There is a pattern to it.  See KYC as well and 90 percent of the 'anti terrorism' laws and regulations they come up with, they are using the same excuses as reasons and with no proof of an actual positive change.  All of these crimes existed before Bitcoin, before Cash and will continue to exist even in the most dystopian world possible where everything is monitored and questioned.  Criminals will just find alternative ways, the innocent will suffer.  Fair, no?

Exactly. Any form of regulation to prevent money laundering, terrorism, illegal activities etc., is an excuse to "protect" the citizens in exchange to a large proportion of their freedom.

“There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.” ― Thomas Sowell.

All of these crimes existed before Bitcoin, before Cash and will continue to exist even in the most dystopian world possible where everything is monitored and questioned.
Even if these crimes stopped to exist; and that's a big if, but if! Does it really worth it? I don't think it does.

Edit: I don't know how I got into the Indian board.

What else can you expect from people who are never went to real school and neither do they have knowledge of any ongoing affairs. All they know is how to fool people to garner votes and come to power. I agree it's convenient for terorists to transact in crypto as they have less chance to get caught but eventually to get real money they have to sell it in fiat, where you can still find them. Along with this anything these days which is non right wing seems to radicalize the youth of this country.

How so?  Cryptocurrency history is immutable and transparent.  Only exception for now is Monero.  How do they have less chances to get caught if every transaction they make is public?  Is it more likely to get caught handing somebody a bag of cash?

Monero is one big exception which is used by them. Also even for the rest of the Cryptos the trail can be established but it's still psuedononymous you cannot predict or find the owner of the address just by looking at the address. so if there is not fiat conversion it's hard to catch them, these people may also use mixers to break the established trail of the Cryptos. So obviously it's not that easy to catch them.

yes, this is exactly what i think.

even if ur able to transfer millions of dollars worldwide without anyone knowing.

the moment u go to convert it to fiat u will get caught, if u acquired the crypto with illegal means ie..

other than that crypto is just a cheap mode of payment without depending on third parties who charge a lot of money to transfer funds overseas.

the real problem is banks/financial-institutions who aid these criminals in washing their money.

like that lady in dubai? i think.. who bought a bank and then laundered millions of dollars.

but still they see no problem with the banks because it is a part of their corrupt system.

Banks obviously can't be a problem because they are their extended arms into the people's pockets, they use banks to put or take away as much money as they want from the system thus controlling the system in the way they want. Also with stringent KYC, SFT norms, etc. banks are almost obliged to share each and every things that happened in a customer's account if requested by any of the government's departments. Cryptos on the other hand don't give them this luxury, this is why they have even brought their own version of it.

Only a clueless government will attribute cryptocurrency to supporting terrorism. A government that wants to blame cryptocurrency but lacks the resources to combat terrorism before the time memorial. It's just funny.

Crypto is a traceable open-source technology. No transaction made on it that can't be traced. That's what the governments fail to understand. They are merely looking for ways to stigmatize cryptocurrency and disguise their incapacity to combat and eliminate terrorists.

Don't mind and move on! Sometimes we found such morons in our life and we just need to ignore them. Our honorable FM doesn't have the brain power to understand cryptocurrency and it's underlying technology at all. She also doesn't have the capacity to understand the economic situations. She is just a puppet of PM Modi. So it's not her fault as well. She is being ordered to create confusion.

It can't be denied that cryptos can be easily used for such illicit activities. But throwing the responsibility purely on crypto is a stupidity.

I will ask one simple question to break this myth.

Cryptocurrency is being used to radicalize youth - "by whom" ?

Who are those people that are using cryptocurrency to radicalize youth ?

Talking about bitcoin, it is decentralized and every person holding bitcoin is holding it by choice.
Nobody is forcing them to use bitcoin and in fact most of the people hold cryptocurrencies by choice.
So where does this point come from that it is being used to radicalize youth ?
Such politicians just make these statements when either they don't about it or they want to save their back from it.

Not only this i am surprised to see even RBI governor today mentioned that next economic crisis will be because of Cryptos, which is surprising, we are already in the track of an economic crisis due to faulty policies from government and macro economic factors but now they are trying to put the whole blame on Cryptocurrency ecosystem which is pretty surprising to me.

Youth are not becoming radicalized by cryptocurrency. The majority of young people are against fiat money now that they are aware of its dirty little secret.

Pandora Cash is the bitcoin killer

I wonder if they ever say something positive about crypto? Did they ever mentioned about Naiwal's crypto covid relief fund?

You can trace crypto transaction to it's source, cash is anonymous than that.
