Thanks for bringing it up! I've actually tried it once and was really disappointed. This is not a Muun review, but a few points.
1) No control. Whatsoever. No coin control, no UTXO view, not even the ability to view what amount of your 'Bitcoin balance' is on-chain or off-chain.
2) No ability to manage your own Lightning channels.
3) No ability to change the Electrum or Lightning server it connects to.
4) I moved a relatively small amount of BTC to it over Lightning, and a few hours later I couldn't get it back out through Lightning. Well, I could, but the extremely high fee (compared to the LN transfer I used to fund it) indicated that they moved almost all of my funds (like, except a few sats) to an on-chain address and to get it back out through LN, I had to pay for a submarine swap. This was super annoying, as I assumed to be able to quickly deposit and withdraw some funds from it at almost no cost, just to quickly test the application.
Anyhow, the wallet I envision, is very different from Muun. I just want to make this clear:
You should get a clear and complete view and control of your (separate!) Lightning and on-chain balances, as well as a view of your UTXOs.
You should be able to 'move' a single UTXO (in full - to avoid jumbling UTXOs together) to the Lightning balance (e.g. to top up the LN wallet) manually.
You should be able to 'move' Lightning funds back to the Bitcoin wallet, resulting in new, unlinked UTXOs.
You should be able to spend Bitcoin from the on-chain wallet and receive the change in your Lightning wallet automatically. [(this is the main feature)]The first of them is that this wallet do not use a seed. They use a different way to back up private keys and you even need to give your email to them.
That's a limitation of Lightning; there are not just seed phrases, but also channel state databases that need to be backed up (all the time). Muun's system helps with this continuous backup duty, but it makes the whole thing more complicated than backing up and restoring a regular Bitcoin wallet.
That's good to know! Thanks for checking.
I appreciate seeing more WalletScrutiny usage.
