We have just a few days to Christmas, so I guess now, it's Okey if we start wishing everyone a happy Christmas in advance.

This is a season when we all need money for various expenses like buying children Christmas apparels, shoes and anything that will make them look good.
Buying stuffs for ourselves to probably show off to neighbors, family and friends how wealthy we are and all that.
Spending lavishly on food and drinks that might end up perishing the next day if everything is not consumes in 24 hours or less..

We need money for several stuff this festival period, yeah, but it is a simple advice I've got for the crypto community which you are part of, Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.

Christmas comes and in 24 hours, it's gone, Bitcoin is here and will remain with you for as long as you keep, we definitely will sell it one day, but we all know that now is not the right time to sell.

If you sell your bitcoin to maybe buy new set of clothes and shoes, you threw away your bitcoin because, in three months time maybe, you probably will Not be wearing those clothes and shoes anymore..
Why then lose your Bitcoin for items that perishes in such a short time?

This probably is not a topic for Bitcoin discussion, maybe Beginners & Help.

If you sell your bitcoin to maybe buy new set of clothes and shoes, you threw away your bitcoin because, in three months time maybe, you probably will Not be wearing those clothes and shoes anymore..
Why then lose your Bitcoin for items that perishes in such a short time?
Firstly, I have clothes and shoes I've been wearing for years now and they are still in good condition, I think I'll still be wearing something I got three months ago,
Secondly, people are allowed to enjoy things. Investing, of course takes time and patience, in addition to understanding of the market; one should know when to buy and when to sell.
If you need to take some profits to enjoy the festive season, by all means do so, have fun and enjoy the holidays with family.

I think we’re all allowed to chill a bit and enjoy ourselves, at least for the Christmas holidays. During this festive period, we exchange gifts and try to spread joy and cheer to family, friends and everyone around. And if that means letting go of a few satoshi to achieve that, I personally don’t see anything wrong in that.
You’re right on the fact that the Christmas Day is just a 24 hour period and then it’s gone. All the more reason to cherish, chill and make merry, isn’t it?

I’d rather eat yellow snow than sell bitcoin to pay for Christmas presents. Not long until Christmas now so Happy Xmas to you OP & all on the forum. I haven’t been preparing well to be honest, I have been struck down with a bad case of man flu, I’m on day four now. I’ll be better by Christmas though, I have a beast of a turkey to enjoy Cheesy

As I do every Xmas I have printed off & funded bitcoin paler wallets for my loved ones. As far as I am aware they HODL every year & are yet to sell going back many years.

Xmas is a great time of year, a special time to spend with people you love. Please have the best one possible.

Yeah, you are absolutely right mate, I never said peeps shouldn't enjoy their Christmas, but personally, I don't think doing so at the expense of selling their bitcoin at a loss is really advisable, watching Bitcoin's performance this year, I can tell you that not very many persons are in profit, except those that have been holding since 2015 or earlier, any body that bought bitcoin beginning from eleven(11) months ago till yesterday is probably not in profit (and I am not talking about day traders), this is why I said in the op that we all know they now is not the best time to sell bitcoin, except you choose to sell at a loss, that's your decision, your bitcoin is your bitcoin and no body has a right to decide what you do with it for you.  Grin

Generally, Christmas presents are not something I find a pleasure about.  While Christmas itself is a very cozy holiday, I always feel like I am wasting money on useless stuff when buying presents and I always feel like others are wasting money on presents for me.  The idea is not bad, but in practice most of us spend without much sense if any at all.

I would be much happier knowing I gave some body a hundred bucks and they bought what ever they really needed or invested in Bitcoin or other commodities.  Now that you know my view, you can imagine I would never spend Bitcoin to purchase myself some presents I do not need.  If all my clothes were worn out and really needed new shoes but had no more Fiat on me, maybe.  But the money I invested?  It should continue to be used carefully, not spent away on things just to have a mental pleasure for five seconds then forget about it.

Happy Xmas to you too. I must confess your opening line cracked me up  Grin. can’t stop laughing. As much I want to have fun and unwind this festive period I wouldn’t trade my bitcoins for a few days of pleasure. Festive periods come and go, it will be foolish of me to spend so much money trying to look good for Xmas or any such celebration. I have been inspired by recent activities on the forum, and I think dedicating my time to teach at least one person bitcoin would be a great way to sign off the year.

Christmas is becoming more and more a commercial and capitalist season and a time of excess
and with it brings financial pressures on a lot of people to spend and buy unnecessary items.

