The price of bitcoins is already starting to head back up. If you're planning on buying bitcoins, now is the time to do it. I seriously doubt you will be able to get them this cheap for a long while.

More people are joining the network and the next difficulty will be around 82,000. That will make getting bitcoins more difficult and make each bitcoin worth more. Same supply, greater demand.

I agree. Bitcoin is getting much media attention at the moment, and the rate+reach of news seems to be accelerating. Time to stock up on BTC.

how do i buy at a reasonable price?  i looked at Mt.Gox and he wants a 7% commission on Paypal transactions which is ridiculous!  i wish to make a large buy too.  anyone interested in selling to me directly?
People usually charge more at PayPal orders because of fraud risk (stolen credit card, chargebacks). You have better options with non-chargeback payment methods like Liberty Reserve, Bank Transfers, mail etc.

Just saying, if you had bought bitcoins on Mt. Gox at 11 o-clock today and sold it now you would have made 10 cents per bitcoin. almost 20% gain for a 6 hour investment.

Blitz,

i'm happy to pay for BTC in any form one wants.  where do i find reasonable prices and easy transactions?  i want to make a large buy.
I think it’s best to check out the other deposit options on MtGox or come to #bitcoin-otc on freenode, which is an over-the-counter exchange. Or buy directly in the Marketplace forum, of course.

How much do you want to buy approximately?

Try doing that with anything more than $1,000 though and you would probably lose money.

Yes, good news that the price seems to be going up!

I just wish I'd predicted the downturn before buying a bunch of BTC, literally the day before it happened... would have been better for the finances and the blood pressure.

I predicted the break towards 0.5 on my technical analysis.

However, there is not yet the chance to do stop loss trading on any BTC exchange, which is making it impossible for people like you to protect against losses.

This is what I meant in other threads: We need more professional exchanges, offering the proper instruments and tools.

What are you talking about? There is an API on mtgox and you can make a bot that does stop loss trading and everything you can imagine. An API is quite uncommon for small investors on "professional markets".

BitcoinMarket v2 supports stop-loss orders.

yes, if only there were significant volumes.

There need to be stop loss orders possible on the big exchange MtGox for "Average Joe" who does not even know what a bot is.

There are some pretty serious buy orders on #bitcoin-otc at the moment.

chaord    100000.0    btc    0.5    USD
MacRohard    25000.0    btc    0.41    USD
lyspooner    500000.0    btc    0.3    USD

Total US$ 210250.00 in bids.. all well below the current mtgox prices though. :/
