Okay. So today I was checking my email spam folder and got this email from scammers.

Quote
Greetings!
I have to share bad news with you. Approximately a few months ago, I gained access to your devices, which you use for internet browsing. After that, I have started tracking your internet activities.
Here is the sequence of events:
Some time ago, I purchased access to email accounts from hackers (nowadays, it is quite simple to buy it online). I have easily managed to log in to your email account ***.
One week later, I have already installed the Cobalt Strike "Beacon" on the Operating Systems of all the devices you use to access your email. It was not hard at all (since you were following the links from your inbox emails). All ingenious is simple. Smiley.
This software provides me with access to all your devices controllers (e.g., your microphone, video camera, and keyboard).
I have downloaded all your information, data, photos, videos, documents, files, web browsing history to my servers. I have access to all your messengers, social networks, emails, chat history, and contacts list.
My virus continuously refreshes the signatures (it is driver-based) and hence remains invisible for antivirus software. Likewise, I guess by now you understand why I have stayed undetected until this letter.
While gathering information about you, i have discovered that you are a big fan of adult websites. You love visiting porn websites and watching exciting videos while enduring an enormous amount of pleasure. Well, i have managed to record a number of your dirty scenes and montaged a few videos, which show how you masturbate and reach orgasms.
If you have doubts, I can make a few clicks of my mouse, and all your videos will be shared with your friends, colleagues, and relatives. Considering the specificity of the videos you like to watch (you perfectly know what I mean), it will cause a real catastrophe for you.
I also have no issue at all with making them available for public access (leaked and exposed all data).
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): Under the rules of the law, you face a heavy fine or arrest.

I guess you don't want that to happen.
Let's settle it this way:
You transfer 1.8 Bitcoin to me and once the transfer is received, I will delete all this dirty stuff right away. After that, we will forget about each other. I also promise to deactivate and delete all the harmful software from your devices. Trust me. I keep my word.
That is a fair deal, and the price is relatively low, considering that I have been checking out your profile and traffic for some time by now. If you don't know how to purchase and transfer Bitcoin - you can use any modern search engine.

You need to send that amount here Bitcoin wallet:
bc1quedrl599a5un37l507azmynwm24p2ngwaxl4qz
(The price is not negotiable).
You have 5 days in order to make the payment from the moment you opened this email.
Do not try to find and destroy my virus! (All your data is already uploaded to a remote server).
Do not try to contact me. Various security services will not help you; formatting a disk or destroying a device will not help either, since your data is already on a remote server.
This is an APT Hacking Group. Don't be mad at me, everyone has their own work.
I will monitor your every move until I get paid.
If you keep your end of the agreement, you won't hear from me ever again.

Everything will be done fairly!
One more thing. Don't get caught in similar kinds of situations anymore in the future!
My advice: keep changing all your passwords frequently.

Now, You may say "That could be a real hacker". Well, No. Because I know what I am doing and what I have on my all devices. First of all, They mentioned I love visiting Porn websites and do masturbate  Grin and they recorded videos and collected some personal data from my devices. LOL. I know what I do man. I do not watch porn and don't masturbate. I do not have any serious personal documents such as Personal nude photos or whatever they mean. All I have is some saved password in my browser which they could access to my exchange money. but sadly they don't even know I am a Bitcoiner. They assume I don't know what Bitcoin is;

Quote
If you don't know how to purchase and transfer Bitcoin - you can use any modern search engine.

Well, I am not here to prove that they are not a real hacker. They are 100% fake hackers and trying to scam by scaring people. Porn is the most common thing that people watch and they use this to trick people. I saw the same email posted by a victim on a Facebook group and asked everyone what he can do. So, Thought I should share it here.

Which mail service provider are you using? Almost all emails like this straight away go to my spam box which is provided by Gmail. Google uses AI to determine such emails but you need to also educate its AI by following a few steps. I am sure you might know all these but if not then start selecting such emails and putting them in your spam box. This email was send to you by a scammer.

yez i have read of this before back in 2016. this is not new anymore and there are threads about this in this forum itself. if somebody falls for this he got to be someone who really jack himself in front of a camera.

the hacker is not very smart to really personalize the email. but it would somehow scare the hell if he says good day Crypt0S0ul, i know where you live, your name is .. and your address is ...

It's clear from the email they sent you that they are liars and full of sh*t. They usually send this kind of emails to hundred of thousands of people hoping some of them will be stupid enough to buy it.

Even if they were real hackers and have access to your devices, you should not feel intimidated and don't send them any money. Instead, report them to the relevant authorities.

It is a pretty common scam tactic. Some of my clients have received similar emails. Some of the emails were even created as if they came from the FBI or local law enforcement to try to intimidate you. It is all bullshit. Sometimes the scams are sophisticated and sometimes they are just stupid. If hackers really had full access to your devices, they would already use it in the worst possible way. They would probably be posting naked selfies of you all over the Internet already, or selling your passwords to the highest bidder on The Dark Web.  Cheesy
The bottom line is that if someone has access to your sensitive information, you have to assume that they will use it. But, you should not panic. Just change your passwords and keep looking over your shoulder for the next few months.

So yeah. Never get intimidated by threats like this. I doubt it will work on a lot of people, but still, it is probably more effective than the old Nigerian prince scam.

It's an old ransom scam that has been around for some time, perhaps as old as the Nigerian prince scam. Maybe it was your first time receiving such spam mails. But so long as one does not panic, nothing will happen.

The good news is that the address is still empty.

