Good day BTT friends I have some questions about windows PC protection - Between Windows OS and Linux OS which one has the best firewall setup and security?
- Can a proper Firewall configuration add more security to crypto software wallets on PC?
- Is there any other ways I can add more protection to a Linux operating system?

I'd say Linux in terms of overall security. As for setups, it depends — can you actually setup Linux well? - Can a proper Firewall configuration add more security to crypto software wallets on PC?
Yes. - Is there any other ways I can add more protection to a Linux operating system?
Nothing specific — just don't be stupid and grant admin privileges to whatever programs; and don't just randomly straight up copy-paste and run commands you see online unless you know for sure they're non-malicious. Also, probably just grab a hardware wallet?

Did you ask two identical questions—perhaps a mistake? Linux's systems are regularly updated, which is important for timely protection. In addition, all actions on behalf of the administrator are password protected, that is, each time you are asked for permission to do this, In addition, you can set up regular password changes for greater security. Even inexperienced users can easily figure out the UFW utility that serves as a firewall. In addition, you can encrypt your physical drives and install the minimum programs that you need. Also, with regard to viruses, Linux is considered the most secure system, since there is an opinion that such systems are less popular. But you should not completely rely on this, since everything always depends on the owner of the device, who is responsible for the cleanliness of the system.

more security to crypto software wallets Linux is supposed to be the safer. But if you don't know very good to setup your OS you will miss something. Even if you know what to do you have a chance for making errors, or not update some vulnerability in time, or whatever. The safest setup is the offline setup. Learn to use cold storage, it can be set up with one USB stick or external HDD if you don't have a spare computer. Just keep in mind that the system should (absolutely) never go online. Or, if you want convenience or you're not tech savvy, just buy a hardware wallet.

Linux is safe, less people are using it, the people that are using it are even people that are conscious about malware and want to avoid. This discouraged hackers, but that does not still mean that there are not malware that are specifically designed for Linux, but better than Windows that have more users and more malware. Is there any other ways I can add more protection to a Linux operating system?
Yourself is the extra protection. What you know about how to avoid malware and online attacks can help you, even if using Windows. You can begin having fun with this: Good topics on security and privacyAvoid ads, visit the official URL, avoid unknown sites, avoid torrents. But more ways to avoid online attacks, you can learn many from the above link.

Linux is best in terms of OS and security, but the problem is that if you are okay with the command line interface mostly, you'll be using the terminal on it, but I think you have already used Linux before. Good day BTT friends I have some questions about windows PC protection - Is there any other ways I can add more protection to a Linux operating system?
There are a variety of ways to add more protection but what I suggest is to be more cautious because no matter what your OS is, Windows or Linux, if you are not cautious in visiting websites, installing apps, or running commands that you did not understand still you be getting penetrated. What I suggest is to read some articles on how to improve your security on what OS you choose and be mindful of what you are doing because that could be an entry point for the attacker

As a W user, I can't say anything bad about this OS, which I've been using through various versions for more than 20 years. Security is always a debatable matter considering that every OS has its own vulnerabilities, so it is always recommended to install every available update, but also to be careful with what we do online.
No matter how careful we are and whether we use a good AV/Firewall, a computer for entertainment should not also be a computer on which we will do something serious related to cryptocurrencies. If we have no choice to separate the two, it is definitely recommended to get a hardware wallet and thus protect yourself from possible malicious threats. Of course, as always, it should be warned that the HW backup is not saved on a computer, e-mail or the cloud, because then we take unnecessary risks.

True that. You can't get infected unless you run those shady apps. I remembered many years back when I was so fascinated by antiviruses/ antispyware I ended up downloading a Trojan and got my PC infected. The irony.

Linux won't safe you from malicious links, there is no form of protection to any PC system that can alert you about the link you are about to click on as a malware, we haven't get to that point yet.
Watch out for malicious links. Do not download files in your mail inbox from unknown senders. Do not download torrents using Utorrent and other torrent downloaders.