While it's traditionally a season on good will and generosity we should be mindful of
over spending on unnecessary items and squandering precious Bitcoin.

when pandemic hit this humanity, i guess a lot of us figured out what things are important to us. so i believe a lot of people are not into spending habits anymore but taking care of their top priorities in life. or should i say, diverting their extra funds to something important that can help them survive in any type of crisis. but of course, some people still celebrate. you can observe such festive mood when you enter the malls and shops. but for most of us, this holiday season comes and goes, much better take care of necessary things that you think can help you when everyone is shutting their doors from you.

Nothing to prepare for Christmas, for me it is just a waste of money preparing for such things.  I just do my usual stuff, wake up, thank God for a great new day then go back to what I normally do, browsing the forum, checking the market for possible discounted cryptocurrency in sale, if there is a visitor then will entertain them but I wish there is none though so that I can go back to my normal activities.

Anyway, to those who celebrate Christmas, Have a merry Christmas to all of you.  (just for your information:  some Christians are offended when someone greets people with words written in Xmas than Christmas because for them they think, Xmas is factoring out Christ who is the true center of the celebration.

That's actually a thing? Those snowflakes.

Actually it's an abbreviation of Christmas.

In the early days of the Christian church, Christians used the letter X as a secret symbol to indicate their membership in the church to others. If you know the Greek meaning of X, Xmas and Christmas essentially mean the same thing: Christ + mas = Christmas

If you have other income, it's better not to use your bitcoins for Christmas celebrations, but that's up to you and your rights, and there's nothing wrong with just using a little as needed or just as an extra to celebrate.
the market is still not friendly to use for things that are not too important and it is still good for us to make purchases, and also don't rely too much on bitcoin or other crypto to celebrate something even though it is important, apart from investing, we must also have savings for urgent needs including celebrating something without using up your investment that will be more profitable in the long run.

and it's all up to you and one more time. It's better not to use it and even if you have to, just do it as needed and as needed to celebrate Christmas.

I understand that I could be wasting my coins which I will profit more if I hold.
it's the feeling and the initiative you give gifts to your kids that matter. When you're a father, you wouldn't really mind spending the coins to make them feel they are loved well by their father.

The other day I bought my daughter an earring made of silver, sort of a music note design, and a new ukulele. I would hope she'll remember me this way forever and that I give importance to what she likes doing which will last forever.
What do you recommend buying for our kids that will not deteriorate in years?

Why then lose your Bitcoin for items that perishes in such a short time?
When someone starts adopting bitcoins as a means of payment, then what's wrong with them spending their bitcoin to pay for something?
I don't know what your idea really is, and I think bitcoin is not only about investment but bitcoin is also used as a means of payment. Don't you think that's normal?

But whatever it is, you have the right to be a holder for your bitcoin and never spend them in the long term. We are here hoping that bitcoin is adopted more, so it should become a means of payment so that it is safe to spend their bitcoin regardless of their current price. So it's just about mindset and about what bitcoin means to you in the financial system.

We don't celebrate Christmas and there is still 3 months (92 days to be exact) left to New Year Cheesy
However, we do celebrate Chelle Night (aka Yalda) which is tomorrow night and is much older and is what some of the Christmas traditions were borrowed from like the lights you guys put on the Christmas tree. We've already prepared for it by purchasing a ton of fruits, nuts and sweets but I didn't have to sell bitcoin to buy any of it though! The shops don't accept bitcoin payments either, which is unfortunate since I would have loved to pay with bitcoin.

It's strange to me if someone has some kind of significant amount in BTC, and they won't allow themselves anything for Christmas and New Year just because the price of Bitcoin is so low compared to the last ATH. Christmas is once a year, life is too short to hold back all your life and wait for a new opportunity that may never come.

I'm not saying we should act like drunken millionaires and spend like there's no tomorrow, but don't hold back on some basic things because "it's not the right time to sell Bitcoin".

Don't use your Bitcoin to buy presents? So don't use Bitcoin for an activity it was meant for?

It's Christmas, you scrooge! I gave away Bitcoin to 2 couples already (one a festive gift, one celebrating a newborn) and they think it's really cool, even though it's just a small amount. And no, not bragging, just remembering how I often benefited from Bitcoin generosity in the past.

If price does go up and these guys still hold, they're happy, and I'm happy.

It's bloody Christmas! haha

A pretty good piece of advice, I agree that we should not waste bitcoins on unnecessary things. But in my opinion, there is nothing wrong if we sell our bitcoin to serve life, especially big holidays like Christmas or new year. We invest in bitcoin for a more stable economy, and a better life, so spend bitcoin wisely. We have worked hard for a long year and the end of the year is the time for us to relax and enjoy life, don't make it difficult for yourself or be too strict with life. Bitcoin is worth nothing if it doesn't help us.

