Hacking is big business online. There are two big reasons why people get hacked: Flaws in software and flaws in human behaviour. You cannot do much about coding vulnerabilities, but you can change your own behaviour and bad habits.
“Computers are just like guns back in the olden days,” says hacker Jayson E Street. “Criminals used guns because it was easy to commit a crime. Well, computers have made it really easy to commit crimes.”

Here are the steps you can take to protect yourself online:
  • Keep track of the latest cybercrime techniques so that you’re aware of them when browsing.
  • Another way to avoid being the victim of cybercrime is to install anti-virus software and keep software up to date, as updates generally upgrade security and remove bugs.
  • Hardware should also be kept up to date to support software security upgrades.
  • Never open suspicious emails or links.
  • Stay off public networks and disable Bluetooth when not in use.
  • Passwords should be regularly updated.
  • Enable two-factor authentication on online accounts wherever possible.

Hacking happens at many levels and takes various forms, from personal attacks using common phishing scams to breaches of government software security using sophisticated coding.
"Humans are clearly cybersecurity’s weakest link," says Hofmann. "Every person can be hacked. Sometimes it's not a matter of education. It's sometimes a matter of awareness or attention in the moment."

  • Keep track of the latest cybercrime techniques so that you’re aware of them when browsing.

What are this techniques we should be aware of when browsing, atleast make some mentions.

  • Another way to avoid being the victim of cybercrime is to install anti-virus software and keep software up to date as updates generally upgrade security and remove bugs.

have you conducted your research to the extent of knowing that some of these antivirus are malwares on itself?

  • Hardware should also be kept up to date to support software security upgrades.

only on air-gapped device, as recommended.

  • Never open suspicious emails or links.

but how do we identify the suspicious ones from the ones not being suspicious, this talks about phishing mails, links, ads and services you never opted in for or subscribe into sending you links, avoid clicking them and don't download their images

  • Passwords should be regularly updated.

why must you change your password regularly when you're not a camelion, you must be unsure of the things you do online to have made you think of doing so, if you have a continuous change of password you can easily make mistakes and can be a costly one, it is you that shouldn't be careless with handling your password on where you write them or keep them.

You can check out the original article here: https://www.euronews.com/next/2022/04/22/7-tips-from-cybercrime-experts-to-stop-hackers-in-their-tracks
You should have copied the original text you just posted and put it in a quote box so members on sight know straight away that you aren't the owner of the text, i know you have put the link in the bottom which is just okay according to the forum and her rules, but if you want members to discuss about topics gotten this way, you simply copy it and put it in a quote box, then add your own notions and ideas about the original text.
Passwords should be regularly updated.
By the way, about this one point, passwords should not be changed or updated regularly except your device was compromised, then you can change your passwords to a new one quicky. If your device hasn't be compromised, just create a strong password and have it backed up, but the best option is to use a password manager, one that is open source, e.g KeePass to create random passwords for yourself and have it safely stored.

  • Never open suspicious emails or links.
I only click on email links that I authorized for. If not, likely I will leave the email untouched or report it as spam. I have reported more as spam until I stop using such email for what could result to spam messages.

If email are used for legit sites, phishing email may not be sent, just like the one I used for Bitcointalk. But if I see anything phishing, I will spot it.

  • Hardware should also be kept up to date to support software security upgrades.

only on air-gapped device, as recommended.

I do not understand you here. Explain further. The topic is not only about cold wallets, but other devices included.

By the way, about this one point, passwords should not be changed or updated regularly except your device was compromised,
That is true, best to use a strong password. I do that randomly by pressing on characters like this on my device.

Code:
Bebe+$-_-$-kdhdg!$-_-37$+jdhdhdh$(_-$+$-$-$-$jdhsgs+$-$-$7$+$+_-djdgdajdhfhehs

But people can use guide like this for it: [GUIDE] How to Create a Strong/Secure Password

It is good to create a strong password randomly by yourself if you can do it, but as a crypto user with many accounts it may be hard to create a strong password for them all, and then backing it up could be another problem, do you provide back ups for all your passwords in one place, or do you back them up individually, after some years you may lose some of your passwords; that is why i feel an open source password manager like KeePass should be the best option, one can save as many passwords as possible, and they only have to back up their master key that gives them access to all their saved passwords.

You can't always escape hackers trap, instead of doing all this work just to avoid getting hacked it's better to use a separate PC to browse online and do all things that are not information sensitive like bank account details or crypto wallets, I believe this is better because you can never tell, even if hackers find a way into your PC they won't find any useful information that can hurt you.

