Did I just throw away 200$ ?

I made a grave mistake today and it was because of binance news, I went online and saw a tweet on Twitter about how danger is lurking around the Binance exchange right now and I was told to move whatever funds I have on Binance out.

I did this, I sent 200$ from Binance to Huobi exchange because I want to buy a coin that was available only on Huobi anyways but I sent USDT to the BSC chain on Huobi which unfortunately was suspended.

Now I tracked the Bsc address on Huobi the USDT was moved, is there any chance of getting my money back or it's a gone.

I think that you made a bit of a mistake why don't you just move it to a non-custodial wallet, I know about the news that many even say that 200 million dollars have been withdrawn from the Binance exchange with the current issue, maybe with assets suspended from the exchange Huobi and the exchange already knew that the asset was flowing from Binance so they suspended it, one might have to contact support to ask about this issue.

It's because OP is buying a token that on Houbi is catering. The mistake that OP is mentioning is he didn't checked that the token OP is depositing is currently suspended on Houbi. Its unfortunate to make this kind of mistake, The only hope for OP is to contact Houbi about his situation if the token he deposited is still recoverable since I believe it is deposited in their hotwallet. Houbi is probably doing maintenance with their hot wallet that's why it's being move but yeah I'm not a 100% sure about it. The best thing you can do is to ask them and wait for their response.

There’s a lot of FUD about exchanges right now, but it doesn’t mean you need to panic as well. If you transfer on a wrong network then that is a costly mistake and its hard to recover that funds again not unless Huobi will grant your request since your funds is with them already. You have to be more careful next time and make sure to check the exchange if the deposit option is available before making any transactions.

this is the best option right now, let the huobi's support know about your deposit problem. just straight to the point that you haven't checked the current situation of the USDT (BSC) in their platform. because if you won't notify them about your situation, they may not take care of your situation. there's still a chance to recover as once they resume the tx for this network, they will still receive your funds.

sometimes exchanges are in the maintenance mode. in this case the USDT (BSC network) in huobi is in suspended mode. it means, they may be doing some maintenance or other related activities.

the only relevant answers would be coming from the exchange huobi themselves, maybe it is in maintenance, and eventually once it settles your usdt will be credited in your account but at the end of the day the only one that could resolve this might be huobi themselves, i think you should contact them just in case.

Yes, they are the only ones that would really be able to help out  since they do hold off those funds since it was been deposited on the chain which isnt supposed to be BSC.
I dont know if they would be allowing some retrieval of those mistake deposits or would really be just saying that those funds are gone(hopefully not).
This is why its really important that you should really be that making out some checking before making some pressing that withdrawal button.
Make everything to be fine before proceeding so that you wont really be ending up on having a headache like this.

Contacting huobi is the only the way for you to get back your money. There's no other way than it. I thought that huobi has access to your funds but since huobi BUSD deposit was getting maintenance and then you need to confirm whether your funds will be credited in your wallet after the deposit will be resumed or not.

Some things that you can do that to make your problem even more easier to be solved are

1. Try to join huobi global telegram group and then you can start a conversation regarding your problem with admin (be careful with scammer)
2. Send a ticket about your problem.

I hope that your problems will be solved as soon as possible. $200 might be a lot for you.

There's a lot of FUD continuing to spread right now regarding Binance, verify it first before making such action.
My question is, why did you send it directly on the exchange, not to your custodial wallet?

Here's might what you do because I've used Houbi once and I know it takes time before it will be credited to your account.
Reach their support, the comment above was right, I PMed their admin on Telegram but make it sure that's the admin, you can ask publicly on their group.
Send a ticket to their support regarding your transaction.

So sorry to hear this. This can be a very worthy lesson that doesn't panic too much when facing any FUD and negative news. So that it will actually make us not focus on doing something, in making decisions. Panic will also make us lose money (more), indeed it is necessary to be vigilant, but not panic. Always be careful about it.

Have you tried contacting Huobi CS regarding this matter? Maybe this is a bit difficult, but there's nothing wrong with trying to contact their CS. Who knows if there is a way out? And even if there isn't, then you can get certainty whether you can get it back or not, instead of continuing to wonder.

Exchanges can periodically suspend deposits due to wallet maintenance, coin delisting, etc. and the warnings are usually displayed when generate a deposit address. If you just send directly, you will only realize when it's too late.

That's not 100% OP's fault. He didn't know if the network on huobi was on maintenance. Huobi's support must help him as it's their customer money.

OP, you were got FUD about binance, why you should worry about the FUD? If binance gone, almost all crypto will gone as well.

Then if Huobi just was on the maintenance during the deposit of OP, and did use the correct chain and deposit address ( as long as Huobi supported the BSC chain for USDT) then all good.
OP just needs to wait for the maintenance to be done.
Maybe the purpose of maintenance is when you deposit while maintenance the deposit will not appear on your Huobi wallet for a span of time.

Huobi has a terms about using wrong address that you can read below.

7.Wrong address: Due to personal filling in errors, withdrawal of digital assets to the wrong address, resulting in irrecoverable assets;

This mean there's no way for you to recover your coins especially when it's because of your fault and they already wrote in their terms. $200 is just a peanut for them, I don't think they would take care if you make a complaints, many people are lose higher than you but their coins still can't get recovered.

Yes I have learnt my lesson and it's not going to happen again, I have contacted the team and they gave me a form to fill with three video requirements, Tx hash and my full name written on a piece of paper with my signature on it, still waiting for their final move

I hope you can get your money back even if it's your own mistake by filling out the form that has been given support for this content hopefully it will be a bright spot for your suspended assets, despite what Jawhead999 mentioned from "Huobi terms and conditions that can not be restored" but I think you still have hope for the future.

Sometimes this is often ignored by them even though not all support is the same, I once knew this and it happened to my friend with the wrong case of sending USDT but the exchange did not receive the BCS network and was forced to lose it even though they had contacted support several times with several different requirements given.

What you are doing is a mistake caused by inattentiveness. You get consumed by FUD and $200 is a huge amount for me. In addition, you are currently suspended for not being careful and checking your wallet address properly. I think this kind of case happens a lot to newbies who rush to send tokens to different chain addresses and the result is always bad.