Its not bad to celebrate Christmas with friends and family, but it would be unacceptable to go the extra mile just to satisfy these wants. It is not also wrong to sell some of your investment if it is necessary or important to do that for the sake of this season. But it would not also be nice if your reason for doing that is just to showoff or compete with other people.

The best advice still remains that you buy what you can afford and ensure that you don't borrow or take a loan because you want to celebrate like others. In my location, there is always high rate of crime this period because people want to spend like others. For me I am not spending on clothing or other accessories, I have to mange the ones I have now because I cannot afford such expenses. Maybe next year would be better.

We need money for several stuff this festival period, yeah, but it is a simple advice I've got for the crypto community which you are part of, Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.

If anyone sells their Bitcoins for these stuffs, then he will be the most foolish person I have ever met on Earth. I mean how expensive will be those expenses? Hardly 100$?(In my country 100$ will be sufficient to enjoy and celebrate Christmas), now for this if you selling 100$ worth of Bitcoins, then it’s not just only 100$, it’s the precious Bitcoins which you are selling from your own wallet and which are fixed in number. Instead you can take a short term loan if you really need the money and celebrate Christmas. We are about to get skyrocket in the price of Bitcoins. So don’t make mistakes and sell your Bitcoins.

That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think? I wouldn’t equate foolishness to willingly letting go of some few satoshi to buy what would make you, family and friends be merry and filled with cheer especially on this festive season.
We’ve got just one life and we’ve got to cherish and enjoy the time we’ve got with friends and family. Lots of people are busy all year round and haven’t got time to chill, relax and spend time with friend and family.
We should cherish and enjoy whatever time we’ve got and letting go of some satoshi to make people happy in my book, isn’t foolishness.

Bitcoin must be in circulation, nothing can stop people from selling and buying. When they're no cash available we are compelled to settle bill with our coins. Its a festive period and people expect all sorts of Gifts from loved ones. I've started celebrating Christmas with family 7 days ago, shared gifts to my nieces and family. I don't think giving should be limited to a specific period like 25th and 26th. Give as much as you could, generosity yields more fortune when done the right way. OP I think your advise should be focused on; buying bitcoin when we've got extra money after spending so much for Christmas.

I am not a Christian but I will say that there are many people who are totally dependant on Bitcoin and they have to sell their crypto and also Bitcoin so that they might be able to give gifts and also do some charity to the people who are needed. And that is there most beloved event. That's the reason we see some decline in Bitcoin and also crypto.
By the way Bitcoin is a crypto that will remain until the whole world is living and people will still hold it until their last breaths.

Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.

When I was in school, Gobseck by Honoré de Balzac was a mandatory reading. It's a story about a wealthy man who died without spending any of his wealth and living a very frugal life. It's a reminder that people should also enjoy the present and not live only for the future.

If you're even denying yourself a Christmas, then what sort of memories are you creating? Years from now you might look back and realize that you wasted your best years not doing anything, only waiting for Bitcoin to go up. And worse, when Bitcoin does go up, people often fail to take profits and then wait for the bull cycle again.

There can't be any objective rule for managing your Bitcoin investment, because value and time preferences are subjective. In some cases it could indeed be a bad idea to sell Bitcoin to buy a Christmas gift, in other it is not.

I see what your overall theme here is and I think it's a good reminder to simply be smart with your money, and to not waste it.  But keep in mind some people are going to have to spend their bitcoin whether they really want to or not.  I would sure love to be able to keep all the bitcoin I own in-tact and never spend it, but unfortunately sometimes I have to.  However I think your main point here is just to not needlessly waste your bitcoin on stuff that you're not going to care about in a very short period of time.

Buying presents for Christmas is IMO not at all about showing off wealth to neighbours, but about helping to make some people happy, even if a little bit. I'm not a supporter of overspending, but I also think it's very wrong when well-off parents give no presents or very cheap presents to their children because children need to be loved and cared for. Also, some things can actually last for a long time and be of high significance in various relationships, and sometimes people need to sell their BTC not to buy expensive presents but to buy any presents for their loved ones. So I believe people should first and foremost treat Bitcoin as money and money should be spent when there is a need to spend it or when spending it can lead to positive improvements of someone's lives.

Also had Gobseck as obligatory reading at school, and totally agree with your point.

Well, OP is trying to say that you should not spend your BTC on some temporary things that comes and go. I agree on that part, but what if someone is in need of something that they need badly? Should they not sell their BTC if this is their last resort?
I think if they have bought BTC and holding them, then they have the right to use it however they wish to. Christmas is about celebrating the holiday &  spreading happiness. If you hold the BTC, and it grows in the future, but you may not get this holiday with your family if they are gone someday.
Enjoy the life while you can. Money will come and go. But once a person is gone, you will never get them back.
I am not saying that you spend all on useless thing, just buy what you need to have the best Christmas.

