Tables of users with the most merits earned (more than 1500 merits)

In order to have an overview of the level at which each user is, in relation to the number of merits received, I decided to present a table in which users are divided by various levels of merits received.

All users who have earned more than 1500 merits were distributed in 5 divisions: +10000 merits; +5000 merits; +2500 merits; +2000 merits and +1500 merits.

Data collected, based on information provided by LoyceV in Merit data analysis.
The indicated merits have not counted the number of merits received when the merits system was implemented.
I will try to make regular updates.

You don't have to be apologetic for creating a thread. As long as you did your research and no such thread exists AFAYK, then it's all fine.Great work OP. Including a link might have made it easier for users to check out members they are not familiar with, but it would have been a bit more work to include.

Also, I would have expected a constantly decreasing list, from 1,500+ up to 10k+. It's surprising that more members have over 2,500 merits, than those over 2k, but that's likey a result of the gap from 2.5k up to 5k+.

So far only merit received are used, merit airdrops not included. Can you just include people that receive 10000 1000 merits too? It is not easy for people to rank up on this forum like that, but easy for some people.

I would have liked it this way:
100     merits
250     merits
500     merits
1000   merits
2500   merits
5000   merits
10000 merits

But if you decide not to add those lower ranks, you can just start from 1000 merits.

Yes, it will be very big, given that many people have crossed the 1000+ merit level, with maybe a bigger number of them between 1000 and 1500 merits. I'm not a programmer, but I believe there should be a tool that can make the data look presentable and not too bulky to read when it's shown here. Excellent work, OP; I hope to see your name in the next update you publish.

Personally, I don't see any benefit from such statistics, especially if there is a project that most of the users of this forum have heard about, and by clicking on one link you get Most earned merit (after initial merit). That link also lists up to 1000 users, so most of them will be happy to see their name on that list. And best of all, the whole thing is automated.

That was a typo, I am only asking him to include people with 1000 merits too (which were not included) which I asked again in the last sentence on the post, When I first asked, I mistakely wrote 10000, but it was a mistake. People with 10000 merits are included already, I know. I will strike it out now for correction.

There are some "power users" of the forum who are very active, very insightful, and very helpful, all of which tend to result in people getting merit.

Most people who ever get any merit receive very little (the overwhelming majority of "users" never receive any merit). The few that do get merit tend to get a LOT. I can also say from personal experience that right before I reached various milestones, I would get a sudden surge in merit received, and that surge would continue for a while after I reached said milestone. I am not sure if this was because I was motivated by the milestone, or if people wanted to help reach the milestone, and once it was reached, my other posts were noticed.

I have a shared experience, especially before I achieved legendary rank. Merits received would thin out at intervals and spike up when I was approaching a new rank.

I hardly notice any such now, maybe cause I do not pay much attention to merits as I used to.

I've got you covered, here's the raw data that you can use to create the complete table. Every user who has earned over 1000 merit up to 12000 merit more is on the list below. I took it from merit dashboard again. It will be great for your work.

Now I expect to add a few more categories, for example 500+ merit. That must be a pretty good amount too.

indah rezqi, You can also separate it into sections, such as 1001 - 1500, 1501 - 2000, 2001 - 2500, 2501 - 5000, 5001 - 10000, 10001 - 15000. I'm sure people can see it more easily, but that's just a suggestion you might consider. But I hope the data is still incomplete, I have reached 1041 merit, but there are still 1036.

Sometimes statistics can be considered boring as several people can access them in several tools like Merit Dashboard, BPIP, Loyce.club or others ^{[if any].} But that's okay, it's just for something that can make it easier for thousands of other users to know about the data.

Why don't you think the title can still be changed to make all the same ideas in one thread instead of having multiple thread?

Then I can really think you're now wanting to make some silly assumptions about alt possibilities that aren't listed on that list. Having alts is allowed, so what makes you think someone shouldn't suggest ideas for threads to be nearly as perfect as expected?

This is just a thread about merit gain statistics among users, actually I can expect some of the best users with alt to make it on that list. Even if they abuse the forum rules, then it should be a different case.

It's nice to see statistics but merits aren't really 1 I care about. Since I am already Legendary they are of no use to me except bragging rights or helping lower ranks with the smerit I earn. It's a nice topic for those that care about merit though.

I agree with your sentiment. Your post also got me thinking about what statistics I would be interested in seeing. It would be cool to know how much BTC people have transacted, but I imagine that would require a revamp to the feedback system where people link feedbacks to actual transactions to a user’s staked address. Would be cool to see. I can’t imagine too many other statistics that would actually matter.

Adding several more categories would do exactly that since there are hundreds of those that earned more than let's say 500 merits.

Yes, merit dashboard data will be updated every Friday (if I'm not mistaken) and all data displayed in the list above is based on the latest updates. I think DdmrDdmr as the owner of the merit dashboard can answer it clearly for you.

For years in forum, I realized a fact that your contribution, your posts decide who you are. Earned merit does not decide who you are as well as your contributions (it's not a decisive or the only factor)

I agree with your sentiment. Your post also got me thinking about what statistics I would be interested in seeing. It would be cool to know how much BTC people have transacted, but I imagine that would require a revamp to the feedback system where people link feedbacks to actual transactions to a user’s staked address. Would be cool to see. I can’t imagine too many other statistics that would actually matter.

Could you explain your idea better? Maybe I could study this case. If you anticipate you can send DM.