Ultimately it is your choice as to which operating system you decide to use. We all have our own preferences and should feel comfortable using the option we choose. While it's impossible to know whether the Windows or Linux OS offers better security, most experts agree that both are secure enough for most purposes. This is especially true if you use common sense when browsing the web and downloading files. But, it's important to remember that security is more than just operating systems. Running a firewall, using a VPN, and running anti-virus software aren't just for crypto users: they're essential tools for anyone with a computer, no matter what operating system you use. In addition, the security of any system is only as good as its weakest link. If you're using an OS that hasn't been updated in years and has tons of security holes, then it doesn't matter how secure your software is. The same applies to running outdated apps on your system: if there's a big security flaw in your browser or Java, for example, then even if you have the most secure Linux distro in the world installed on your machine, hackers can still exploit that weakness and find a way to get into your system. Therefore, it's important to keep your computer up-to-date and secure on all fronts, not just with software but also by keeping an eye on any security vulnerabilities in the operating system itself.

I have been always a windows user and i never tried Linux before, I'm very satisfied with full Kaspersky anti-virus version and never been hacked before or lost any assets by getting hacked. But in my opinion protection of your device is up to your knowledge and the way you prevent the malicious softwares and links Kaspersky comes with a firewall against bad link and risky websites so you will be all safe

Aside all the technical security measures that will be suggested to you to add protection to either your windows or linux, you also need to limit the people you let have access to your PC, it is called a personal computer (PC) for a reason and not public computer (PC). Many users may be nonchalant to your pc's safety and may not be as careful as you not to click anyhow links and download files from the internet. They may even do so and not inform you of their activities online with your pc.

The best protection for your PC is often the one you provide. It may be in the form of preventing your PC from falling, installing anti virus and making it more personal than ever before, by not sharing it with anyone else, by checking sites properly before visiting them, by reading before clicking suspicious messages or ads. I don't think the make/product one uses is reason or security enough. Linux is good and I think unlike window who produce antivirus and other security apps , Linux has too. Regular updates and cleaning out cache files should help as added security to any effort you put in.

Not all AVs are the same as some people think, the differences between some that are free and those that you have to pay for are significant. A good AV not only has an always-updated database of av definitions, but can also recognize most threats using heuristic detection and quarantine such threats. However, if someone is determined enough to do bad things online, sooner or later they will pick up a virus/malware regardless of all possible protection.

Actually I wanted a cracked version of those AVs so I simply downloaded those cracks from dodgy sites, that's how it went down 😅

Never download any cracked software, that's crazy and if you have, I advise you to reset/wipe your PC... Then, just go buy a malwarebytes subscription and leave everything at the default settings until you have done more research on how to properly secure windows. Personally I prefer Linux - Ubuntu has many flavors. Edit - Also, you can always upload anything you download to https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload to check for viruses/malware - It can seriously help but sometimes has false positives, especially with crypto software ofc.

No longer opening those sus files. :p My PC has Linux (Cinnamon) as well but installing things are so bothersome, not to mention the major version updates...

Both Windows and Linux are very similar in function. However, there are differences between them. The main difference is that the Linux firewall cannot block specific ports, while the Windows firewall allows this feature. Another significant difference is that the Linux firewall blocks only incoming connections while the Windows firewall blocks both incoming and outgoing connections. Also, the Linux firewall provides better performance than the Windows firewall because it uses less memory space. However, if you need advanced features like port blocking, then use the Windows firewall.

1. Both Windows and Linux operating systems have good firewalls and security features, but Linux is often considered to be more secure due to its open-source nature and the fact that it is less prone to viruses and malware. 2. Yes, a properly configured firewall can add more security to crypto software wallets on a PC. It helps prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information stored on the device. 3. To add more protection to a Linux operating system, you can implement the following measures: - Keep the system and software up to date
- Enable full disk encryption
- Use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for secure internet connections
- Install security software like antivirus and intrusion detection systems.