Christmas is a period of sober reflection to our dear Baby Jesus. It is the period he was born to the world to save the mankind. It is a period of jubilation and it is not also a period of jubilation. It is the period of jubilation in the sense that, the savior of the world was born and it is not a period of jubilation because birthday celebrations in the holy Bible was celebrated and humans were killed. John the Baptist was also killed in a birthday celebration.

This is the period of love, giving happiness. What will you give in this Christmas? Show love...

Christmas is spending based. Spend some time with your friends, have a dinner with your family, buy yourselves some presents, take a break from bitcointalk.  Tongue

But the money I invested?  It should continue to be used carefully, not spent away on things just to have a mental pleasure for five seconds then forget about it.
You're lucky if you're happy with the way of living you describe. I'm not a consuming monster, but I don't do well if I don't do some pleasure to myself and my relatives once in a while. Especially if I know I make more money than them. Careful spending is important, but Christmas-- and holidays in general, is this time of the year where you gotta be more reckless, for the sake of your health.  Smiley

it depends on each individual to sell bitcoin only to buy needs at Christmas time or prefer to hold bitcoin but not wear new clothes etc.
if someone has a target and is consistent to always hold bitcoin, will not sell until the price is really high, chances are that in any situation that person will continue to hold it regardless of any situation at that time.
but if someone who buys bitcoins without having high and consistent targets, it is likely that on Christmas Day he will sell some bitcoins to celebrate Christmas.
for me actually if you still have clothes or pants that are still good and suitable for use at a Christmas party it is better to use old clothes or pants than having to sacrifice assets just to buy things that are not too important.
say maybe on Christmas this year have a party with simplicity but when in the next few years when the bullish comes the price of bitcoin goes up high, you can sell it at a high price and get big profits and you can live Christmas with all the luxury that you earn from investing in bitcoin.

Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.

just shows how delusional people have become in this community .

and you want bitcoin to replace currency ?
what a joke .
it seems all you care is your riches , and this probably 90% of bitcoin community , unfortunately .

bitcoin will fail for many reasons ,but the main one will be peoples GREED .

go ahead and stair at the graph , all day long instead of enjoying christmas .

It is okay to spend bitcoin if you really want to, that's how it should be for us to spend it. I've already bought my stuff and for the kids that might ask me for some money but it isn't that much.
I've got a fewer budget than several years ago, you know the pandemic and inflation thing. It's different for this year but I just hope that whoever receives these things from me will still be happy despite how low-valued they are and I hope they will understand my situation. Because I've experienced giving before and a few complained on how few I've gave and that urged me to stopped being generous.

We buy gifts because we want to do something good for our loved ones. But please don't forget that there are also many people who are not well. Once a man, twice a child!

Other than the harmattan usually experienced during the Christmas period, nothing seems to be special for me now as a grown-up man. In my growing up days, it used to be a time for celebration and that was because my Dad made it so, spending unnecessarily. Now that I've my kids, I'm a bit circumspect. My kids know there's nothing that can be done on December 25th they don't get the opportunity of doing on any other day; food and whatever. In fact, I've made it a tradition to stay indoors on Christmas day. It's because of the crave of people to overdo things around the festivity that has made me take a contrary approach, treating Christmas like a regular period.

The decision to buy or sell Bitcoin should be based on both your own situation and the factors that are most important to you. By considering both, you can make an informed choice and know how to proceed. In the end, the decision to buy or sell Bitcoin should be based on your individual circumstances and financial goals. Some people may choose to sell some of their Bitcoin in order to use it to buy gifts or other items for the holidays, while others may prefer to hold onto their Bitcoin in the hope that its value will increase over time. Whatever your plans, I wish you all a merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a happy New Year!

Some days of human life should not be measured with money.  I agree with your words because money may come and go in life but some moments once lost from life will never come back.  What is once lost in the stream of time can never be regained.  Bitcoin and other currencies may come and go in your life but Christmas Day comes once a year.  Let's all blow ourselves up next Christmas Day regardless of Bitcoin's current market conditions.  May the life of every human being be full of joy and prosperity.  Happy Christmas Day to all Bitcoiners.

I've come across so many other threads where people preach against the sell of Bitcoin  regardless of whether in profit or not.
Most people really don't get the concept of investment, especially with relationship to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. The moment you're holding a coin and you've made enough profit to have possibly satisfied your greed and pleased your heart, I strongly advice that you should atleast get it's capital off the market to avoid emotional attachment while holding.
This is a festive season and though holding is a gift, I think if the only means we have to celebrate this season is to sell some part of our holdings then I see nothing wrong with that but in all you do, always remember to have some more savings to fall back to.

