If you like watching crypto videos on YouTube this post is for you.

Be careful with YouTubers that provide links to websites under their videos some are scammers and this is one of the latest ways that newbies are losing money,  a brother who lives close was trying to watch some videos on YouTube about how to stake EverDome token for APY returns and he almost lost it all, the Youtuber dropped a link that's not Bakeryswap.org 👈 which is the official Bakeryswap website, instead, the scammer dropped this



He was lucky to ask question because he was also curious.

1. The fake website has higher APY % compare to the original Bakeryswap APY

2. EverDome staking was never available on the Original Bakeryswap, I guess the scammer knew that people are buying and staking Everdome token on the official website and he plan to lure people with higher APY

Use your brain out there famz, do not trust all videos you watch on Youtube, always make sure you do some research on the link you are provided, make sure its the official link before connecting your wallet.

If one seeks for easily presented things on Youtube, that's OK.
But if one clicks on links from Youtube without being 100% certain he knows what he's doing, sorry, but he deservers his fate.
What I want to say is that Youtube has a very long history of videos with links to websites that are shady or plain scam.
...And that's not only in crypto.


But, as I keep saying, this kind of warnings may be of no help since for many (especially newcomers) the greed is too high and the knowledge is too low. Dangerous combination.

Thats correct. Even though a lot of warnings has been posted here, none actually listen and still do things theyll be in trouble later on.

The problem here isnt about how to avoid but to be reminded and absorb knowledge that this kind of thing could eventually bankrupt them instead of earning. Well greedy people arent listening anyway.

I clicked it and it seems you are redirected to the exchange site which asks to connect your wallet.

I guess that the advertised 718% staking made some get hooked, but keep in mind that everything that sounds too good to be true is most probably scam. However, do as you think with your money.

for those who already understand how things work on the internet, they definitely won't be interested in listening to the words that are done by YouTubers because they are just repeated words spoken by many YouTubers, they only copy-paste and modify a little.
but as neuroticfish said, newbies will definitely get caught up in the tricks of scammers on youtube because of the combination of greed and their low knowledge.

Some people really have a hard time understanding something that is so obvious, and it is even stranger that such a question is asked by someone who has been on this forum for 5 years. People looking for financial advice on YT or anywhere else on social media really have a big problem. Freedom of speech combined with millions of naive people is a really wicked combination, isn't it?

There's only one advise i must give regarding watching videos on YouTube, don't click or watch except you have the clean idea of the particular user who happens to be someone you followed back to back and trust thieir genuity in delivery, have seen alot of videos who's content does not tally with the title of what they are symbolising, we need to be very careful because before you know it, you've gone far with them, visual aids is one of the simple ways they quickly get attention through online videos, better not to smell what you won't eat.

It's a basic but vital step for everyone in cryptocurrency. Don't trust, verify.

And if you want to find some information about one project, let's get started with Coinmarketcap.com and Coingecko.com. I strongly advise to use both sites for double-checking.

Let's practice with Bakery swap. Searching on both sides and you will get links to Bakery swap.

If you want to cross checking more, you can search with search engines like Google but remember search engines should be a later step, not a first one to do. If you use search engine firstly, you will more easily fall into phishing sites.

the number of his subscriber does not matter what matters is his credibility. if that YouTuber posted scam links, there is no point in listening to him. he lost his credibility and listening to him would just put you at risk of getting scammed and if I were you I would report the channel for trying to scam people.

If I can recall correctly, there was also a fake Binance channel with 500k subs in Youtube back then but it was a giveaway and a VOD of previous stream was only playing making it look like a real live stream. Not sure how much was scammed though. I might have watched some tutorials for day trading in crypto from some Youtubers like Crypto Jack, but I would never find myself clicking whatever links that they are going to provide.

Even if Mr. Beast even did one of those, I would never.

I did a search on Youtube about John Bitcoin it's nothing famous, maybe just a new Youtube that just posted its phishing site in the description by putting a link to the scam.

Actually a lot happens to famous Youtube channels that promote scam sites under the pretext they will refund double after deposit, and scamers try to hack famous Youtube channel in Bitcoin and after getting it will LIVE streaming full 24hours, for me this is already know classic scam but some of them may still be tricked.

Yeah, any suspicious links shouldn't be clicked.

I watch many video like this on youtube and some of this scammer is copying video of other trusted influencers and re-uploading it to there own youtube channel with fake subscribers. They are changing the attached link to the scam one as if the video is telling to go on the attached website. You will surely be scammed if you are newbie and didn’t do research about the influencer before you click the links attached on the video.

More sophisticated scams are when those scammers spread their links to YouTube accounts with millions of subs they hacked. So instead of just being careful, people should stop clicking on links or ads of any kind regarding cryptocurrencies. When advertisements associate well-known brands, a safer way is to search for announcements by going to the official website manually.

You don't need to, I use a empty wallet to connect to the website and I see few unrealistic returns, its like you will give away your assets thinking you are staking and waiting for returns, you ain't getting any, like I've said I used a wallet I generated without writing down its phrase, just for testing purpose.

Most scams that I have witnessed involved adding some random links to their thread/videos where it would direct you to a poorly made website. Like what I always mentioned to posts like these, prevention is always better than cure. You have the responsibility to avoid dubious links such as what OP posted since you absolutely have no guarantee about its safety and security.

Again, there is nothing free in this world. If a website claims to have some free BTCs, then always have some doubts about the giveaways that you see. If someone messages you telling to invest in a certain project, always be skeptical and alert.

Phishing scam, it's not new and I don't think there's a person who haven't aware with this kind scam in this day. If they can be scammed with this kind method, it's because of their greediness and fault, not from how good is the scammer method.

I think currently we haven't see a new scam or hack method that doesn't require the user to download or clicking random link, it would be dangerous and everyone might fall to the trap.

I don't know where OP found this video, but as far as I can see, the video has only 3 views. 
it is also inconceivable to me that some completely anonymous people who promise some extra projects can be trusted just like that.

If you see this kind of content related to crypto for sure those accounts are keep promoting with their referral codes and of course even the white paper and roadmap is legit but still if this is easily manipulated with the market, they take away your money. That's why if you want to invest in those large coins, check how many large amount holders they are because they can easily rug the market price. Use the report feature of YouTube to prevent this from spreading immediately.

One thing certain is that scammers will always look out for ways to scam people, of which their main targets are always newbies and people with no or less knowledge about a particular new coin, with an offer too good to be true. Scamming has never been a new thing when it comes to cryptocurrency, being a fast-growing industry that has been in existence for the past 13yrs, which is why I always tell people about the importance of always doing your research "DYOR" before investing, buying or staking any new coin, as it saves you from the possibility of being scam, just the same way O.P just saved his friend from been scam by quickly spotting the difference between the fake and the original site

And, secondly, always pay attention to the "URL" of every given website, because the difference between a scam site and the original at times may be a slight change in either 1 or 2 letters.
