It depends on your current hashing speed.  I am using Deepbit because they solve blocks at an amazing rate, so I get paid much faster.  It all depends on your preference.

Let's make it clear: bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme. Mining can be profitable, depending on the bitcoin price, but will not make you millionaire any time soon, and is only an aspect of bitcoin.

Maybe you should get a part-time job to pay it off, instead of stealing the money from your parents.

Stealing imply something illegal.

His parents are allowing him to use his computers and they pay the bills for that. So how the hell is this STEAL? go troll elsewhere  Roll Eyes

I'm betting they aren't aware he's converting their electricity into bitcoins, possibly at a net loss.

Well at least his room will be warmer.

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

"Downloading and playing games" and leaving your computer on isn't the same thing as intentionally running your electric bill even higher, in order to mine bitcoins, which in the end are worth less than the electricity used to mine them.  Have a little respect for your parents, they gave up a lot to raise children, don't need to steal from them.

And vindication means he was right.

Nonsense

Their parents are allowing him to use the computers AND put no restrictions on HOW to use it. So, as long as he use it in a legal way, he can do what he want with it.

It is not stealing if he tells his parents exactly what he is doing "I am going to run my computer and video card all the time so I can make a few Bitcoins to play with.  It is going to noticeably increase your electricity bill.  Is that OK with you?"  If they say yes, and they might because it is somewhat educational and does keep him from playing those stupid games all the time, then the problem is solved.

If my daughter asked me to do this the first thing I would ask her is "Exactly how much is it going to raise my electricity bill?"  And then I would tell her if she could figure it out correctly then I would let her.

So blabla, can you calculate exactly how much this is going to raise your parents electricity bill?
