BPIP got a Factoid slot since when?

I didn’t know that BPIP got a factoid slot in forum advertisement section. Since when they got this? And did suchmoon requested or theymos considered or both? It’s just my curiosity. Great to see this though. BPIP deserves more attention and so does LoyceV project too though BPIP has linked loyce.club in many options. Thanks to theymos for adding this.

From what I understand, factoids are somewhat similar to the animated advertisements shown in random sections of the forum, no?  This is the first I've heard of the term, and I have no idea if I've ever seen anything like it on bitcointalk. Or perhaps the question would be; Does it still exist today?

No, factoid slots are text (link too) only advertisements. Out of 10 available ad slots, only 9 are auctioned off and the rest is set for facoid slots ad. You can see all the information here- https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adinfo

Wow never knew this, no doubt BPIP deserve this... although I haven't seen any of BPIP factoid yet but have seen few Satoshi's quotes from the list.

Other then BPIP and LoyceV project, I think these two can also request for a spot in factoid

I don't think my loyce.club has the GUI to get a Factoid It was never meant to be a stand-alone site, just a place where I can dump my data. It also doesn't need to be promoted on it's own.
What I would really like to promote is correct use of the Trust system and custom Trust lists. The more people use it, the more decentralized it becomes.

On note of not clicking the link though, it's available when you click "advertise here" on any topic with a reply and they're quite interesting to go through once to see if there's anything you've missed or see quotes users here have put in (especially ones not as active any more).

Stuff like this is normally done quite quietly. And normally takes being noticed by Theymos I think but there might be a thing that vips get a slot and some reputable people might get one too.

I've checked on archive sites and can't find a copy since last December, but it wasn't on there so it's been added since.

I initiated the idea, but the content of the factoids themselves was somewhat of a joint effort!

Happy to help get BPIP some of the recognition it deserves. My understanding is anyone who can see the donators section including VIPs can request a permanent factoid slot with minimal limitations, but outside of that anyone can suggest factoids that would be useful to forum users.

Whether they get added or not is probably based on how useful they actually are to the forum or its users.

I don't think people need to be concerned as much as they are about random stats from users here.  Especially when you consider that the people running them are obsessed with controlling the trust network and that's why they were drawn to these projects in the first place.  I think the obsession with tracking stats has led to attacks of honest people like myself and made this place a far worse environment for everyone as a result.  I wish people cared as much about real Bitcoin activity or projects that actually exist on the blockchain as they did about trying to be ranked high on a website that let's be honest, has devolved into a digital billboard.

Agreed.  I think bpip.org should focus on key metric stats that everyone can agree MATRs (matters).  Large forums like this allow scammers to hide multiple accounts and cooperate with other scammers to manipulate lists.  Aggregation sites like BPIP, Loyce and Ninjastic allow the average Joe to investigate.

I just realized it today but I guess since the announcement then theymos may have thought of a few to put in the factoid slot.

But one of the slots is for emojis, I don't know who he's laughing at. Lol



For appreciation, BPIP really deserves to be in one of those factoid slots. Maybe we'll find lots of other ideas as well that will pop up on the slots, I checked them out a few and they're great.
