We could recommend a lot of stuff and a lot of wallets that you could try and determine the best wallet for you, but in general, what I think is that the best wallet to have is the one you own, meaning you generate the seed phrases. You have kept it in secure storage whenever you need it.

You asked the question in the wrong board though. That's why you are not getting enough responses Your first choice would definity be an open source hardware wallet like Trezor Here is a list of Open Source Hardware WalletsAlternative there are open source software wallets that are popular like Electrum ( https://electrum.org) it sometimes also depends on your preference: This should guide you - https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Honestly if you have to ask. You should just keep it on an exchange for now until you do some research.
On the exchange make sure you use a unique password and enable 2FA. And make sure 2FA is not by SMS and you should be fine. Sure its not 100% keeping on an exchange but its better than using some wallet online and you end up getting a virus and getting it stolen.

For newbies I would definitely recommend the electrum wallet and if you have a PC you can go with the official Bitcoin core wallet, or just buy a hardware wallet, these are the best options suitable for newbies, I've never bother using these though I started using trust wallet years ago and I still use it till date, no hacks or loss of fund so far.

The only choice for a wallet should be a hardware wallet and nothing else.
And electrum if you need a wallet for small deposits.

In my opinion:
- BlueWallet for a mobile wallet - Wasabi for a desktop wallet - A Ledger/Trezor hardware wallet for long-term holding
Ultimately, what the "best" wallet is is totally subjective. But one thing's for sure, 99% of bitcoin holders should grab a reputable hardware wallet.

Which Bitcoin wallet is the best?
You need Bitcoin wallet for what device and for what purpose? For desktop computers one of the best options is Electrum wallet, it's open source, easy to use, and you can even connect it with hardware wallets like Trezor, ledger, etc. If you want to be extra secure than you can use this wallets to create cold storage for storing larger amount of coins. For smaller amount of money you can use mobile wallets on smartphones, but this should be used only as pocket money. There isn't one universal solution for everyone and you can even combine several wallets depending on situation you are in. Before using any wallet you can check out walletscrutiny website and see if they are reproducible or not: https://walletscrutiny.com/or alternative website is bitcoinbinary.: https://bitcoinbinary.org/

One of the best bitcoin wallet to use is bitcoin-core. As light option I will prefer electrum. As mobile wallet I will use Free Wallet / Wallet of Satoshi / Phoenix. I have used also hardware wallet, but you need always to backup your seed... https://news.bitcoin.com/wasabi-wallet-to-begin-censoring-coinjoin-transactions/WASABI has several issues if you want use some of them features... it has been discussed even here on forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405325.0Personally... I don't like the idea to not extract the single private key

Unfortunately, I don't have sufficient experience in using mobile wallets and can't recommend anything. Actually, for me to know too.

Electrum has a mobile version too. He already talked about it though he had emphasis on the desktop version but the mobile wallet is equally good. The reason most people suggest electrum is because it's open source and reproducible, something which is not possible with most software wallets.

Mobile wallets aren't equally good as desktop wallets for example Electrum, IMO. Considering its high risk when you're using Electrum in the app version especially if you will use your personal mobile phone or it's a rooted phone. The best Bitcoin wallet IMO is the hardware wallet, because they'd built-in security features that will secure your fund.

The risk is the same. Compared to my mobile phone, what are the chances of having my laptop stolen or compromised? Same, especially if i regularly access the internet using my computer too. The difference comes in when one performs good security practices

Electrum's Android application has never convinced me to make it my main mobile wallet (if I needed one). I do have it installed but the feel of it isn't comparable with the desktop version. It also doesn't have some features like coin control and message signing. I think the console tab is also missing.

you can also use this link ---> https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet will ask you several simple questions, and by answering them, you will choose the best wallet according to your answer or according to your needs, and therefore the best wallet will be allocated according to those answers. So to get a better answer, use the link and then choose a list, and we can choose for you among them because the word "best" is for comparison between known things.

Whats wrong with these newbies opening one thread and never come back to read the answers?!, lol. Their intention was never to become a regular poster and member of the community. They had a problem, they probably googled the issue, and a search result brought them to Bitcointalk. Maybe it was a suggestion by a friend or some other forum user. But I get your point. If you got the help you needed, the least you can do is say thanks, I got what I needed. I learned something, Bye.

The one with the most work is no doubt Bitcoin Core-- even though that's more than just a wallet software. The software that is specifically made to use as a wallet software and has the most work must be Electrum. It's lightweight, simple, open-source, and involves lots of features such as coin control, multi-sig, lightning.
For mobile, I recommend BlueWallet (if lightning custody isn't a concern) and Zap if you want a wallet that focuses on lightning (and if lightning custody is a concern).
Edit: Oops! Didn't see September up there.
