Could be the title 'yield', which is linked to DeFi and altcoin investment, but even that is not a reason enough to classify the thread as an altcoin discussion.
It seems a perfect fit for Beginners & Help board

Yeah, it's more useful to have this topic in "Beginners and Help" as a general advice topic.
Since it's perfectly applicable to the overall market (not just related to Altcoins), moving it to "Altcoins" would mean, the useful, general advice could be lost in the Altcoin section.
It's not a discussion about Altcoins...
Like Upgrade00 suggested, I agree that it's suited for "Beginners and Help".  Smiley

Maybe the beginner and help tend toward new member's use of the forum. Most of the topics mentioned by the OP in my own opinion look like topics for altcoins discussion although some similar topics will be found in the beginner right now. However, no thread address topic differentiate topics in both section, I hope a moderator can come on the thread to help out.

If we are talking about investment offers in crypto, does this automatically mean altcoins? The topic generally describes an example with suspicious investments using bitcoin.

I think using the keyword "crypto" sounds abit off the boundary for bitcoin since it is believed that cryptocurrency is the general name where every form of shitty coins fall under, that's why anytime we are dealing with crypto coins then it will give more light by been specific on which, here if the talk is strictly about bitcoin then no need using the word crypto because that alone can render it all being the same as any other altcoin, also if we consider the forum at large, it was designed for bitcoin while any other discussion that does not specific with the use of bitcoin but crypto  will all fall under altcoins discussion, just my view.

To my knowledge, it is not possible to "yield farm" on bitcoin "proper". I understand it is only possible to "yield farm" using various altcoins, such as ETH (I presume there are others). I also understand that any yield farming involving "bitcoin" is actually a "wrapped" bitcoin that is very similar to an IOU.

As a result of the above, discussions related to "yield farming" are not talking about anything that you can do with bitcoin and should be in the altcoin section.

Although, there is an argument that certain altcoin subjects belong in the newbie section, although opening up this can of worms similar to what I discussed here.

Do not create a reply without actually reading the OP of the topic, more often than not it could make your reply a spam one, or wholly off-topic, OP's isn't talking about the many topics he mentioned, he only used them as an example as to why his thread shouldn't be moved to the altcoin section, have another look at the op mate

Having said that, @Ratimov i think your topic is perfect in the B&H section, and i can't see one reason why it should be moved, and why the altcoin discussion section? If it is to be moved anywhere, i think it should be moved to the Bitcoin discussion section.

Not the first time I've seen a topic unnecessarily moved to the Altcoin section. Kudos to all the mods for all the good work, but sometimes they seem to be quite hasty even when seeing topics that mildly touches up altcoins.

It's mostly concerning altcoins, but let's not forget that we also have "yield farming" through centralized custodians such as Celsius and BlockFi.

It may not be only the mods with whom you have a complaint against here. The mods wouldn't be looking at the topic too hard had someone not reported it. It's quite possible the reporter is someone with a high good report rate so the mod that moved the topic didn't question their judgement. Mods might be overloaded with reports and look to make their day easier by having faith in reporters. Just speculating but could be true.

Currently it's in the Beginners & Help board, and I think there is no reason for it not to be there. The mention of "yield" in the title and a link to a yield farming video at the bottom might be reasons why it's being moved. Btw, how many times has it moved back and forth?

Not that long ago, nutildah got a temporary ban for moving his thread back in the original location where the mods didn't want it. He has left the forum since and hasn't returned yet. You might want to be careful if you insist moving it back too many times. Contact the mods over PM and try to figure out who is moving it and why, and explain the reasons why you think the decision is wrong.

Such topics can be placed on different boards, so although in this case, B&H can serve the purpose of warning beginners about how easily they can be scammed through social networks, it would not be wrong if that topic is also on the Scam board. We can only find out why mods think that Altcoins is the appropriate board for this topic if one of them answers that question.

I agree, and even though "yield" is mentioned, that shouldn't automatically target it to be moved to the altcoin section.

Great thread, by the way.  It's from last year, but I've never seen it and it looks like a fantastic guide for anyone who's new to crypto and isn't aware of how scammy the entire space can be.  Definitely belongs in B&H for good and for all, eh mods?

You are mistaken, it is not about the thread that the OP quoted, but about the one behind the hyperlink, which dates from September 6, 2022 - what you are referring to is something completely different, and the OP just wanted to make a comparison that has obviously confused some people like you.

Why is the moderator constantly moving this topic: "If you don't understand where the yield is coming from, you are the yield." to Altcoin Discussion?
Pushing it to the Altcoin Discussion section will automatically make a mess of it because of the expected spam that will ensure there and the warning for which it was made will be lost. I think posts like that which seek to warn the community of possible deception and scam, especially newbies should either be placed in the Beginners & Help or Services sections; not altcoins. Those two sections are arguably the most visited parts of the forum by newbies.

Oh, I guess I wasn't invited to the Welcome Back party and I hadn't noticed. Looking at his most recent posts, he has been somewhat involved in discussing altcoins and posting in the Wall Observer thread, so I am not surprised I haven't ran into him. At least that's what I thought.

Seems there was some confusion again with one of his NFTs threads being moved to the Altcoins board. Funny thing is I merited that OP of his but still failed to realize who started it. Roll Eyes
