I'm a also a local agent for buying and selling of landed properties, and from my observations, I can say that investing in Bitcoin has some edge(advantages) over investing in landed properties as follows

Easy Sorting

Bitcoin can be easily sorted for as compared to lands which in some cases, takes some time to sort at a land to meet a buyer's specification and budget.

Availability

Bitcoin also as compared to land has also been readily available for purchase at all time as compared to land which might be exhausted or not available at a particular area when needed at a particular time

Ease Of Trading

Buying and selling of Bitcoin can easily be done from the comfort of one's bed, which isn't the case with landed properties as it is difficult most time to sort for potential buyers and also sellers at some points and time.

Faster Dividend Of Return is one advantage of Bitcoin over landed properties, as one who invests in Bitcoin now(bear run) will be smiling in no time as there might be possible Bull run before the end of next year.

You're an actual investor if you have these assets as these are the greatest assets that an individual can have. So for me, if am to choose which to invest, i will rather choose Bitcoin over land investment. Why? Simply because of the reason you listed above and the one I will add,  as another good quality about Bitcoin is that it can be "Evenly divisible" I.e It can be divided into whatever fraction or number that deems fit for its buyer

I will rather invest in Bitcoin in this bearish season than landed property, because landed property use to take a long process before you can get the necessary documents that will make the property legal for you to use compared to Bitcoin investment, both the new and the old investors can invest in this bearish season, and have hope of achieving something good before the end of this year. There are some signs already in the crypto market that showed that there is a big hope for Bitcoin investors, because the price of Bitcoin will definitely increase higher in this month of November to remain stable through out the Christmas and new year celebration to enable long term investors to experience favour from their investment.

So, not everyone can afford to buy a land and develop it  in a year. That's the main reason why a lot of people would prefer Bitcoin, because it's always available in the market and you will be able to buy fractions of it until you acquire a whole.
Land property takes time to develop. Once you purchase a property, you won't be expecting any return for the next 2-5 years depending on your capital and how you develop it to create a passive income stream.
it would be a wise decision if you start with Bitcoin.

OP, you should have added an option for "both" .....because people should have a balanced investment portfolio, that contains a mix between "low" / "medium" / "high" risk investments. The investor should decide what percentage of funds should be invested into each category.

I prefer to have an aggressive portfolio, where I invest say 40% into low risk investments and also 40% into high risk investments like Crypto currencies. Only 20% goes into medium risk investments .... but other investors might decide to have a more conservative investment portfolio, with much less invested into Crypto currencies. This type of comparison only works when at least one option is considered a bad investment like comparing bitcoin with altcoins then decide which one to invests in. But when both options are viable then the comparison is wrong.

You should consider them both at the same time. In fact the best way to invest your money is to diversify which means finding assets that have nothing in common (their markets are not linked) and investing in all. Meaning if you buy both bitcoin and land, things that affect bitcoin price do not affect land price and vice versa which makes them both good options for diversification.

Of course generally speaking you should educate yourself in both fields to know how to invest, where to invest (eg. land location), when to invest and how to secure your investment (eg. cold storage).

you are then paying a property insurance premium, maintenance costs, county/state tax

also the "multiplier" of inflation of house prices is small. yes over 10 years you could multiply your initial investment. but with bitcoins 4 year cycles the amount increases more than in housing

I invested in both as part of diversifying my investments. For the last 10 years, bitcoin investment has performed well compared to real estate. The good thing about real estate is you can seldom experience a drop in value, it continues to grow over the years although slowly. It is worth investing in both of them as they are good investments, but it would be unwise to invest in only one of them and not diversify the portfolio as a whole. I agree.

They do have their own purpose but it will entirely depends on an individual capabilities on managing whatever he will choose. It's true that Bitcoin easier to manage, and could easily be kept where people wouldn't know it exist in your property. The only disadvantage of landed properties for me is that they are too vulnerable for anyone who wants to claim it's theirs, especially if we're talking about greedy government officials, or worst case scenario, terrorist or bad people who are willing to kill others just to get that property.

Bitcoin can not be compared with land in some ways but honestly speaking, both have their own role likewise benefits too. Bitcoin has much more value attached to it, Bitcoin is a global entity recognized for it's value worldwide. It has every potential of price increase speedily compared to the other because already, it has been tagged a store of value as a digital gold so therefore this has boasten the use case which gives it edge over other assets. However, landed properties are quite alright. It is worth investing and appreciate with time and importance attached to it. I see that people often try to draw comparison between two different assets which can't be concluded logically. This is one of such comparisons. When someone buys a physical property, a lot of factors go in there! It's not just a brick and mortar establishment. It also about where the property is purchased and when. The ROI from a property depends on multiple factors unlike bitcoin. So the comparison itself is invalid.