I’m not against using bitcoin as a payment method, I completely support the use of bitcoin to pay for goods and services. It’s the purpose of bitcoin as a currency afterall. I just do not think selling bitcoins in bear market to spend on Christmas is a smart decision. Tbh I think Christmas is a business not a religious holiday as originally intended, it’s the largest economic stimulus in the world. They do it every year so they can sell their merchandise. Christmas generates trillions of dollars every year and I would prefer not to add my bitcoins to the statistics.

I don't think it's a bad idea withdrawing or exchanging some Bitcoin to fiat and spend it on Christmas stuffs if there isn't any alternative source of income, this is yelutide season which is synonymous with giving out some gifts to our love ones, to the poor and gifting Christmas hampers etc. Christmas it's only celebrated once in year it's a joyous occasion celebrated globally, thus this is not about throwing some Bitcoin away, but taking out some bit for personal enjoyment and merriment after working throughout the year, Merry Christmas 🌲 in advance to forum members.

Gifts are bought and shared among friends and family during the festive holidays. Money is spent during these times to make merry and spread joy and cheer to family and loved ones.
In my opinion, you can’t put a price on the smiles, joy and happiness generally felt during these festive season and that’s why people cherish the time spent with family and friends.

I think we should all spread joy and cheerfulness whenever we could and not just only during the festive season. Always try to put a smile on someone’s face. It could put a smile on yours as well.

As every year, I used to acquire and keep a small amount of Bitcoin to celebrate New Year's Eve always with my family
This year, I decided that it would be an exceptional celebration, since it is my first year away from the family home, and the atmosphere of the family celebration is the same as every year. I agreed with a group of friends from other provinces to camp in the desert on New Year's Eve.
All I wish for this evening is that the prices will improve in the crypto market so that I can sell Bitcoin at a better price. I bought this milligram of bitcoin and saved it when the price of bitcoin was over $30,000 and today it is less than half of that amount.

Yes, People will spend money on Christmas but more smarter people will use the fiat money and not sell their bitcoins at the current prices.
I think it is not wise to spend and sell bitcoin now when the price is near its very low. You can save your bitcoin now and get good returns later in the bull season.

I've come across so many other threads where people preach against the sell of Bitcoin  regardless of whether in profit or not.

If your salary was short out from your day job and wanted to make out some preparations for Christmas and New year then it wont really be that a bad idea on spending a small portion of those holdings of yours.
As long you arent spending all of it then you should be fine.It isnt really bad to spend up a portion yet this holiday season do happens only once a year which spending some amounts of those investments that
you had hold for so long wont really that a waste.Yes, you could really make out some conversion from crypto to fiat. This is what im doing, but im sure that im not spending
that much because it is really better that you are holding into something which does have potential.

It doesn't really matter if you pay with fiat or bitcoin really, since both are valued the same at the time.

What matters is which one you choose to keep for a long time.

If you keep your money in fiat it will depreciate, but Bitcoin will appreciate over a long period of time.

You can always spend bitcoin for goods and services and buy more to replace it.

BUY BITCOIN

I remember before, like every Christmas holiday, there are a lot of people claiming that Bitcoin will dump because people will sell some Bitcoin to buy presents for someone, so a dump is expected, but every time I hear that what happening is the opposite.
So for me, this is becoming a theory now.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of this theory in the past even though it was debunked last year.
At any moment of celebration, people can have a genuine initiative to increase the visibility of bitcoin especially for relatives who are not yet involved in this space, that way they don't have the option of selling their bitcoins just to give gifts.

This space for rent.

The market will always move against our plans and we should always prepare plan B incase of this happen. I don't follow the rumours, instead I listened to the price actions of the market. Bitcoin can still keep dipping till January but this Christmas, we would be expecting either a slight dump or heavy pump. This year is one of the most terrible year in the Crypto space where we witnessed so many failed projects and scams took the orders of the day, but I'm grateful that we all have learnt our lessons from the space this year.

We all have our preferences when it comes to Christmas, others will celebrate, give gifts and spends money so that others will be happy. There is also not celebrating it as it is just an ordinary day. If you saved your bitcoin for this kind of holiday then nothing is wrong with it as that is your goal for the whole year but it doesn't mean that you need to sell all, just save some of it so that you can use it for an emergency. You can spend your bitcoin whatever you want as it is your money but moderately

Unfortunately, I will have to go to work on the 24th and die to my schedule I have still havent had time to prepare for christmas. Apart from a few gifts and a wiskey bottle I still have a lot to prepare. This means that Ill have to get out from work on the 24 and go looking for what is still missing. Even so, I believe ot will be a better christmas than the previous ones as at least there is no covid regulations to separate my family, so this year all the family will get together. This will be the best gift, for sure.

