz (21 Gbps) memory. This is the same configuration as the RTX 4070 Ti. Furthermore, the leak confirms 46 Streaming Multiprocessor count, which translates into 5888 CUDA cores. This is quite literally the last part of the RTX 4070 specs that still had to be confirmed. Now it seems we know everything. https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-leak-confirms-5888-cuda-cores-12gb-21gbps-memory