I would personally prefer to buy bitcoin over a property which is located in a village. But I will prefer property over bitcoin, if the property is located in the city center where the government has planned for some future developments like metro rail, train lines or hospital etc. It's as simple as that! I would equalise both of them and if I have to consider few major factors such as volatility and appreciation value then it could hamper my decisions in terms of “ratio” that I choose to invest in both of them. For example, bitcoin is highly volatile but at the same time it is far more appreciating in value as compared to landed property. Your points are all about accessibility bitcoin has over land/property investment, which the exception of last point which refers to profitability, but then you ignore the volatility of crypto market, which can push bitcoin's price downside yet for a decent length of time, while when investing in lands, we are protected by the stability this kind of investment proportionate us. I would love to have both, and since I already bought landed property from my cryptocurrency earnings, I am now focused on accumulating BTC for further real estate investment (from BTC profit).  I believe investing in both assets won't go wrong.

Both is good for investment and they standing different from other not really to be in comparison, they are apart. Bitcoin is not land and they have different advantage or disadvantage. Bitcoin like land are traded for income. Investing in a right time and amount can lead to many profitable investment. It's good to have both as an investment. If there are opportunities to acquire properties then grab the chance provided you study the location and possible future value of the land. Many aims to have their future home and some dream of having big farm lots,  it's a good investment until we see it's potential for future returns since land value increases in time.

If we prefer trading and knowledgeable enough to get profit on it then focus first on trading until there is extra budget to buy other investment but make sure to atleast have your own home since the market isn't always about profit, as long as we know the risk we are taking when we invest either in land or in crypto.

First of all its a wrong comparison, bitcoin is digital asset while the landed property is physical which can be both liability or asset depends on what we are using. Property is not easily liquified while bitcoins can be converted into fiat in just a matter of minutes so I would like to vote for both since both serves good stability to our portfolio value.

Depends on the first one that you buy. If you do not own your own house, it’s always better to have a house, so if you could ever get enough money to buy your first ever house and live in it, then it would be the best investment.

I was lucky enough that both my parents and my wife’s parents helped us to get our own house and that’s awesome, but after that I do not think that a second house is really worth it. I personally believe that the best thing to do would be making sure that you are profiting good enough in the long run with easily liquidated assets like stocks or gold or crypto over real estate. Honestly, I believe that real estate is one of the best investments someone can make. There are quite a few alternative options with properties too. It's simple. If we have a lot of money then diversifying is the key. We can invest not only in these two assets but we can also include the others which are not described here. Well understood, but you also sounded like you're seating on the fence, I used the suggestion you made yesterday but I kept reading your message and it seems you'll rather invest in Bitcoin over land.
The sincere truth is, I'm not sure if anyone will easily reject an offer to own both assets if given the opportunity to do so, but the question in this context, was referring to a situation when you have to choose just a single option, regardless of their ups and downs and also know that they're both nice investments. I'm a strong advocate of Bitcoin, but one of my goals is to buy land with Bitcoin. My plan is to have both, as I believe they relate to one another in the sense that one Bitcoin will always be one Bitcoin and a plot of land will always be a plot of land, so you should have both and you should also have Gold.

Much like Bitcoin, a plot of Land will always increase in value. But, it is more resistant to inflation and can provide you with goods and a place to grow food. Bitcoin on the other hand allows you to escape the current and mainstream dependency on banks and protect your money against state censorship. Both have their virtues and their downsides. As the old saying goes, a good investor always tries to have a diversified portfolio, and having these two is crucial.

If I have enough bitcoins, I can definitely sell some off to buy a good land, or buy the land using some of my bitcoins for the transaction, that is making the transaction with crypto . I agree with this, while bitcoin is obviously very useful a property like a house allows you to live in it and have a place to call your own, which is very important, so if someone is faced with this problem and they only have money to get one of them then the correct choice will depend on their particular circumstances at the time, if you are married and you do not have a house already then picking the house is the one that makes the most sense to me, but if you already own a house or you are single then it makes sense to buy bitcoin instead as you do not really need the house at the moment.

Landed property is always a good choice of investment, depending upon the growth happening around the respective property the price will increase. This increase could be even higher than that of the growth with bitcoin in some places. Whenever we make an investment over landed property, we need to get atleast 10% out of the investment every year. This isn't possible with most landed property. You could acquire a portion of land this year at $5k to my local currency, by next one month or two, that same land will be sold for $5.3k even more because the demand is high, the available space is very minimal. But somehow bitcoin can been liken or taken to be seasonally though the prices depends  on bull/bear.
For instance, those who bought at $68k per bitcoin are still shading tears for the serious lost and can only recover whenever we gain another ATH if such persons is not patient enough might ended up selling off, although the real investor will as well sees the bear as an opportunity to maximize his chances of buying and hold more to recover their lost. So is essential to hold to hold the both asset as an investment but basically bitcoin can be considered to be for a long term investment.

It totally depends on law of target country where you buy that land. In some countries its far easy to convert land statuses or just build something on it and get rents/profit etc. But in some countries laws are very hard to pass. In my country as example laws generally protect renter not owner. Sometimes its hard for land owner to generate money through it because of laws. That's why I personally prefer buying Bitcoin to land. Bitcoin is far more liquid anyways.