Every religious event generates business, The famous Greek Philosopher said "Man is by nature a social animal, an individual who is unsocial naturally and not accidentally is either beneath our notice or more than human." I don't think its something bad, since people buy new stuff for themselves and gifts for there loved once. In my country people used to wait for such events to buy new clothes, shoes and other stuff. In short such events bring happiness.
In my country Bitcoin is not legal so we cant use Bitcoin to buy any stuff.

Christmas is a special celebration and I also do not think that it is bad to have a budget of some bitcoins that you would sell off to make the occasion memorable both for you and your family. The thing is just try as much as possible to keep your spending moderate and don't overdo or over sell out some coins to finance your celebration. Christmas did not come suddenly so it definitely means that you must have been making financial plans for a while about that day to avoid or reduce the pressure of needing money to spend.

Preparing for Christmas is fun you know but it would be nice spending according to your level. Do not spend to impress or to opress someone because you just might not know what the turnout of event would be. Christmas to me is everyday because there is more to me waking up every day and being grateful for yet another day and sufficient abundance. I am not trying to neglected Christmas as not important please but I believe it was a day set aside for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. If you must spend fir preparations, try to see you have a reserve because January is yet another season itself and you know how it feels to have spent everything and entering another with no remedy or backup plans.

We have just a few days to Christmas, so I guess now, it's Okey if we start wishing everyone a happy Christmas in advance.

Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.

Why then lose your Bitcoin for items that perishes in such a short time?

To some people this is a good advice but to some people this is not the best advise.
There are people who bought bitcoin for long so that it will appreciate by Christmas to give them money to spend. To those people they don't your advice. Money is made to be spent, if they want to spend it they shouldn't be restricted.
I have sold much myself to send to family and friends so that they will look good and eat good foods. This is a period of merriment.

Christmas is a time of family getting together, and how much money, gifts or Bitcoin you have is highly irrelevant in my opinion. Has Bitcoin allowed me to celebrate Christmas in a bigger way? Not really. We've never really focused too much on the gift giving, and all that. What matters is the people that's there for me. So, ultimately I've prepared for Christmas like I have before I had Bitcoin. Bitcoin hasn't really changed a whole lot of the process for me.

I'm sure some people have benefited from Bitcoin, and therefore have been able to celebrate a little more lavishly than before. Each to their own I say.

For me I have bitcoin that I've been holding and I will wait till the next bull run to at least see how profitable it will be.

But there are bitcoin that I'm willing to sell, just to enjoy this Holiday with my families and friends. This is the time wherein we should enjoy the fruits of our hardship for the whole year so there's nothing wrong with selling, but you still have some that you HODL for the next all time high.

So again, don't make it hard for yourself, just have fun and take it easy this Christmas.

I generally avoid interfering Bitcoin with my daily life/routine. Christmas is no different. Bitcoin hasn't enabled me to celebrate any differently just because I may do better financially. I'm also trying to approach a more minimalistic way of life; hoarding stuff you don't use or need is exhausting and a waste of resources; thus, I rarely resort to binge buying clothes or other items, even during Christmas celebrations. Don't get me wrong, I'll buy a few gifts for my parents and significant other, but I won't go on a shopping spree. With that being said, I'm not spending a fortune, nor do I spend more than I can afford; thus, there's no way I'd liquidate my Bitcoin. I've adopted a way of thinking that involves completely ignoring its existence.

That's equally a good advice, but It's never a bad idea, celebrating Christmas in a way that you can afford to, because you literally don't need to lavish more than you can afford to spend, as Xmas is just a one day something. Moreover, selling your Bitcoin to celebrate ones in a year with family members and friends is not a bad idea, because what if eventually something happens to you. The Bitcoin will be lost while you have gone (die). So it's better to celebrate the little you can with family and friends now that you are alive

Why not take a little pinch out of our bitcoin stash this Holiday and make it a special one even if the market is worst or the financial landscape around the world is at chaos. At least you got the money to enjoy with the families and bring food in the table for them.

Others might have different perspective though, they don't want to touch their bitcoin and will rather have this so called "delayed gratification".

So to each its own I guess, "Different strokes for different folks".

