Who are those people that you don't want them to know you are a gambler

I don't really keep it a secret, I just don't talk about it but if someone close to me would open up the topic the I would surely join.
I am not ashamed of being a gambler in the past , it is part of my life and I didn't borrow money to gamble so for me there is nothing to be ashamed of.

I usually don't hide it, my close social circle know what I am doing on spare time and they even ask for tips to make a bet. Well, at work situation is a bit different, I prefer to hide such activities from colleagues for obvious reasons. They may not understand how gambling fun can be controlled without going into debt since majority of my colleagues think it is scam and leads to debt sooner or later. I can keep my secrets, they shouldn't know more about my personal preferences.

I have started keeping my personal life secret because of some bad experiences in life. Now I like speaking less.
And i don't discussion my secret with other people. i have lost so many of my friends - and I don't feel like connecting with them ever again.

Sad to say but closest people to me don't have a clue, and i rather keep it that way. I am pretty sure that they go all judgy on how i can't manage my life, and that would be because of gambling. I would need to assure everyone one by one that i have it under control and i have a system i follow that keeps me safe and not spending all my money. And that i understand the psychology of gambler's fallacy.

I dont have time or energy for those conversations. To me gambling is me-time alone and it relaxes me and loads my batteries way more then any drinking in the bar or bad tv show would.

Do you still gamble or not? You said you were "a gambler in the past". I assume you no longer gamble at this time.  
I agree that we must be honest, no need to be ashamed of our gambling activity if we use our money to gamble. We are also not harming anyone. It is different if we take loan money to gamble, or we use the money for basic necessities/primary needs and our family gets in trouble because the money ran out. If we do this, we must be ashamed of our gambling habit. So, as long as we gamble in a proper way, we don't need to be ashamed and don't need to keep it secret.

I will feel free to let people who does not see gambling as a bad thing know I play bet. But I will always keep it a secret to those who don't fancy gamble. Their is no need showing up a life style to people who will make you feel as you are irresponsible.

luckily in my case i don't need to hide from anyone that i do sports betting and whenever people ask me about gambling i make it a point to clarify to them that i do sports betting just for fun and not with the intention of winning a lot of money, now We have to understand that the reason that I am free to talk to everyone about gambling is due to the fact that in my country, on any street, on all TV channels, newspapers talk about gambling, most people that I see on the streets are betting on the lottery so there is no wrong thinking about gambling so it is easier for me to talk about the sports bets I make on the internet. but if a person lives in a place where people who like gambling are criticized then the ideal is for that person to avoid talking about gambling unless they win a big prize and it is necessary to talk to the family

There’s no need actually to hide your gambling activities if your country is gambling friendly. In fact, people are even invited to gamble in legit casinos. But for some countries that have not accepted gambling completely, and that the people are still sensitive when it comes to gambling, of course I would have to hide my gambler’s identity so that the people will not think of me badly. Like my parents who always tell me to stay away from gambling because it will only ruin my future, so I never have the chance to tell them that gambling is not like that and I am a casual gambler that sometimes made good profits and sometimes lose them too.

Living a lowkey life without the need to think of what others will think about you as a gambler is the best thing. It's not just all about gambling but everything in life.
I guess we all have to practice that kind of living without letting the others know of what we do in our lives because if we're talkative and tell every details of our lives and our activities, it's like letting them invade our privacy.

I wouldn't say it's legal in my country. But it's not illegal in my country for sure.

Although gambling is not illegal, I don't think it makes sense to buzz it in such a way, even though it's not illegal.

The first thing I would like to emphasize is that I would never want my religious master to find out about this habit of mine. Because I respect him and I would never want to talk about such things in front of him.

After that I will always want to hide these things from my younger siblings and parents. Because if children see these things, they will also want to practice secretly which may put them at risk at an immature age.