If this measures are complicated then you should first start with developing the foundation phrase for your security with one of the most important is disciple.

Hackers prey on indiscipline like greed, clumsiness, and general insensitive to potential threat, as a crypto-currency enthusiast it should have come to your notice about not keeping funds on exchanges rather you have a wallet you can call your own, protect your device at all time using 2FA, strong password, careful about the content of messages you get and what you click on especially social media messages and emails.

The first rule so that you don't get hacked is don't click on messages and download anything you don't think is important in your mail inbox, many people have been hacked because they are trivial with incoming messages in their emails and use public internet networks carelessly.
regarding changing passwords periodically, that's fine but if you're lazy to do that, you have to create a strong password with a complicated combination of numbers or punctuation, which only you know, and keep the password in a safe place away from the public.

Low quality posts refers to posts that were made effortlessly which eventually gets deleted, not like this one is going to get deleted anyways but, it counts for an effortless posts as its just some copy paste work with a link.
I thought I was going to be met by something new but, its the same old familiar strategy.

Anyway, thanks for sharing although. It's good to think of the safety of others but still, one step where I find fault is in the updates. It doesn't always help at all times as, some updates actually comes with bugs. So one has got to watch it.

Well that is right, must be all of your valuables stuff which you need security and must be separated from a gadget that did not daily used.
It should be on a full air-gapped device that rarely or does not be connected online. There are too many factors to consider if we talk about safety and security against cybercrime --be vigilant at all times dealing with transactions or dealing with people online.

  • Never open suspicious emails or links.
  • Stay off public networks and disable Bluetooth when not in use.
Two things to remember for everyone that is not a techie at all. These two are good starts for those who are starting to be aware of the cybercrime that's happening on the web.

Don't be a victim of phishing links and as well as WIFI public access. Hackers are making their own access for those people that are ignorant about it. They're targeting those people that are used to connecting to public WiFi and connections.

There are emails that might get your attention by saying that you've won a large amount and will have the link at the end of the message, don't get fooled by those.

Keep track of the latest cybercrime techniques so that you’re aware of them when browsing.
Most of us don' track it. Personally I don't have time to track all of reports about cybercrime. Prevention is better. If you have good prevention by a healthy web-surfing practice, you are likely safe even you don't know about a newest trend of cybercrime.

Quote

Not completely safe with anti-virus software or Internet security software. They rely on pseudo heuristic to detect potential threats. Sometimes they give you true positive
but sometimes they give you false positive as well as false negative too. So again, prevention is better than relying on AV or Internet security software.

Quote
Never open suspicious emails or links.
True. But prevention is better again. You should reserve your main email for important things and only use sub emails for non important things. Example when you want to explore a new born platform, let's use your sub email for that. You will receive less spam, phishing email in your main email.

Quote
Passwords should be regularly updated.
It is non sense if you use a weak password.

Quote
Enable two-factor authentication on online accounts wherever possible.
Backup your 2FA too and don't forget that 2FA means it should be stored on a different device than the first device you log in your email, your exchange account  with password and so on.

Never mind me. You just come to the conclusion. How did you know?  Grin

But the hackers are always using similar tactics, which is introduction and installation of malware on victims devices in case of hacks, but there are other ones that require people to stay up to date to just have the knowledge of it, example are people that are scammed through discord server that the admin account or so is compromised and some others. It is easy to avoid online attackers, but it is worth knowing the latest ones that are also existing.

I agree with you. You need to understand how a hacker can install malicious software on your computer or phone. By understanding how to prevent this, you will always be protected from it. I'm not sure what you meant about administrators, but it is dangerous to trust anyone who is not your acquaintance in our time. Anyone who could be a friend yesterday can change today. Some scammers take a very long time to prepare the victim. Unfortunately, in our time, even offline, all moral principles are lost, to say nothing of strangers on the Internet. Having said that, I agree that it is necessary to monitor the news about fraudulent schemes. Once upon a time, many also did not know about phishing. It is likely that in our time, something has appeared that can also harm the user.

  • Enable two-factor authentication on online accounts wherever possible.
In addition to what @tranthidung said, it's worth noting that depending on the type of 2FA someone uses, it might give them a false sense of security [e.g. SIM jacking for those that use SMS 2FA]!

it's better to use a separate PC to browse online and do all things that are not information sensitive like bank account details or crypto wallets, I believe this is better because you can never tell, even if hackers find a way into your PC they won't find any useful information that can hurt you.
There are two issues with this:

  • Some users can't afford to have a separate PC for other stuff.
  • AFAICR, nothing can stop hackers from infiltrating other computers if all of them are connected to the same network.
