So, we will see new regulations coming in through the following months. Usually, regulation comes at a price and is more damaging than the other way around. I just hope that it isn't regulation that could stifle innovation and slow down the industry to a freezing point.

I think what should be more important is the punishment for scammers and not just the legislation for what they should do but how it must be mandatorily retrieve the money of investors. The FTX exchange scam is one too many that investors lost huge money that is not traceable or gotten back. Regulation is good but it has to be strong enough to punish scammers.

Almost all the laws in every country has stipulated punishment that should be given to anyone that is involved in scam related activity, so any regulation they are bringing up should be a regulation that will be able to stop scam from happening again and how to get back investors money and not for punishment of scammers.
If you are caught of scamming someone or a group of people you will be charged to court and when you are being found guilty of the offense you will be sentenced according to the law however the exact penalty depends on the type of scam and the law under which the person is charged.

I got your point, you mean it should not end at the punishment alone but it has to fully do with fully re-covering the amount being scammed, then trying to make sure that scam itself is put that an end, I think stoping scam totally is not easy, it takes time to stop because scammers are upgrading on daily bases, how the get to the level they are no one knows, unless the government will have to tell us howfa they have gone to put a stop to scam.
All of this things is about the government dedication to making sure that any form of scam is been trace to where ever is coming from but to be sincere all of this requires more to what we see, athough the laws are made open and that is why the government does not joke with anything that is related to scam.

I think the government alone cannot stop all the scams, they just don't have that infrastructure. As you have said the hackers and the scammers uses advance ways to scam people and they don't leave traces to get caught, specially when it comes to the online world.

But still, if those who got caugght are givne server punihsment publically, that can bring fear amoung scammers too and some of them may stop all these scams and become a better citizen. Also we need to play our part too in getting aware of not getting phished / scammed by them. If we are aware that there are online scams that exists around us, awareness can also save us from them.

The methods of deceiving people haven't really changed for centuries; only the technology has. Read some information about call centers in Myanmar and interviews with people who escaped and described what goes on there. It's so profitable that an entire state with its own army has been built just for it.