Same with my thoughts and what I have done. No one knows tomorrow and even no one knows where the economy is heading to.
Christmas in my country try Nigeria is a period when people show love buying gifts for friends, families and relatives. It is a period when people that travelled for greener pasture comes back to dine with family. Selling some portions of bitcoin to enjoy this special season is not a bad idea. If you keep saving your bitcoin when exactly will you use it? That is not how Satoshi asked us to use bitcoin.

You're telling the truth, really. Nobody knows what will actually happen tomorrow; we only have thoughts of what we will do in the present. As for me, I don't see anything wrong with selling some Bitcoin to celebrate Christmas, which only occurs once a year, if someone doesn't have any way to celebrate it. It is preferable to occasionally have fun so you can make yourself happy than to constantly worry about the future.

Everyone is aware that we are in a bear market and that it is not a good idea to sell your Bitcoin assets at this time because the cryptocurrency market has declined significantly, but that shouldn't stop you from purchasing some items, especially if you are spending money on things that will make you happy.

Yeah, if you know you're already going to get gifts, maybe Bitcoin itself is a nice gift? I sent to 2 couples, their first Bitcoin, just a small amount that they're free to spend if they want. Holding's nice but spending gives you return much later, and that's cool too -)

Delayed gratification is awesome!

Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.
Christmas is a time to give back, this is what I have always believed,  Today the 23rd of December and I sold a little fraction of my bitcoins to support my close friends in providing free medical outreach to people in need of it.

They have been able to put together a team of medical practitioners for this outreach, I feel happy knowing that my bitcoins has been able to assist in helping people get some healthcare.

In this industry, for sure many people are planning to enter or invest now that the market price is still low. But to those who are hesitating, they are not sure with the length of time to wait for the recovery to occur in this market which is just normal. On my end, I am just gathering capital for January to be prepared if incase there will be signs of recovery. Well, there is a chance for an uprise movement but I doubt it is bigger than the tendency to stabilize at a certain price point.

Well, wow. Bitcoin for a gift? that's too expensive, would be better if you'd have screenshots as proof. But in line with this instance, there are chances that couples might spend that amount outside this industry depending on what kind of couple they are. Some would for sure won't give that much of attention given how low the market still, is.

I believe Christmas is not good for crypto, but it is good for those who celebrate it. I say this because sometimes massive sells occur to celebrate Christmas, which has an effect on the Bitcoin price. Some people are concerned that prices will fall as a result of the Christmas sale. As a direct consequence, there is a massive sale. I'd like to celebrate Christmas by not selling our stock. Because your possession would make you happy once a day after Christmas.

Sorry OP, I am going to default on this one Grin. Despite the current market situation, I do not think it would hurt if I spend some Satoshis. I do not care whether the item perishes in a few days or weeks after Christmas. It would make me happy. I have planned for it. However, I think the caveat here is to spend wisely and not on some foolish thing one may end up regretting.

Well we are getting some friends over, its going to be quite hard because its all going to be in our house, my wife has been preparing for nearly a week and it has been tiring her a lot. I would love to help, but for two reasons I haven't been able to do so, first of them is the fact that I work all day so when I finish my work and try to help her its already late, and she already did so much work during the day, second is the fact that she doesn't trust me with anything Cheesy I mean I would love clean or cook or anything, but she doesn't trust the work I would do, even if I wipe the floors, she wipes after me to make sure lol.

Seems to me that your family dig your jive of gifting them bitcoins if this has been going on for a number of christmas days already. Must be nice to have a family that supportive with investments and asset management. Anyhow, I do hope you get better soon! The christmas season here at btctalk wouldn't be the same without us guys being active and all, although I myself doubt I'd be as active once it comes around on the account that you'd have to stay downstairs and socialize in person lmao. Anyhow, have a happy hodlidays man! See you around next year!

This is just like every other Christmas that has come and go, presicly season of love for me to touch some lives, but the difference here is that I'm using the entire December Bitcoin payment which I got from signature campaign to do some charity.

Allready I've started some gifting to people around me and I will do as much as I can to show some love to less previlaged in my country side and as well visit motherless baby homes and the widows too.

For Christmas, I have prepared gifts for everybody in our family, especially for my sister. I am so excited to give the present to my sister Sarah. She will be really surprised to see the tickets to Bali. I know she loves to swim, so I got her a swimsuit too and some pairs of bikinis from https://www.lascana.com/Bikinis. She is going to love it! I can’t wait to see the expression on her face when she opens the gift.

The world is preparing to celebrate Christmas. Myself too doing the same. It is really a must to celebrate Christmas through giving. One of the above user selling a small fraction of his earnings to support the medical needs of people is really appreciable and hope such things need to be the priority of Christmas from all than celebration and partying.