Personally, I don't see any benefit from such statistics, especially if there is a project that most of the users of this forum have heard about, and by clicking on one link you get Most earned merit (after initial merit). That link also lists up to 1000 users, so most of them will be happy to see their name on that list. And best of all, the whole thing is automated.

I can top that: Here's the list of all 44,258 users who earned at least 1 Merit (bonus points if you know why the last one on the list has 0 Merit). This list is updated up until 10 days ago (the newer version will be published in my topic soon).

Update: last Friday's data dump finished processing. That adds 39 users.

I assume that it is a question of de-meriting, because the name of that member is mentioned in several threads, like this one for example. Although it is unclear to me why only that one user is on your list, because he is not the only one whose merits were taken away - but I am sure that there is an explanation for that.

I list all users who have received Merit. BPIP shows who sent it, and that user was abusing Merit at the time "for political reasons".

I list all Merit transactions that came from "userID 0" here. They're both positive and negative.

Let's create some other clubs with lower merit gain (maybe more than just 4 clubs), this won't take much time considering we can access tools and data easily.

While I have an idea to make your goal in this thread achievable, it's just an idea not a coercion because I don't think you're a stickler for sticking to the basics while you don't want to consider good ideas. Here are a few categories that I have in mind. But, I'm not going to force the OP to have to agree to it as this is just a suggestion.

• 100 - 249
• 250 - 499
• 500 - 999
• 1000 - 2499
• 2500 - 4999
• 5000 - 9999
• 10000 - up above it.

Speaking of not being familiar with members....wow.  There are a lot of them in the 2500+ earned list that I rarely see anymore or just plain aren't familiar with at all.  I'll have to check out what sections they're posting in--and it'd be so nice if it turned out to be a local board, wouldn't it?  I'm still getting the feeling that merit sources are badly needed in all of the non-English sections.

I am not aware that o_e_l_e_o has overtaken LoyceV in the highest earned merits.  12k+ is a very high number for you both, who knows if it's your merit counts that is dragging btc to 12k.

I will try, in the next update to include the users link. I believe this will help everyone to be able to explore a little more than other users and get to know us better.

Sometimes I think that there is a lot of knowledge in this forum, which goes unnoticed by several factors, and one of them is the fact that we can't get to know all the users who are minimally active.

The percentage of merits in the local boards is above the percentage of posts in the local boards. Either the quality of posts in the local boards is above average, which I think is unlikely, or the merit sources already cover local boards are well covered.

True, but this is an accumulation of merit airdrop and merit earned. So far theymos has only earned 9068 merit, so I don't think theymos is in the 10K merit club at the moment. There are only 3 users in the 10K+ merit club (excluding merit airdrop) at this time and they are o_e_l_e_o, LoyceV and fillippone.

For theymos, I don't think he will think about the merit rank, but he cares more about his system being useful to forum users. But good, now the profile has shown 10K merit more.

This is usually because they're regulars within either a certain section (think local sections) or part of a ongoing thread like the Wall Observer thread. Development, and Technical discussion also has a certain type of demographic, and due to its technical nature it doesn't get a lot of new users, compared to other sections.

The Collectibles section is another mini community which seem to be pretty tightly knitted. I quite like that we have these sort of sub sections of the community though.

I think it’s part of the human nature: you tend to gather with the people you like the most. Of course, as a merit source, I try to spread my merit network as much as I can, but in the end, everyone of us has their own “inner circle”.

In my other review, Merit Tree, this is very noticeable.
Although several users try to give merits to different users, we notice that there is always a set of merits directed to the same users on a regular basis.

But that also happens, because usually the same users present topics relevant to the whole community.

As long as it's relevant and up to the quality, I hope it's fine. Having more users for merit distribution might be better because it will help the system achieve more of its goals. But I believe when the same user makes decent posts then I don't think we should ignore them regardless they already have 1000 or 10,000 merit.

The ultimate goal is merit circulation, sending them to people who are willing to distribute them generating more merits in their turn.
I "burnt" some merits sending them to Satoshi or Hal, but this is an exception on my habits, and I recommend everyone limiting this kind f tribute to our idols.

I think you are the first person who thinks similarly to me when it comes to meriting those who are part of the system and not just hoarders. Before I merit someone I don't know, I take a quick look to see if the person is both a sender and receiver of merits. I have turned down meriting several posts if I notice that the users don't have a habit of rewarding other people. Some say it is wrong, and one person even considers it merit abuse. It makes sense to me, and that's all that matters.

There are of course exceptions to my meriting methods, but no reason to go into detail about that right now.

If you're limited on sMerit, I don't blame you. But if you're a Merit source that can barely empty it's source, it doesn't matter if you send it to someone who doesn't forward it. If I don't empty my source, it doesn't get replenished. I could call myself a sMerit hoarder by now.

If you normally send 1 per post, you can do 2 per post. Or 5, 10, 20... You can go back and merit posts you merited in the past. Some merit sources do that. It happens that you get merited for things you wrote 1 year ago by the same person who merited you at that time.

I am sure you have 3 or 4 times the source merit allocation that I have, so I am not surprised you have difficulties emptying those source bags and then having to distribute your own sMerits. You distribute merits, whether they are sMerits or your source merits is of no importance to me. You can't be considered a hoarder just because you never get to touch your sMerits. 

You would be a hoarder if the sent merit summary on your profile was empty.



But in your case, it isn't. Much merits. Great sendings.
