I don't think any country love gamblor - even in states if the gamblers are identified at the workplace - they owners  rise their red flags.
Do you think they would be hired in the finance department or people would respect the gamblor. What to talk to underdeveloped countries - there gamblor are not given any respect. I am a witness to it.

Gamblers are often labeled as someone who cannot be held responsible anymore if they are placed in the finance department. at my former workplace, there was once a teller who used company money to gamble and he had to be held accountable for his actions by being in prison for 4 years

a gambler has a strong desire to continue to be able to make money so they will not care where the money comes from and from an incident like this every company will not hire a gambling addict in such a vital area as finance, A gambler's reputation must have been damaged in the eyes of the company

There’s no need to share to others if you are just playing occasionally, though if you caught playing with your students or co-employee, just ignore it as long as is it not against the rules of the university or a company you are dealing with. Gambling is not bad as long as you are still in control, you can also educate those students about gambling and the risk of it, I don’t think this can harm your reputation because it will still depend on how you handle this situation, so take it professionally.

We are in 21st-century bro, no one cares about you as long as you do your work right and don't allow four gambling activities to affect your job. Yes, this is what I'm also thinking, I met a teacher through my sister in law, she is not a gambler per se, but I will regularly see her in casinos, drinking and she is a lesbian. She will be sometimes at my sister in law's house having drinks. And since she is known to be a teacher in our place, there were some parents who is very concern because they don't want their child to see their teacher like having fun and drinking. But this is where the world we live in right now. Everything has changed, the old and traditional is replace by new beliefs and challenging the status quo in our society, we are very open now and I think majority is very open-minded. And so there's no need to explain to others about your relationship, or even what do you after office or school hours.

The kind of answer on this question depends upon the perspective of an individual and the norms in the environment where the lawyer or teacher is livng.  In a conservative community where gambling is considered as sin, definitely, founding out that a respected lawyer or a teacher engaging in such a "sinful" act, the reputation of that person will go down the drain.  But in a community where people are open-minded and see gambling as an ordinary hobby, then knowing that person being involved in gambling won't do any harm on his reputation at all.

So I think whether the reputation of a respected person gets tainted or harmed when he was found out engaging in gambling activities depends on the environment and belief of the people around him.

As a professional they looked up to you if you are a lawyer might as well keep it to yourself, there's competition in a court battle and they might use that issue

Lol, a lawyer's personal life is not considered in any case hearing he is attending.  People on the professional level don't care much about how you do with your life but rather care about how you perform well on your job.

and if you're a teacher it's okay to let them know that you are gambling you can even give your students lessons about how to become responsible gambling, it really depends on the profession you're holding and of course the location, it's a big no to expose yourself if you are working in a financial section of a company they might suspect you if there's a financial issue in your company, so better think if exposing will be to your disadvantages.

How was it ok for a teacher to be known to have a gambling activity and a lawyer should hide his? That is a clear biased way of judging people  .  I believe professional activities should be separated to personal matter or vice versa.  People don't have a say on whatever we are doing in our life as long as it doesn't affect anyone negatively, including ourselves.

I personally wouldn't care at all. It would even be better for me to let them know about the nature of my hobby and let them understand that if done properly, it won''t affect anything regarding my finances and life. Sometimes people need education in order to understand the things that they don't know about. It's a lot easier to do that rather than be judged based on what they do. It might even promote updstanding citizens if they checked all sides of the before casting their judgment on someone.

I truly value this comment as it contains all the ingredients on public judgment on individuals in the society and cooperate bodies, the truth is one needs to arrive at a stage where what the public stereotypes judgment and opinion is doesn't matter to you anymore as long as you carry your life and responsibility accurately whatever your personal life is doesn't matter. And there is a need for adequate understanding before judgment because people do things according to their experiences in life so costing a stone before verification and information always leads to poor judgment.

The reason why a lot of people are against gambling because they only see the extreme negatives but not those who use it as an escape or as a means to enjoy without damaging their lives. If people can only learn how to check all sides and cover all bases before judging, this wouldn't happen. The gambling industry is responsible for creating tons of job opportunities all around the world, but people are only zooming in on the problematic gamblers and I think that has to change somewhat.