This maybe a great advice but Bitcoin is a coin and asset itself so, you have to use it like how it works. However, once you sell it at this current price you might not be able to buy the same price again, but if you are lucky to earn some money with your job you can afford to buy at this price or maybe it will go cheaper but we can't be so accurate if the price will go that way since the market is always unpredictable.

We just have to use whatever we had but if you're in need of money there's no problem with that if you sell some BTC but make sure you can buy it back before it grows.

Most of the time during the holiday season more selling happens in the market. People desire to spend selling what they've earned through the year. In recent years this have changed alot, because understanding the importance of having bitcoin majority of the small volume holders have stopped selling bitcoin and spending for entertainment. Life is unpredictable same is with bitcoin, so living life spending something for our happiness is needed for now.

There is no problem in spending a little bit more during special dates, but of course it's not an excuse to burn all your bitcoin holdings without thinking on the future. For those who live alone it must be easier to keep holdings intact during Christmas, but for those who are going to stay with their families it's not possible to not spend with them. Life is too short and we need to enjoy the good times with the people we love. We never know when it's going to be our last Christmas, so better to make sure the currently one is going to be the best of all.

I do not celebrate Christmas but it's safe to say that it's your money so it doesn't hurt you if you spend some of your Bitcoin asset for big event like this. It's not limited to Christmas only but other big events in later date if you would like to spend some of your money for some goodies and want to spread happiness with your profits.

With whatever strategy you use, you can probably buy-back those Bitcoin in later time so spending it on this big event won't matter that much as you can buy it again for example with DCA strategy for long term one.

If you just buy the same amount (or more) of Bitcoin at the same time that you spend Bitcoin then you're not really spending any Bitcoin, you're just spending fiat in the end, because you keep the same amount of Bitcoin saved.

That's the best way to keep your stash intact and also use Bitcoin.

This is what makes Christmas special sometimes is not about Saving or holding Currency.
This is more special because you saving life's just imagine how many people you would be able to put smile on their face just by doing this. Thanks Rruchi man God bless you for this

Christmas is not just any normal season it's a time of showing love to everyone, It is the season when Jesus Christ Our Saviour was born and spending some bitcoin to show it, is not really bad idea.
I guess what you trying to say is how much of your coin are you spending?  What are you spending it on? How important is it to you?  How do you plan to get the money back?

Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.
The worst advice I've read from high rank accounts in this forum, you're don't know how important Christmas day for the one you love. Let's say you want to give a something to the one who you're rarely met, but you didn't want to sold your Bitcoin to buy the lovely stuff for her. You didn't give anything to her and just giving a useless text, but after then she will block you since she already with the other guy.

After you know it, you become depressed and don't have any reason to life just because you're don't want to sold your coin to buy a little thing.

Yes, very good advice.... I apply the 80/20 strategy.. where I hoard 80% of all the coins I buy and I use 20% to buy stuff. (Food & expenses)

We have to support the retailers and shops that accept Bitcoin payments .. or they will stop accepting it. So why not use the FIAT budget for Xmas and convert it all to Bitcoin and then use that to pay for the gifts and the food. (You would have spend it on that in any way, why not pay with it in Bitcoin)  Roll Eyes

We need money for several stuff this festival period, yeah, but it is a simple advice I've got for the crypto community which you are part of, Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.

This advice not to sell our bitcoin to finance our Christmas dreams can be possible now as most of those who hold bitcoin have already incurred losses before now because of the price dump for those who bought months ago and selling in loss is not a good thing, otherwise around Christmas is the time of cashing out on bitcoin. For those who love to spend during Christmas, they should learn to spend wisely. There is January and its problems and expenses, rents to be paid, school fees for those returning back to school also.

Christmas is a season when you will get to spend time with your friends and family and have fun. I won't suggest unnecessary spending of money or bitcoin, but it won't be improper if you take a portion of your profits and have fun.

Merry Christmas everyone   Grin

Christmas is over. I didn't spend my bitcoins. I had the intention of spending bitcoins, buying gifts for my friends, or giving bitcoins to my friends. But I restrained myself. I don't think it's necessary.
I had dinner with my friends, listened to music, and spent the day happily.

I gave some of the bitcoins to my nephew as a Christmas present, and he was surprised but happy to take them.

Thanks for this rule, I might have forgotten this one, yeah, why not apply it to bitcoin as a strategy as well.

Unfortunately, there's not much of a shop that accept bitcoin payments here, there will always be 3rd party in between to exchange my bitcoin to FIAT so I have to go this services. Nevertheless, I will spend some including New Year too, which for us, is celebrated more than Christmas I must say because it's not just the whole family but extended families as well and we will have a street party and gift giving as well.