Yeah, it's an old scam but it's good that you posted it online. There are still reluctant people that google searches and they might find this. I used to drop mine at r/scams, they have this scam email dump thread lol, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/n00kg3/the_blackmail_email_scam_part_7/###.

Okay. So today I was checking my email spam folder and got this email from scammers.
Oh I got similar emails before in one of my old email addresses, and I was very ''scared'' especially when I knew that there isn't any camera installed on my computer 24/7  Cheesy
Sad thing is some people are probably so brain dead that they actually send bitcoin to this scammers, because address I received already had several transactions.
One thing to remember, and this can help you for all areas of your life: All scams are based on fear, greed or ignorance.

It's an old ransom scam that has been around for some time, perhaps as old as the Nigerian prince scam.
This was Nigerian prince v2.0 Bitcoin.  Cheesy

TBH, if I'm the one who received that email, I will just ignore it.
I mean who the hell is interested in reading a very long post coming out of nowhere. I'm not interested in reading that huge email.

Anyway, I think it's a common way of scamming people. The fact that you will send them 1.8 Bitcoin is already a sign that it's a scam. No legit company will ask your money to be sent to them (I mean there might be some, but you got the point Smiley).

My old email (the one I used here in my Bitcointalk account before it was hacked) was receiving many emails coming from random people every day and I'm just ignoring. I don't want to stress myself because I know that they are just trying to scam me. Poor scammers.

Okay. So today I was checking my email spam folder and got this email from scammers.

Quote
Greetings!
...
I have downloaded all your information, data, photos, videos, documents, files, web browsing history to my servers. I have access to all your messengers, social networks, emails, chat history, and contacts list.
My virus continuously refreshes the signatures (it is driver-based) and hence remains invisible for antivirus software. Likewise, I guess by now you understand why I have stayed undetected until this letter.
...

That's never going to work in Linux Grin because the virus has a 95% or larger chance of failing when it attempts to load itself due to the highly volatile nature of Linux kernel modules and the libraries responsible for input (ahem... X Window System).

That's never going to work in Linux Grin because the virus has a 95% or larger chance of failing when it attempts to load itself due to the highly volatile nature of Linux kernel modules and the libraries responsible for input (ahem... X Window System).

Thanks, I didn't know that. Interesting. I never check my mail. And there are a lot of people like me who have email but do not use it. I wonder what the scammers are counting on? How would they warn people who don't read emails? Grin They want to get a good amount of bitcoins, I would even agree to give them my phone if they gave me that much.
I have Linux, and I just won't pay attention to such idiots. I'm surprised that there are people who fall for this bait.
Just pass by.

Okay. So today I was checking my email spam folder and got this email from scammers.
Your email is probably part of a few data breaches already [you can check it on "haveibeenpwned"], so perhaps you should consider ditching it for a new one.
- While you're at it, try to use the throwaway/disposal emails for trivial stuff!

The good news is that the address is still empty.
Unfortunately, the same can't be said for all of the listed addresses in the following similar reports: 1, 2 and 3

It's quite common actually. Someone claims to have naked photos of you and demand some ransom.

Well, This was the first time someone claims they have my personal documents. LOL.
I was targeted by another scam who said she is a military person in a war. Got a treasure and she wants to send me. LOL.

It's an old ransom scam that has been around for some time, perhaps as old as the Nigerian prince scam. Maybe it was your first time receiving such spam mails. But so long as one does not panic, nothing will happen.

Ah, I am not sure what is the name of this scam. I heard about the ransomware viruses.

Your email is probably part of a few data breaches already

Right, I am already aware of that. I got an email a few months ago and saw my email was on a data breach. I changed my password and added more security. Not sure what else I can do.

It's all about using our common sense that's all. We know that these scammers would never stop learning how to improve their scamming skills. Eventually one day, we will fell for it. Before you are going to engage with that email, make sure that you always take time reading it and use your common sense whether if its true or just "too good to be true".

On top of that if that's indeed "kinda true" and "realistic", also check the recipient's email to see if it's suspicious or not. Common sense really matters here.

Scammers invest a lot of time to come up with new and effective scamming techniques that can be easily scammed. But this technique is not new, I also received such similar mail in an email that I used on different websites.

Scammers also want to trap crypto users with various threats/offers. So if you get such a mail you should not believe it because all these are sent by someone with the intention of scam!

I received many emails like that and i'm surprised that im not famous adult videos lover yet Cheesy They're trying to effect by the idea of humiliated by their relatives and friends. It's very common nowadays. Even in my country the scammers trying scam people by telling  "your identity card or your bank account releated to terrorism etc.". And many of them fall that tricks. But 5 or 6 years ago one of the candidate victim scam the scammers Cheesy  They said him collect all you money and send us when everything handled by us we will send you back. But that person was very brilliant and said " I have a car only and it's mortgaged by bank if you send me 5K, i ll pay the bank and sell this car. Then i will send that money please save my car". They thought we feared him and lets send him 5K and he will send us around 80-100K. Then he scam the scammers Cheesy

I was just reasoning same because I don't read emails, I don't bother to do even for a second. There are many of them falling in but they aren't important. I only read an email when I know I'm expecting one, then I can only expect when I must have messaged first or submitted my email online for an information feedback and when it's done, no email reading anymore.
Then another thing that takes me to email is quora questions  and answers.
No matter how smart hackers are or tend to become, one good thing is that they will always need your concent to be able to scam you. They can't do it if you don't help them.
