I don't think this is the right place for this post? If Yes do tell me the best place for this and I will move it.

I wish users can delete their own posts themselves.

I got better at posting as time goes by and after going back to read how it all started I don't like some of the posts I made when I was still a newbie, how can I delete them and make my activity reduce?

Any repercussions doing this?

Or this are meant for moderators?

I believe this will lessen their stress and doing this themselves?

I think meta is the proper board for this

I wish users can delete their own posts themselves.
do you mean thread/s? because members can delete their own posts except for the thread/s that they created.

I got better at posting as time goes by and after going back to read how it all started I don't like some of the posts I made when I was still a newbie, how can I delete them and make my activity reduce?
I suggest changing your perspective, you should look at it as a reminder of how you improved yourself as you spend more time here in the forum.

There's enough members here with bad histories that having some posts you don't like is probably nothing to react to.

Sure you can delete all posts that aren't topic starters and edit topic starters to "edited" but is it worth it to make your account seem less authentic and more like there's something to hide? A delete all button would be problematic for the forum to have imo too - like if an account gets hacked, a hacker could sabotage it by just pressing a button or two.

I think this was mentioned a few years back as being something that looked like an account had been sold if someone wiped a lot of the old posts - might be something to consider as well as the impossibility of deleting posts here as there are archives of them on other sites.

For the most, you can delete the posts you wish yourself. On some boards you may have to way 24 hours before doing so, although there are some sections where I believe you can’t actually get to delete them (i.e. Archive, Auctions). You won’t be able to delete threads either. For those cases where you can’t delete the post, you can generally edit it and leave it blank.

Having said that, deleting posts can lead to your Activity counter diminishing, and even to your Rank being demoted if you get carried away (see these cases).

Bear in mind that most posts made nowadays are actually scraped and stored on third-party sites, so they are still accessible in a sense.

Usually not an issue. Although, do keep in mind that if you're deleting your posts, and others have quoted them or responded directly to them, that can ruin the conversation a little bit for anyone that reads it in the future.

Most users generally have lower quality posts when you're new, and excited. That's not an issue, and generally no one's going to go through, and criticise you for having lower quality years ago, when you've increased the quality nowadays.

As with anything, you likely care more about your old posts than anyone else on the forum.

Is there any reason why you need to reduce your activity? If you're worried about your chance to get into a campaign, I don't think managers will look at your old posts. Most of the time they will look at your recent post history. If your last 5-10 pages of posts are excellent, I don't think managers or anyone would dismiss you because your activity is too high.

I might be wrong but this user is certainly looking into ranking his account and his kinda of wary that merit sources wouldn't pay attention to his account because its full of Altcoin discussions. I wouldn't blame him for doing so. I actually stopped posting there immediately I read about how snr members regard people posting there as shit posters. And I would say not posting there has helped me rank up easily. I wouldn't say I am quality poster but since I don't post there (except it is moved there ) my post is regarded as decent and I usually get merits for that.

My advice to this user is that he should just focus on improving his post quality and refrain from posting on Altcoin boards frequently and he might get a chance.

Moreover is on a campaign managed by Yahoo(if I am correct), that means he has a strong member that frowns at Altcoin board having faith in him already

Yep, better idea to clean your old posts. The replies are pretty easier from post history but we can't delete the main thread as you learned from the above post. I deleted a lot of my posts once I become mature here. For the main thread, I remove content from the post replaced it with dot, and moved it to the archived folder with a lock. So one can reply there. You may do the same as long as you want to clean your post history.

For real? I had been thinking all along that it was quite impossible to do so, until I came upon this thread. At first, the replies I read almost dissuaded me from staying until I refreshed and saw this post.
You actually did justice by reading the OPs mind. Am quite sure you read a lot of us newbies minds as well.
Cleaning up old posts actually helps one keep track, like a revision of the past work. It also stresses on ones growth over the years considering how long the person must have been on the forum.

I wish users can delete their own posts themselves.
In majority of the boards, users can delete their own post themselves, with only a few exceptions on how long you have to wait to delete them.

I got better at posting as time goes by and after going back to read how it all started I don't like some of the posts I made when I was still a newbie, how can I delete them and make my activity reduce?
That's the normal progress of users. You learn the more you read and contribute, and learning is an unending curve; same way you don't like some of your previous posts now, you might not like some of your current posts soon, but it all shows you're making progress.

Any repercussions doing this?
• Posts gaps in threads and on your profile,
• Potential activity drop.

I might be wrong though but i think he is just trying to filter his previous posts that are not merit worthy, local posts (if ever), and last thing is to prevent others reporting his posts for various reasons. I see this is a thing of other users where as high ranking accounts (sr to hero) yet their posts are too few considering their rank.

You can delete your post/comment if that's what you meant but you can't delete your own thread, I don't know why they set it that way.

Anyway, I think most of us are experiencing this kind of post in the past where we don't know much about of the forum and their rules. Just view it as a stepping stone where you at right now, changing your perspective might change what you are today. You don't have to be perfect when posting stuffs or something it's part of your life and being a perfectionist will take too much effort to go there. Just work your way up consistently and you will find yourself up there.

Have you even tried deleting one? You can actually do that. It's not a function exclusively for moderators.

But why delete? I mean, what's the big deal? Do you have to be so embarrassed of your posts when you were a newbie that you want to delete and forget them? How about you look at it from a better viewpoint and appreciate the improvement you've achieved through the years and ranks?

You still have more posts than activities so deleting some posts does not necessarily mean a reduction of your activity.

I don't really see something bad if you wishes to delete some of your post made earlier but to me it should be for a reference purposes maybe any newbie who is losing hope on how to make a construction post could as well ref to your old and earlier post to know how you started, I think it's one common to everyone who started at the beginning so don't panic over it but rather think to improve the more than just going back to make deletion of your post.
You can always delete your post after 2 days thereabouts if you wish or possibly you may used the report option for instant deletion of post.

OP, you don't have to worry about deleting your posts. If the moderators haven't removed them yet, then your writing style and your posts haven't attracted any reporters, and no one has complained about you. Should you be worried in this case? I also deleted a lot of my posts that were previously in bounty threads. As a beginner, I mistakenly took up bounties and posted a bunch of reports that I later deleted from my history. Bounty reports are littering the forum, and we advise anyone who has them to delete them. Let everything else remain in the history of the forum.

You can, but does it's really worth with your time spend? for me it's not. I need to click every of my post, then I need to click the delete button and then wait until it cleared. Not to mention when you click your post, the topic is already locked and you need to back without doing anything. It's really wasting my time and there's no wrong if you have bad post when you're still a newbie. No one blame your past, it's a part of learning and to grow yourself.

If you delete a few posts now and then when you realize you've mistaken, you've answered something already answered, or somebody else has posted a way better answer than yours (or whatever other reasons), you're OK.
If you delete your own history, or you try to cover the tracks of a deal, well, that's shady and will probably be noticed.

If you're talking about deleting your own thread and it shouldn't be like that cause people can abuse the feature by simply deleting their own thread so all other users also will lose their post but if you feel like you're thread shouldn't be there then simply report your thread to moderator and surely the thread will be deleted if the reason is convincing enough because I did that and it worked for me.

Yes, this is supposed to be available only for moderators so trolls can't mess up.

It's up to the user if he want to delete his post to clean, or let say to straight all his mistake in the past but for me that's not a solution. I will keep all my mistakes, useless post as a remembrance of my self and also to calculate if from my past until now I have improvement or still a learner we all know that we are not perfect but we try our best to so better next.