We all say that land can be exhausted but decades have passed, centuries have passed and there are still land everywhere. In fact where there is no land is being turned to land and there are so many undeveloped areas.
Land is still fixed also bitcoin is fixed at 21 million, so both of them is fixed and can be exhausted according to your ideology.
It is because they are fixed in supply that is what means both of them good option of investment. If you can manage them 50/50 it would be a win-win situation for you in the future.

Being virtual is a big thing that keeps bitcoin usage down. With time people will understand. Even the common man who haven't got much of education about technology have begun to use digital wallets through smartphone. So, they're aware of the virtual usage and aren't prepared to believe something that is virtually available. We're in the transition period and soon this turns to be common.

Good idea but both have different purposes so it's just normal to have them both. Any investors will choose that way even if they say it's safe to invest in Bitcoin but diversifying your money to make a safe investment is a wise choice. Although, the risk is always present but it's the only way I think people can make their money not to get affected by the depreciation.

Still a land property is a good way to make your money grow over the year and Bitcoin investment is somewhat new but it's kinda safe if you know what you are doing.

I couldn't answer this poll because my answer isn't in the answer bank of options.  I wouldn't necessarily want either bitcoin or land over one another, I would and do want both.  When it comes to investing, you need to diversify your assets, and these two assets really have nothing to do with one another.  

Diversification is key, own land, bitcoin, stocks, bonds, precious metals etc etc.   If you need to build a house , you should buy land.  If you're looking for an alternative investment/asset, maybe bitcoin is your answer.

You have a point but still, when it comes to assurance, especially agricultural lands can give you more income if you know how to manage it rather than waiting for the crypto market to rise. When you say about selling it, yes! you are right it's hard to sell land nowadays because of low demand since only a few people can afford it. Not sure this will always prove to be true. Bitcoin's certainly proven to be long-term appreciative, but if you're talking about "faster", I know where I live property has been going up for over a decade, and yes, even slowing down now because of the economy, but still positive. It's of course dependent on location and demand but my neighbour, for example, is selling this year (in a bad economy) at over 130% appreciation from when he bought in 2017.

Use that time-frame and Bitcoin would have been 300%, but only if you caught it for that beautiful brief ATH period.

I really don't think this possible bull run before end of 2023 will recapture ATH.

To be honest with you, I would rather invest in both of them, in as much as bitcoin investment has some edge over investing in landed properties, investment in land can be very profitable too one if lucky enough of find a very cheap one in an area that develop fast.

As a Nigerian, in November 2020, I bought 1 plot of land in my area here for #600k naira, as of now, November 2022, that is 2 years, somebody bidder asked to pay #3m naira for the same land and I refused because I didn't buy the land to sell it...

So land investment can be really profitable just the same way Bitcoin investment is, just be sure to get one in a good area.
So for me, with my experience, I will rather have both, that is invest part of my income on Bitcoin and invest the remaining part on landed properties.. This is a good way to diversify ones portfolio.

Even if the Bitcoin has many advantages over land investment, most of the people int country choose the later for investment. Let me list some reasons for this:
1) Most important thing is mindset. It took years for people to understand that land investment gives very good returns. It is now rooted in the mind of people as their parents used to discuss this in homes, they saw this in news and internet. It is very hard to remove this conditioning and replace land investment with a new form of investment like bitcoin.
2) It might sound ridiculous but people here boast of the properties they own. It is a matter of social status. On the other hand, even if you own a lot of bitcoin or other crypto, no one else will come to know about it. I know the idea to feel proud this way is stupid but we cannot change the way society operates. This is the way people think here.

However, gradually things will change and people here will also understand the benefits of crypto over land investment.

So you are saying that profiting from the Bitcoin bull run can be called "faster dividend of return"? Can't we just call it return of investment (ROI)? Bitcoin isn't a corporation and Bitcoin doesn't pay out dividends to shareholders. That's why using the term "dividend" in one sentence with Bitcoin seems wrong to me.
Anyway, there's no point comparing BTC to investments in real estate. They are just too different.
In my country, the real estate market is going up and that's the only good thing about the place where I live.

It is depending on the place the person is residing. Some people who has not heard about bitcoin in their life will always tell you that landed property is the best. Some people who live where it is very expensive to buy a land will tell you that bitcoin is the best because it affordable.

You've only explained the positive or advantageous side of bitcoin, but mostly you haven't thought of the risk side of it, like, for example, the bear market that is happening right now, and if you already bought bitcoin around $20,000, then I am sure you've lost money. Comparing the two is difficult for me because they both have advantages and disadvantages, so we can't really compare them. For example, land value will increase year after year, but your problem now is finding buyers, and the paperwork takes a long time to process and requires a lot of effort. You can buy bitcoin while you're in bed, but the easier it is to buy, the easier it is to lose your money, so the greater the profit, the greater the risk.

I am in this exact situation. I really would've tried selling my house and lot if not for my mother living with me at the moment. Although my property is located in a developing big city and its value keeps on increasing, I am still optimistic that bitcoin at its current price is a huge opportunity and it will provide me a better and faster return on investment. After many years of experience and observing the market, we seem to have more familiarity with the bitcoin cycle.