How they view gamblers depends on the society or the country the person resides. There are some societies that view gambling as an immoral behavior, hence gamblers are seen as menace to the society. But some more advanced or civilised societies don't give a damn about people's personal lives. As much as the gambling habit is not affecting the person's finance or the person is not addicted to gambling then it's okay.

There are also religious undertones as regards to how people see gamblers. Some religion see gambling as a sin because it is perceived as having a strong desire to get rich quick. Hence people might perceive gamblers as sinners based on their religious beliefs.

If you live in a society where gambling is frown at, the best option is to ensure you keep your gambling life secret to avoid the negative consequences. But if your gambling life is now unveiled in such society, convincing people that it is for entertainment would be very difficult because most people wouldn't care to listen.

I'll simply ignore them because its none of their business on what are the things you do as long you are still responsible in regarding with your priorities and finances and you arent messing up something
then you are just doing fine.Dont mind other peoples mind or impression to be bad just because you do gambling.Ex. if you are a teacher, which it would really be that known or could be seen out by your

You should be fine as long as your gambling habit doesn't affect your professional day job. I bet they wouldn't care at all unless you lied to them that you never gambled before.

Explaining to them would only make you feel guilty that you're doing something wrong. Maybe invite the adults to play for fun if they want to hehe. Gambling for entertainment is also a way to socialize just like drinking.

To be honest, I never share my gambling story with anyone, even it is my family members. I prefer to keep my private activities, no worth telling others. Since no one knows, I don't need to explain anything to others.

By the way, sometimes it is difficult to ensure others whether gambling is safe for entertainment. Especially, online gambling isn't really familiar in my neighborhood, while physical gambling is forbidden here. It is complicated to explain to them, they won't trust any reason since they have their own mindset that gambling is a totally bad thing. People here only know that gambling will spend all our money instantly and it has no good advantage at all. People only hear the negative issues about gambling. Actually, that reputation can't just be easily ruined just because we do gambling if we are really known for having a good character.

Just like in the example you have mentioned if that lawyer and teacher are really doing their best in their respective field, there should be no issue about them if people found out that they do gambling. It's like a normal thing already that everyone is gambling.

We don't have to impress the community if we know to ourselves that we are doing good despite being involved in gambling.

Everything which is still in control and been dealing on moderate way then it should be fine and there's nothing that you should be ashamed off.If everything is still intact and you could still do things in order
then i dont see for you to be ashamed on what you are doing even playing gambling.Can't really just ignore that the society would be always having that negative insights and views towards gambling

I need to be responsible and there is no change, because I was in a position to teach the students. Tomorrow the same students can follow my footsteps and ask for suggestions. I don't really care for what other people will say. I will just continue my own interest and will disregard what they say.

But sometimes, there are professions that really prohibit gambling, and no choice but to comply there.

I don't know in other countries but here in our country, policemen for example are not allowed to do gambling. They will be kicked out of the service if these policemen caught doing gambling even in off-duty or not in uniform.

It will depend on in what area you are, how your environment around you, and how the culture and beliefs in your area about gambling.
If this is in my area, yes, even if I am a very good person, with a good salary, job, and also position, when people know me as gambling (whatever the reason), this will really make other people point of views in me chaning. They will think negatively about the gamblers whatever the reasons.
Because gambling is very restricted in my country and moreover in my religion. This is fact in my area.

When people become judgemental to you that means they've already known you or just judged you physically. When they've not known you, people ask what you do in life, and you become important and have high respect for knowing what your profession is.

They will not mind it if you are gambling when you still have success but once you lose success, lose your car, lose your family that's when you get to be judged terribly.

Whatever view society sees about me is their cup of tea, they have theirs and I have mine to live and as long as I do my job without compromising a single second with betting, I don't think they have every right to judge my betting life. Some people don't value gamblers, either you do it for fun or for other reasons, they will always see it as bad but as long as you know when to play, you don't have any reason to convince any person into believing you aren't addicted but to be sincere, if you do it during work time, that is really bad of you, it shows you are not a professional who values other peoples time and that will make you lose customers.

Why do I have to care for what people have to say? If it doesnt affect my job performance and i'm not breaking any rules related to my work then I dont think there's a need to explain myself to other people just because I gamble. As long as i'm not an addicted gambler and does not influence the people around me negatively then I dont think it's a problem. We have our own way to entertain ourselves, gambling is not different, just make sure that you have self control and playing in moderation.
