You are right, this is always risky. The world is full of jealousy, envy and selfishness. Don't you all think that in the course of we trying to show off this kind of winnings to friends, families, colleagues etc, we end up drawing known and unknown enemies to ourselves?

The heart of man is desperately wicked, Man destroy and kill his fellow man out of envy and jealousy, they celebrate your success with you in your front, but when you are not there, they device means to bring you down, or even kill you.

I think people should learn to keep their success stories away from physical people, because as they joy and praise you physically, secretly, they might not be as much happy as they appear physically.

If I am eager to share my success story, I prefer to do it online where no body knows me In person, like this forum, doing this offline with family, friends, colleagues, etc.. I think is too risky.

I also read this story and remember, there are some successes that can't be hidden such as this very win because even if you try to hide it, the cashier if not controlled might get blown up.

You mentioned that the equivalent amount of Niara in USD was $51k then how did he become a mutli-millionaire.
Was it like this that he became a multi-millionaire in Niaras ?
51k is definitely a great amount of price to be won but still not so much that can change one's life.
Ofcourse it can help him do some great stuff but he will have to invest it inorder to conserve the amount otherwise it won't last long.

This is why privacy concern is very important when it's about personal thing including money, most people can't accept if there's a person who lucky to get a huge amount money or richer than them, they will do anything in order to kill you or rob your money.

This is the first thing that popped into my head when I read the article you shared.

The first thing that you must do is to keep the excitement to yourself. While it may be difficult not to celebrate, you are actually putting yourself in a dangerous position to your neighbors and peers. Given that Nigeria is a relatively poor country, that kind of amount can definitely turn upside down the life of a person. In addition, your life can be potentially at risk once the information spreads as kidnapping and violence is rampant in that country.

I do hope that the person claiming the money manages it well. Personally, I would leave their country and start a new life somewhere else which is safer.

if we calculate from the capital he spent, he won 50x, that's really great luck. if the man publishes his victory openly then it will threaten his personal life and maybe the people around him. keep it normal it's very good, especially what I saw on the news that the crime rate in Nigeria is quite high.

This is one of those insane wins for sure and it proves the fact that it's possible to win big from gambling as long as luck sides with you big-time.

For example, I remember this particular woman who won millions through a 10 pounds bet or something. That win blew my mind away when I first heard of it. It's like winning a lottery though the odds in this case are way better.

I agree with you that this kind of news is not safe enough to be publicized but for winning such a huge amount of money the casino will take it up and have such person under their record history and involve the media as well about such winning, i think it's part of the casino's rules on every huge amount of winning a gamble is fortunate to make, they must air it to the media and make a live broadcast/celebration party for such a winner, even though we all know that isn't proper enough for privacy reasons.

you're right and it has happened before on several occasions whereby people are killing each other because of money, put if such gambler is wise enough he should know how to make a disappearance from how to get him tracked down.

If I'd won or got something big, I keep my mouth shut. I don't want any celebrations to happen and I want it to remain lowkey. This is like making some profits in trading, I've done that before and managed to keep my success to myself and never shared it to anyone.

I will also keep my winnings in private because there are lots of people pretending to be friends waiting to exploit us of our financial capability.  It is better to solo the glory and financial gain than being surrounded by these fake people.

It happens at most times when they've figured out that you've got money and they're in need. So, that's what we just have to do when we win big amounts because those people will show the truest of them when they see someone who's in good condition and has money to be sucked by them.

It's better to be alone on these times of success rather than being known by people surrounding you and their only main goal is to ask for share and that's for sure. When you are in that type of crowd following you, that's one thing for sure that they'll ask from you.

Not 1k bet but just over $1 bet. So his winnings is still almost $51k.
Who would have thought that $1-level bet would give him such fortune? So yes, he is lucky.
Maybe, he was just too excited he couldn't contain his happiness, hence, letting his neighbors know what luck he got.

It seems miraculous to me too, how someone could become the owner of so many dollars by completing just a few bets. Moreover, it has been publicized in the head column of a local newspaper. However, if God keeps good luck then no one can stop it.

I doubt that the account is from a national newspaper.  Look at how many people are subscribed to that account.  A legit national newspaper account could have more than hundreds of thousand of followers/subscribers if not millions.  I think the national newspaper is just an account name but not literally means that the account is recognized as official national newspaper.

There are principles in writing a news.  It should goes around a fact wherein, it gives an alias if the name shouldn't be exposed, the place of event and many others that supports the incident.  The first sentence alone shows that the news is unreliable (see -  An unidentified man <<< ) and a cut bet slip... how can they get a betslip if the winning man is unidentified plus I think the book maker will not provide players' bet slip to anyone due to privacy law.

Another flaw is that they are able to tell the activity of that man when they already told us that the man is unidentified.. .  The series of events of that news just simply don't sink in.  

With regards to winnings, bragging too much about the winnings to the people who know us often results in uncomfortable instances.  So better keep the news of winnings a secret to avoid uncomfortable results.
